Do I really need to climb the Frozen Veil?
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:13:03 pm »
I quite like this game, and I think the production values in it is awesome.

But.

I´m stuck at the Frozen Veil. I had no idea what I was supposed to do, so I checked a walkthrough and saw that I am supposed to "climb it".

I have tried so many times now that I´m about to give up. I can reach the bubbles, but I can´t beat that part.

For the record I think that this part of the games contains some of the worst design descisions I have ever come across in a game (but I like the rest of it).

Do I really need to beat this or is it optional? If its needed and I can´t cheat through it, then I´m about to give up on this game.

Frozen Veil is optional, and therefore pretty weird.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The controls are imho not suited at all for the climbing and the cost of a missed jump from a bubble is so high its really nothing else than frustrating.

I´m of to some better parts of the game then.

I feel your pain. That wall-jumping bit drove me nuts, but not nearly as nuts as the water bubbles. And when you DO get to the end, its debatable whether or not its worth it. With the trouble you're going through to get it, I doubt it.

You can skip the water bubbles by jumping skilled out of the water below the last few bubbles, or just use soup. :3
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

You can just leave the difficulties behind, if you really don't care a cool boss challenge and an egg of health as the bonus.

For the record, you move faster and therefore leap further out of the water while in Beast form (and Fish form?)

You haven't played very many games, have you?

Yeah, I always felt like the frozen veil wasn't all that necessary, but I like it. It's possible that Derek and Alec wanted to do more with it, decided against it but wanted to keep the area in the game anyway. Who knows, maybe they could do more with it in the sequel. All kinds of new waters to discover. More Frozen Veil, maybe a lake or even a place near a terran city. Who knows?

Well...it seems the fish form is like the real fish. Fish form is not a good option for moving out of the waters, or bubbles.

The Beast form does move faster and jump farther. While the fish form moves faster while in the water, It does much worse out of it. However, since enemies pay less attention to you while in fish for, I found it to be a useful mode of transportation none the less.

Just not in the (Ice) Veil.

I believe that fish form is especially useful at the bottom caves of the veil. You know there sleep so many many starfishes.

Really? People found it THAT hard? It's a little tricky since sometimes Beast Form would overshoot some of the bubbles but if you were careful, you could make most of the jumps. Although I used a controller and I think a LOT of things are easier if using a controller. At the same time, things like Simon Says were easier with a mouse so sometimes I would switch.

I realize I'm necroing an old post, but the worst problem I had was going TOO fast and flying straight through a bubble, for the record, I got it the very first try, and then was trying to look around to make sure there was nothing else, and fell.... I made sure not to do that the second time I got that far... (like 30 minutes later)
