Creature Anatomy
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:43:01 am »
I love to make up anatomies for fictional creatures to reassure myself they could be able to exist in real life, i used to do it in Pokemon when i was little, and now im applying it to aquaria.
You post yours too.

The Maul:

The bright yellow gland protruding from its head produces an aroma that attracts small black fish. These fish make a colony in the shell on its back. They protect the creature, in exchange for their habitat. The Mauls adamant exoskeleton makes it a hard target for predators to get. The Maul prefers darkness, so it makes its habitat near wrecked ships. it emerges during the day only to feed on algae. Its tentacles are limp and do not serve any known purpose.

Alec (or was it Derek?) posted an explanation of the maul on the Bit-Blot Blog. Here it is; just a reference to your source material. Neat idea for a topic in my opinion.  :)

For me, it would have to be almost all the creatures in the Gauntlet (the bullet hell immediately before the Creator). The clouds of Uber-Nautilus were particularly annoying; mainly because I was getting used to the Dual Form and they would dodge my bullets. Strangely enough, I liked fighting the maul - except when I accidentally led two of them to the same place - now THAT was hard!  ;D

Oh yes I did that once also, it is kind of hard but the gauntlet leaves me gasping for breath, and when you kill the last one and go through to the next I feel like she needs to slam the door and lean hard on it to keep them out lol

The gauntlet is what you play when mia kicks your memory in the ass in the beginning of the game, right/

Take that and make it the length of the tunnels below Mithalas and you'll have the right idea.  :) (It's the area before the final boss, in the actual game.) I quite like the image of Naija slamming the door hard behind her - it reminds me of the classic, almost cliched, scene where the hero closes the door behind him only to encounter an even worse enemy (the Creator) in his "safe" haven.  :)            However, the Gauntlet was actually harder than the Creator for me.

The Monstrosities (the lobster things that have one claw and a tentacle and hang from the ceiling) are annoying. But, since the gauntlets bullet hailfire, spirit form might come in handy sometimes.

I had a little trouble with that power of the spirit form: I kept on hurting myself trying to get the health.  ::) Maybe this time over I'll do better.

Yes they are a pain but multiply that by some unknown number and you have the gauntlet :o you are just being attacked all the time down a looong tunnel, there is a slight rest for breath part of the way along but the pace soon hots up again.  Fortunately if it deletes all your power it is possible to save and go and stock up before facing the last boss.
