Lost Winds

this is a wii ware title and it's not aquatic or anything ( yet ? ) but I'm thinking fans of Aquaria will enjoy it. it has a nice innovative control system where you control the wind around the main character in the form of a wind spirit, so you are sort of 2 characters, the lil dude and the wind around him. you blow gusts to help him jump, collect stuff, pull/push objects and manipulate the environment. I've just played the first few sections of it but already think it's just wonderful, the controls get to be very intuitive. the music and effects are are a real treat with a nice layered back story so far.

the gamespot review is pretty damning, 5.5 but added it as a balanced voice. the criticisms are sound but it wouldn't stop me from enjoying the title :)

Another game with stunning artwork, but I bet the music isn't as good :D I might try the demo sometime, if there is one? Thanks inkblob that is next on my list :D

I was looking at PC games yesterday and they are all like Assasin's creed etc, mostly games that I can't play because of the dexterity needed with both hands so if this plays similar to Aquaria then that's great :D

Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together

I don't know if there is a demo, it's wii ware so you need to download it for you wii from the wii shop. The music is not as nice, but it is quite good, and the combat music is really neat, simple oriental drums kick in until they've been defeated or off camera. One of my personal beefs with the game so far is that it's picky about doing things in order and you can do a bit of back and forth for things to 'kick in' to gear, it's not as non-linear as Aquaria. The controls are great tho, I really like this game!!

I don't have a wii either, and don't have any plans of getting one. But the game mechanics do sound interesting.
