Whats the best programs to start with?

Howdy again, Considering I cannot find a close enough programmer that is enthusiastic enough to work on my new project I have reluctantly decided to learn Java, and eventually move on to other such programs. To this end I hope to just make my game completely by myself as I can do pretty much everything except programming.

Is there any helpful hints, guides or tutorials that you can share with me to help me?

Why don't you read a few threads in the modding section geo, you should find lots of help and hints amonst them all and a few searches bring up some real modding treats too
