« on: September 01, 2007, 09:01:01 pm »
I just  saw  a  movie  ,  where  they  showed  the  deep sea creature  , that  was the  inspiration for  the  Alien creature  from the  "Alien" movies .

It  was  a deep  sea ,  parasitic  arthropod  of  some  kind  living  in  a  jelly  fish  ...   they  sad  the  name  but  , i  searched it  and  nothing  came out  ...

does  someone  know  the  name  exactly  ,  or  even  some  links  about  it  ...

Thank  you  in advance ...

Bingo! (I think!)

Took me one google search. I searched for "that inspired the creature from Alien" (without quotes). The first result tells you the name:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phronima

And here's a pic:

I'm sure you can find a lot more by Googling Phronima.

In fact, clicking on the link for the first Google Images search result shows me that you were probably watching the excellent Blue Planet with David Attenborough.

Huzzah for my Google skills! ;)
whut, we get signatures? K, lemme put something here. WATCH THIS SPACE >_>

Yes the Alien was made by H.R. Giger in the 60s and the shape of the head of the alien was made to be phallic.  Do a search on Giger paintings and you can see a lot of strange phallic stuff.
Pretty sure that guy did lots of lsd.

I never thought of the Alien head as something scary.

I wonder why, it was more the fact that we don't see the creature a lot during all the movie which scared me instead of the scenes where he/she/it appears.  ???

Biomechanical cocks are SCARY! Though, I thought the penis inspiration was pretty obvious...
