Aquaria's too good for Wal-Mart.

That still would be a bit hard. Introversion lugged a heavy laptop around showing Darwinia to publishers, complete with mindisc+booklet given to everyone who would listen, but still only had Pinnacle Software, who was already with them since Uplink, their first game.

Sorry for the big "I am a IV fanboy" centered example, but I am hard-pressed to think of anyone else.

Most retail stores deal with videogame distributor companies, not directly with publishers or worse developers.  Wal-Mart might be different, not sure, but their process of getting a new product to their shelves is a difficult one, involving going down to their headquarters and competing with hundreds of other small companies doing the same.  And then Wal-Mart (being who they are) would probably require that the game cost like $10 or $15, giving the developers like $3 per game sold, including covering manufacturing costs.

Unfortunately, the usual, easy way to start dealing with publishers or distributor companies used-to be at E3, but the new E3 isn't for new game businesses anymore, as you have to be *invited* to go, and distributors aren't invited anyways.

it's an indie game, hence taking out the "third" party.

They are making and taking all the profits. It's us the fans that help spread the word about how awsome this game is. Lets do our part so these guys get what they deserve.

Publishing video games is not easy and I doubt that Wall-Mart route would be beneficial to the developers. The only alternative I can think of is Steam.

I have the ability to get this game in to WalMart.  I am part of a publisher/distributor and I tried to offer Alec and Derek a good deal to put their game on retail shelves, but they wouldn't talk to me.  I emailed them multiple times and had an artist concept some package designs.

This is my last attempt at getting Alec and Derek's attention.

I hope it works, Aquaria is a great game and I want to help get it in front of everyone who plays games.
