Stuck in Veil

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I am stuck.
Right now I'm in veil and I have no idea what I can do. It seems like I've uncovered everything that I can, and I've just about given up. I have Li, I have explored sun temple a little, but I get stuck and can't explore it completely. The turtle cave I almost got a treasure in, but I couldn't make the jump. Besides these 2 points, I really don't know where else I can go!
HELP!

There is a puzzle you have to solve in the sun temple to get a new form which helps you exploring the deeper parts of Aquaria.

It is about a gear you have to activate through rotating (left mouse button + R) which then raises the water level. In the end you hopefully have a makeshift light which helps you through the dark parts in there.

To build upon Xiagan's post: you use the gear and bind (gravity) spell to move a shiny hard object from the right side of the Sun Temple to the other.

On your second point, if only you could jump a liiiiiittle farther.  Or faster?
