Off-Topic / Re: Hello there!

There's one admin still active, False Genesis.  He checks in every once in awhile. We're still working slowly on Sequel Mod –  the trouble is everyone got so busy in their real life it's not progressing very quickly.  You can play the first chapter "Li's Story," though. Find the link here:  http://www.bit-blot.com/forum/index.php?topic=4349.0  However, to play it, and some of the other mods, you also have to download False Genesis's newer build of Aquaria.

Thanks for posting; it's nice to see someone still thinks about this game!    :D

Hi Maira,
Long time, how are ya?  I should try Starbound...  I've never found a game that absorbed me like Aquaria, though.

We're still clinging to the idea that we will find time to work on Sequel Mod in spite of RL.  And still hanging out on irc...

Wow – five years on and Labyrinth Mod finally reached 1000 downloads!  I almost missed it as I only check the stats on Bitly occasionally nowadays.  The last download that put the number over the top was from Canada.  I can only see a fraction of the stats that Bitly used to show since they reorganized, but extrapolating from past data the top countries for downloads after five years are the US, Russia, Germany, and Canada.

Making Labyrinth Mod still ranks among the most enjoyable and immersive projects I've ever engaged in.  Kudos to Alex and Derek not only for making Aquaria (best game ever imo), but for providing the editor, allowing even amateur, non-programmers like myself to experience the fun of making a game.  :D

Aquaria for iPad / Re: sun temple?????
« on: January 02, 2017, 10:40:22 pm »
You need to get beast form to be well prepared for the Veil and Sun Temple.  So you need to play the Mithalas areas. In Open Waters keep swimming right to Mithalas city and then to the cathedral.   It also helps, although there are lots of spoilers, to read more threads on this forum.  Most game play questions have been asked before.

 Have fun and good luck!

Thank you Nickon; it's quite an honor to have a comprehensive video review of the preview mod.  I was especially impressed that you found almost all quirks and alternative story bits.  Thanks for your kind words about the story and the new environments and artwork.  I'm so glad you appreciated the duncleosteus!

Nickon, thanks for these two very fine reviews of Aquaria!  Makes me want to play through the main game yet again.  Well, it has been a couple of years, so it's time.  I liked the pacing of your video, and that you covered the game from so many directions, game play, music, art work, voice acting.  And thanks for your last coupla' of minutes on Sequel Mod.  Now, if only our lives weren't so darned busy, and we could get back to modding...

Hi Joey,

I just saw your post here.  Thanks for your review/feedback -- you write these really well -- lots of thoughtful comments.  :)  As the main designer of the new song cave artwork and puzzles I appreciate your thoughts on them, especially about the jellies.  Having a variety of jellies in the first, top part of the song cave is a good suggestion.  I wanted each set of jellies to be more difficult than the one before, but that proved hard to organize, given Li's limited firepower.  (And too annoying to play if the space tolerances are made any tighter.)  Several people have commented that having six sets of jellies is too many and gets boring, so I'm keeping that in mind as we work on revisions as well.

Thanks again, and keep up the comments!

Yes, some of us keep checking and post once in awhile.  And the first chapter of Sequel Mod came out mid-August.  All feedback is very much appreciated!

Go to the top of this thread to see the costume; it's worth it to see yet another iteration of cute little Naija  ;)

Thanks for the feedback, Joey – it made my day to know someone still played Labyrinth mod and liked it enough to give pretty detailed, generous feedback.  As for the mod's difficulty, I think by the end I was somewhat influenced by F.genesis who was helping at that time with the scripts. And if you think this was hard, try playing his Meaty Mod!

Yep, I still check the forum fairly often, because I'm one of the folks working on the "Something Like a Sequel" mod.  And I frequently lurk/hang out on the bit blot IRC channel as Fawpaw.  We're approaching the completion of the first chapter of the sequel mod, so it's fun times.  :D
