question! is the latest version 1.1.2 or 1.1.1

according to the Aquaria.exe, its 1.1.2.0:

though theres a thread about "how to obtain the latest version 1.1.1" or something like that. whats newer, whats the latest version?

i have trouble with the game. i decided to buy it (anyway) but those graphics driver crashes are frustrating. id gladly patch it with the "new" 1.1.2 beta version...

Well, the latest public version is I believe 1.1.1, I don't know if 1.1.2 is out yet.

Either way, it's propably a stupid suggestion, but have you tried updating your drivers yet? >_>

Oh and on-topic, I have Vista, I'd love to test the Beta, if you want me to check or test things put a note with it.

I'd also love to help test it, but I'm useless if you only need Vista testers.  I have one system with a Radeon 9800 and a cardboard box with a GeForce 3 (Athlon 64 and Athlon XP, respectively), if you're interested in testing low- to middle-end (?) XP systems.  I can also test it against Wine (under 32- and 64-bit Ubuntu) if you're really interested, but that might not be a good idea since the bugs could also be inside Wine itself.

Oehr:  Have you tried (if possible) really old drivers?  On my Radeon 9800, for example, anything newer than the 7.11 drivers (which are over a year old) borks Aquaria's textures.  (And that happens to be when ATI did a major rework of their OpenGL code, I believe.)

The Steam version is up to at least 1.1.2 now, but the normal version is still at 1.1.1.

Would you mind posting your debug.log somewhere? Maybe there are some clues in there.

And what exact OS do you have? And your Video card? We'd need more info to help you.

I'm sorry to say, but I personally can't find anything that means something to me, and I've skimmed through a lot.

Either way, you propably have already done it, but did you try putting off some options like framebuffer?

And when the games crashed was there anything you did? Like, did it just crash, or at a certain point, or when you were doing something?

I can't find anything meaningful either, but it does look to me like Aquaria shut everything down neatly last time you ran it...  Would you be willing to play until it crashes again and then post the resulting debug log before restarting Aquaria?  Or is that what you did?  (I could be wrong about the tidy shutdown, but my log ends the same way.)

And please be patient.  There are many things that can cause a program to crash.

it often crashes when it shows an area ahead. like in the song cave. there are 4 notes you have to play in order to open the door. you find those four notes in an room with some strange feral creatures sculptures. then theres also a skulpture of the door for those who cant figure out what the notes are four. if you rightclick on it, it shows you the door. thats when the game crashed for me twice.

theres also another sculpture of a feral creature(?), though just a head. the first time you go near it, a strange laughter was played. it crashed twice here too, just because of the laughter?!

im going to school, i post a new log later on and get the new beta driver 182.05... i hope those do the trick!

Well, Alec did want people to test Vista for him, you have Vista, so maybe this is what he was afraid for or something?

I really hope it's another problem. Have you tried to reinstall it yet? And would it be possible for you to get the 1.1.1 version?

Weird!  Maybe it is a Vista64-specific problem or something even more specific to your setup.

It sounds like you have the Steam version, in which case you can't try v1.1.1, but here are a couple other quick things you could try.  They're long shots, but if they get the game working...
-Disable Steam's friends list/chat overlay.  It doesn't give me any problems, but you have a different OS and hardware, and it's been known to cause problems with other games in the past.
-Run Steam's "verify integrity of game cache" option to check for corrupt files.

i bought it via steam, so if theres no standalone 1.1.1 installation i can get, i won't be able to test it. though it seems like i can modify the files itself. i edited the

unfortunately my internet connection is pretty for redownloading the game again but steam verify didnt find any problems nor redownloaded any file(s).

i disabled framebuffer effects and steam overlay and i was finally able to play 2h straight without any crashes. i stopped after that though. my next try will be with framebuffer effects enabled again, though ill take a break first

P.S. 50% of the VGA driver finished... only another 3 hour! yay...

Hehe, good to hear that you were able to play 2 hours straight, I hope stuff will go better from here on, sadly enough I don't have much experience with Steam.
