Shame there aren't more player made maps and levels

Forgive me if I've been a bit hasty in posting this topic but I find it a shame that there aren't that many player made maps of levels to explore.

I think another big problem is that even when some are created, there isn't a central repository for them.
It'd be great if there was a mods wiki; I know someone was thinking of creating one earlier.

MODS LIST is where all released mods are located. The Wiki is meant as more of a database of information, particular functions, for mod developers. Sacrifice, the mod I've been working on for the last year and a half, is getting very close to being done. There are a little over 20 maps to explore with the campaign taking you somewhere between 3-5 hours to complete. Hopefully it will fill the "player created levels" gap. Have a look at the thread if you haven't already.

Heh, not quite a start. Jukebox was the first mod. ;)

But The Bear's one will be the first big exploration expansion mod thingy. :D Really looking forward to it. A whole new Aquaria to explore. :)

A central wiki + mod's list would be cool.

The mods should eventually make it to the main Aquaria page too...

I remember foreseeing the need of a mods list ages ago. xD (Which is why we have the mods list thread now). Though it seems to be underused as it lacks costumes mod and adult mod..
Good work on the wiki then. I'll add that link to the mods list thread. :)

I think it would be good if we could create a new thread for the costume mod, so it is not in the same thread as the Adult mod (18+) ^^

And what is your opinion on putting the download links directly on the Wiki ? Good idea / bad idea ?
Won't this allow people to redirect the link to a virus file or something ?

I'm subscribed to the recent changes feed, and glance through all the edits people make to make sure nobody's using the wiki for spam. I'd probably catch something like that.

I too would love to see more mods.  I don't have time to play them, but lots of people do, and Aquaria has such wonderful tools, they really need to see more use.  If I actually had the time, I'd make a few levels myself.  As it is, it's all I can do to help edit the Sacrifice script... but at least I can say I'm doing something!

How it is that I started to go do that and ended up on the forums is beyond me.  Damn the magical procrastination fairies.

Don't worry, we should have Sacrifice in some weeks ;)

I'm also on a small mod, only one map, but a huge one :) it should be ready in some weeks too. It's just crasy the time and work it takes, but it's worth it ^^

So just be patient :)
