Awesome, awesome game... Keep up the fantastic work!
« on: April 15, 2008, 10:35:52 am »
As someone who uses laptop (home, work, etc) PCs almost exclusively, this game is a fucking godsend.

While I'm only a few hours in, the audio/visual richness that's being presented is simply awesome. Hell, in one instance I was picking up on some musical notes (Cave of Songs) that made me think, "...if Super Metroid and Secret of Mana got their freak on the union's spawn would have an OST similar to that of Aquaria."  I know, it's a bit crude but it's a compliment. It's a rare, rare moment when a current game is able to "bring me back" to more carefree times, back when I was 12, back before college graduation *shudder*.

Well done!

Also, for the record, if you fellas decide to release a retail boxed edition at some point, I'll be more than willing to to buy it a second time.

Once again, great job.  :)

Your sentiments are shared by many of us.  Welcome to the Aquaria forums! (Not sarcastic, seriously, welcome.)

I didn't want to start a new thread cos I want to write something similar :)

I just finished the game and I am simply amazed. I played many games during the last and this year, but Aquaria left the strongest memories in me and each time I played it I was in a rather strange mood - it was long time ago a game had so big effect on me :)

I am looking forward to your next work be it an another game or a boxed edition of Aquaria or a soundtrack :)

You know I've been looking back at all the games that moved me recently, and the only ones on that list would be Portal, Bioshock, and Aquaria.  I think the mood has a very big effect on me when I play games.  Portal was so quirky and fun, Bioshock was so immersive I felt like I was there, and Aquaria was such a mix of serene and shocking it kept me on my toes but kept me relaxed too.  Good games draw you in an keep you there.  Great games make you keep feeling something after you're done playing.

I should try Bioshock then.
I played Assasin's Creed recently and it was really big disappointment - not even technically impresive for me :)
But I recommend you to play The Witcher...if you like strong storyline and a different look on a fantasy world (perhaps you have already read Sapkowski's books), then you will love it. Just be sure to download latest patch :)
BTW the funny thing is that I enjoyed Aquaria in terms of graphical appealance more then those rather big projects like Assasin's Creed or The Witcher :) But it's perhaps because I simply like 2D games more then 3D.

Same for me, I like good story lines and Assassin's Creed... was also a disappointment to me, the only good thing about that is that it had fluent game play, but that was about it.

Also funny is that Indeed Aquaria, Portal and... one other game I can't remember has actually moved me in the last year. The game I can 't remember is not Bioshock, I liked it but it was very chaotic and mind scrambling, I normally like those games, but add horror to it and it becomes a bit too much for me. Also a VERY twisted storyline.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

I thought Assassin's Creed was some of the most fun I had just running around and occasionally watching some KICK ASS kill animations.  Running was fun in AC.  As for the Witcher.  I bought it when it first came out, played the first few levels, became very very frustrated with the technical issues and poor inventory system, and put it down for a while.  I intended to pick it back up a month or so later, after completing some other games, but then I heard about The Witcher Enhanced and decided to wait for that.  Because it sounds fantastic.

I've never played Assasin's Creed - it seems this game doesn't made a big shock on me, and after I have read your posts I don't think I'll ever put my sticky fingers on this title. As for the Witcher... Hell yeah. After the team has made some remarkable changes and improvements, they released in newest patch, the game earned alot. I also downloaded the newest nvidia drivers and it looks like everything runs even more smoother on my pc, so I'm going to play the game again :), just looking for a bit more free time to spare. glamador, you can play play The Witcher now, you won't be dissapointed  ;)

Aquaria has something deep inside.  It's an emotional game, right from the beggining to the very end. I think it's a feature we all missed in few last years, and that's why we have been all astonished.

Those are my sentiments also, Aquaria must take is back to how we stand and dream while staring out to sea, it's more than a back to the womb feeling.  It's as if we are wishing that we could go back beyond our remotest ancestors and back to the sea that spawned everthing?
Many of my teen daydreams were of swimming in the sea and able to live beneath the waves with no worldly cares, this game does that for us and more..
