Alec and his quickness at replies.
« on: December 17, 2008, 11:41:54 pm »
I just want to give Alec props on his hard work.  Although I've never played Aquaria (hopefully that'll get fixed soon :)), my first time posting on the support forum and Alec replied within 1 hour, which is awesome.  I've never had a forum where an admin replied so fast lol.  Again keep up the good work.
bump.

Forget having an admin reply: you've the chief programmer of Aquaria at your beck and call! Now THAT is service. Service one can only find in the indie sphere. Alec, thank you.  :)

Don't these posts sustain Alec and Derek in the dark, cold hours of the morning? Or is it coffee by the kilo...I really can't remember.  :)

Alec for the most part has always had a quick response time unless he's been on vacation; which is completely understandable anyways. I would say it's not even that normal with most other indie developers. I think that really has helped this game further develope. Alec definitely is dedicated to working out all the bugs and problems that people have with different software, hardware setups. It's expected that a program won't run the same way on different machines, but he and the community here have definitely helped out everyone that has come across with a problem. So anyways, kudos to Alec, and all those that have spent time to help others get the chance to experience this wonderful game.

I agree.  I'm not one to kiss ass, but on two occasions I've had the good fortune to be hanging around to actually watch him learn of bugs in the forums, contemplate the issues, and then provide fixes; and all this within hours.  That's dedication is what that is.

Oh yeah, I've definitely been here long enough to see those moments. Even in more recent of times as it seems the site is getting a reflux of visitors, most likely to the new versions and the availability of a steam version. :)

aaaaaah! 2 pages of unread topics since yesterday!  ;D

And yes, Alec is incredibly fast. I hope his private life (if he has one ;)) isn't suffering much. :)

I think that he reads the posts on one computer and works on the game using another, and I'm not joking either. My son used to do this a lot untill he found his time taken up with a new job amongst other things. ::)

He alternates between a Macbook and a PC for various tasks. You should see the number of programs and windows he has open at any given time though... yikes! Dude knows how to multitask.

I thouight that it would be something like that Chrissy. I recall one set up my son had that allowed him to use one mouse and two computers switching between them with it in some way that had the curser seemingly move from one monitor into the other, I found that totally fascinating lol
