sea horse race- do I have to???
« on: June 10, 2010, 03:35:49 am »
Is this another one of those interesting, yet possibly pointless games? I'm not too into games that demand  (somewhat, but not TOOOO much) exacting mouse skills - or perhaps I just need a new mouse.
At any rate, I figured out that I needed to run the race, I tried things (and then tried things I found here)- what's the point?

Oh, there is none. The Arnassi Gauntlet is entirely optional (as is the rest of the Arnassi Ruins area, in fact), though there is a minor prize if you can do it in less than a minute-thirty.

(If you want to do it anyway, I find that the solution is Beast Form, three Speed+2 consumables (one for each lap), and lots of walljumping.)

I did it with fishy + spirit in JUST under the required time. ^.^

Before I managed to do that, I kept getting lost in one of the turns.

I ended up never using the minor prize at all. ._.

But oh well, it was fun. :3

The "minor" prize is awesome, especially in the veil.
God sees and knows everything, but at least he won't gossip about it.

I managed it within about a second or two using solely fish form. I kept using Spirit form too early or too late, so I gave up on that strategy. In the end, it's all a matter of getting a feel for the course. The prize isn't too terribly useful; simply put, it's more fun than functional. It's good for traveling, though.

@Succubus: Well you can always go back. =P

My reflexes aren't as fast as yours and the event kept ending because I went too far I think. :3

I started memorizing where the right moment to enter spirit form was. :3

I do it in song form with +1's and +2's, and alot of sprinting. I have done it with just 3 +1's, barely. Toss in a +2 and its easier. I find fish form corners poorly and the wobbles sometimes catch you up on obstacles.

Advice: go around the course several times  not worrying about speed, memorizing where you need to be high, where low, and where you turn. When you sprint, be careful not to be aimed at something or you will land, and stop.

Wouldn't Beast Form be ideal if you don't want to use Fish form?
Since it's faster and dashes longer, though not as fast as Fish form.
