Stuck with Seahorse - possible bug?

I can't steer on the seahorse. I can get on it, but cannot go anywhere, no matter which key/combination of keys I try. Am I just not getting the puzzle, or is something wrong?

Try using the right mouse button and choose a symbol to sing. You'll notice that the seahorse will travel in the selected direction.

Just sing the note that's in the direction you want to go lindsey, there isn't a set of notes for it. If you've beaten the race then you wear the costume and then you can travel around a level quite fast

Seahorse + Seahorse costume is pretty much the only way to travel for me.  Sure if I need precision or safety I'll use Beast Form, but for getting from point A to point B without use of a turtle, there's no better means.
