Back to try again after 10 months
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:12:04 am »
I know this has been done to death but... In December last year I faltered with Aquaria within about 4 hours. This was mainly due to the inability to annotate the map in some way - even if just to place a marker that I know means "come back and investigate" or "this way is currently blocked". At the time it got all too hard, and coupled with moving house, living with the in-laws etc, I just gave up.

I'm playing again from the beginning and enjoying it, but can sense the same problem looming. I couldn't find anything concrete on the 1.1.0 patch, but is some kind of user-driven map annotation on the cards (no matter how simple it is) ?

Well, it shouldn't be too hard to play the game normally without map annotations... but if you're desparate then yeah, they are going in for the next patch.

I'd say if that was really a huge issue for you, just wait for the patch.  Granted it's taking a little while to develop since the guys have other stuff they have to think about and spend energy on too, but it's definitely in the near future.  If you've waited 10 months, another few shouldn't hurt too bad, right?  I think the update is really going to add some great stuff.  They seem to really be putting some hard work into it.  I can't wait, myself.

while you are waiting for the patch, play Lego Batman!
Ellie: Are they from the future too?
Sawyer: You told her?

It's not a life and death issue. ;)

I started again from scratch, more to remember how to play than anything else. I'm back to the kelp forest, after exploring other areas of the map and getting creamed (lower-right from memory). And sure, there are places already where I would have marked the map, but I can wait. I've got microcontrollers to program and pinball machines to fix as well, so I'm not bored :D

Very true :D Having the markers would be nice but I've found that I now know exactly where to go for the items I need and where to find the treasures, the map markers in my head work well enough for me...
I just wish that I could recall the 8 notes that SS plays as well as that  ::) lol
