stumped in the energy temple

i'm stuck in the energy temple. I beat the boss. I swam around and there are only two paths after defeating the boss. One path leads to a pink colored something with water that flushes you back up into an earlier point in th energy temple. The other path leads to a frog with an empty mouth. I CANNOT FIND THE PERL TO PUT IN HIS MOUTH AND OPEN THE NEXT AREA. I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED AND LOOKED AND LOOKED AND LOOKED AND LOOKED BUT CANNOT FIND A PERL. THERE WAS A PERL EARLY ON, BUT I NEEDED IT TO OPEN ANOTHER AREA PRIOR TO THE BOSS.  WHERE IS THE PERL TO OPEN THE AREA AFTER DEFEATING THE BOSS IN THE ENERGY TEMPLE? IS IT IN THAT HEAP OF PINK CRAP?  I CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THAT PINK STUFF (THE PINK STUFF JUST PRIOR TO GETTING SUCKED UP TO AN EARLIER POINT IN THE ENERGY TEMPLE (THE OTHER PATH THAT DOES NOT LEAD TO THE EMPTY FROG).

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE PERL IS FOR THE FROGS MOUTH. I JUST CANNOT FIND IT. I'VE LOOKED FOR HOURS.

The game isn't exactly linear, so if you're where I think you are... you won't be able to do anything there yet.  There IS an exit close by, if you are where I think you are, and all you have to do is go swim to it and eventually you'll see a big red flower (remember that for later) and around there is the exit, which will take you back to a place you have already been that is close to the main entrance/exit to the place.  If you can't do something right away, make a note of it, and see if you can get out so you can obtain whatever you need to have to be able to do those things.  Sounds like you're done with the energy temple, and you just need to go to a new area of the game for a while.  Sorry if that is vague, but trying not to give TOO many spoilers.... heh.

Indeed, the game isn't linear!

Go out and explore the world, and once you've acquired new abilities, you can go back and see if those new abilities an help you with things you where stuck with before.

There are more places in the energy temple you can't go yet. I bet you didn't even consider the small cracks in the floor that are to small to swim through, but wide enough that you could if you where smaller, yet. It is no different than the doors that won't open. In both cases you need other forms to enter.

For what its worth, the pearls in Aquaria grow from big red flowers.
