Tune to open the whale
« on: December 18, 2007, 03:00:05 am »
Ok ok ok....I know this must be staring me in the face but it's DARK.  I can't SEE what's staring me in the face!  I hate the abyss, and I can't stand having to move in this slow sun form all day long.  All I have left is the whale, but I can't find this statue I'm supposed to swim into to find the song to get in...I've read in other threads that it is "above the seahorse area and below the 2nd open water area".  This doesn't help.  Can I get some specifics?  I've run around the entire abyss TWICE.  And as I said, I hate this area.  Please don't make me do it again...

Big A-shaped map - as you are aware, the same map as the seahorse area and racetrack. near the top of the A, branching off to the right is a tunnel linked to a circle of the same width by a fish-form accessible route. It's the first tunnel off to the east when entering from the northen entrance.

Dammit I'm still not seeing it...Is it in the west or east side of the abyss?  I assumed it would be in the same area as the whale.  I don't see anything "A-shaped" and I definitely havn't seen a single statue...is it possible you could point it out on the map for me?  Sorry to be a burden but I'm starting to get frustrated and I don't have fun when I'm frustrated...

Just make your way to the same map as the Seahorse race, first. Then look at your minimap. Near the northern entrance you'll see a tunnel branching off to the east. And no, it's not in the same area as the whale. It's actually outside the dark area of the abyss, in between it and Open Waters.

Here, I'll provide a JPEG of the map, in case anybody is so kind as to mark where the hell I'm going.  Can somebody provide some landmarks that are you know...marked on the map?  Like save crystals or turtles or something?  And when you say seahorse place, do you mean the arnassi people?  The ones that arn't actually even IN the abyss?  Is the song for the whale not IN the abyss?  Have I been searching the WRONG AREA in vain all this time?

Right, see that A-shaped light bit near the top seam of your JPEG? It's in the same map as that. Not the map with the upper-rightmost save crystal (the Arnassi Ruins), but the map to its west, or left. Yes, it's not in the Abyss proper.

Where I say 'map', I mean a seamless area without a loading point between its parts.

Thanks so much for your help.  The problem was I kept wandering about the Abyss...for 2 hours....well at least that horror is behind me now.

The abyss is behind you, but what is waiting now...
