Aquaria Desktops
« on: February 19, 2008, 07:24:56 am »
Inspired by http://desktopgaming.com/, I wanted to make some Aquaria desktops to take advantage of the crazy single/dual monitor resolutions that are out there....right now I have a dual setup with a 1900x1200 and a 1050x1680 (monitor turned vertical).

For now, I have included just a 1900x1200 wallpaper I made this weekend.

If anyone else out there likes these types of desktops, feel free to leave a suggestion of which area should be made next.  I am planning on doing one of Naija's Home next for my 1050x1680 screen.  Also, leave what resolution you currently have and if I have time, I will put together a few at different resolutions.

Photobucket lowered the image to 1024*640 so I will find a new place to post these but this should give you an idea of what the desktops are like

*UPDATE:
Here ya Go:
Starting Cave: 1900x1200

Dude. I'll totally use something like that!

Find another place to upload them, quick! :)

Hey, that's cool!
And for upload: I can only say it again and again. Use www.willhostforfood.com It's the best you find atm. Hotlinking allowed, filesize up to 100 MB, no waiting-time (like with RS), only a little captcha.

Zam: What resolution are you looking for?  haha it looks like I offset the caves to the left a little  :)  I will fix that when I get home!

Xia:  Thanks for the link!  I will try posting some there tonight and add some links to this Thread.

Any other areas I should do next?  The areas with the parallax scrolling effect in the background are harder to do but I will see what I can make.

I have uploaded a more centered version of the above image to willhostforfood (Thanks Xia).

I will continue to add more images to the first post and add any other ones that are posted.

I like home waters....
Places with any fish or something that moves might be hard to do...

You could do the ice veil. And maybe the veil itself too.

I'd love to see a few of Mithalas, Cathedral and the Body. That'd be sweet.

Also boss battles. =o

Great suggestions.  I started working on Naija's home last night:

Naija's Home WIP - This gives you an idea of what the process looks like.

So far that photoshop file is at 40 layers and has a canvas size of 7000x9000.  The PSD file is 108MBs so far.

I really want to do Home Waters but the background will make it difficult.  If I can find a way to just get the background images, I can manually put in static ones after stiching the walls together.

I'll put together a 1680x1050 version of the above image later today Zam.

Awesome...  :o

I'm really amazed with your work, these desktop wallpapers look fantastic. I'd only wish to have that large screen  to fit them in :D

Yea I have a widescreen laptop with 1920x1200 resolution so these work perfectly for me.  I love  these kinds of ambient desktops but I usually have something related to games or anime as my wallpaper.  This covers both.  Yay!  My only problem is that the starting cave doesn't have much going on there...maybe one of the Veil where there's some more stuff?

This...game...ROCKS!

I have a rather unique setup at work: widescreen primary monitor (1920 x 1200), non-widescreen secondary monitor (1280 x 1024). I'll have to come up with something cool to take advantage of them.

Oh, just so you know I'm running a 1440*900 desktop. And I think Mithalas would be cool too. ;)
