Esc key stolen by editor mode
« on: November 27, 2011, 01:18:28 am »
Hey all,

My Esc key suddenly stopped functioning in Aquaria after I tried my hand at modding using the in-game editor. It won't recognize the keypress not only in the editing mode but also in the main game; the key still works for other applications. I once was able to briefly patch this by changing the first zero in the user settings file to "KEY_ESCAPE" under the appropriate section, but soon after, the Esc key quit working again, and there aren't any more spaces to patch in KEY_ESCAPE in the config file. I have changed no other Aquaria files; I simply played around with the in-game editor, tried adding new entities via script in my new mod (which should stay separate from the main game, if I'm not mistaken).

Any ideas on how to get my esc key back, or at least its functionality? It's obviously critical to use the editor at all.

Which version are you using? Operating system? Would be helpful to know if its something stone-age or more recent.
But yes, this is correct, if you are in editor mode, Esc has no effect. No idea why it would disable itself...

Btw, never had this problem you described. And i've been modding a lot already.

Sorry for the ambiguity; solved it myself. Not 100% sure yet, but it seems to have been b/c I was running TextPad concurrently. Not running TextPad at the same time seems to have fixed the issue.
