So, if you're set on Arboreal/HotF, then you'd probably want something very different to contrast a different style.  Since HotF is one of the more rhythmically-driven pieces of the OST, I'd say go for something more melodic.

Lost in the Waves is a good choice then.  I'd like to suggest Icy Waters, though, because it's a far simpler song.  At least three very distinct melodies at once, plus a simple string line.  It depends on if you want to go for something iconic but complex (Lost in the Waves) or an easy example (Icy Waters).

Icy Waters
Icy Waters
Above
Icy Waters
Icy Waters

Words do not describe how much I love Icy Waters.  I can hear that song, and no matter what my mood is I'll start smiling.  The Frozen Veil is easily one of my favorite areas, and it's a fantastic reward for exploring the game.

Above gets bonus points for its introduction.  Breaching the surface for the first time (upside down, whoops  ;D) was truly breathtaking, partly due to this song.

I suppose I might as well list three more.

Cathedral
Dark Places (both for much the same reason as Arachne)
and Undiscovered Waters, which replaced The Traveller as my idea of the main theme for most of the game

But here's an interesting one.

I was fighting the Tree Mother in the Kelp Forest.  The vine/snake things were giving me a lot of trouble, and in my panic I tried to open the menu to chow on some Poultices.  Unfortunately, I hit F1 instead, opening the help menu.  I think I might've died at the same time.

So when the game reloads, I'm back at the Save Crystal...and Naija's gone.  Totally missing.  Hilariously, I can still activate the songs (although the song disc doesn't appear, and there are no effects), and I can trigger the form changes with the hotkeys.

I killed aquaria.exe before I took any screenshots or experimented any more, unfortunately.  Has this ever happened to anybody else?

Ah, thank you Chibi!  :)  I don't know which method to send it...so why not both?  Sorry in advance for the spam, Alec...

In this topic:  Everybody whines to Alec to get their version of Aquaria updated! :D

Nah, just kidding.  I know you're super busy, Alec.  I did send you an email, sir, but I didn't include any information.  What do I need to provide to get it reactivated? :)

Alternatively, is there a way to transfer from Plimus to Steam? >_> I'm not particularly familiar with Steam, so blah.

Um...all of them?  =p  Plus some new stuff.  A new song from Jenna ("Fear the Dark"), some remixes, and a preview for Marian (the latest game from the Infinite Ammo crew)

It makes me strangely happy that the game and booklet come in a ziploc bag :D  It took a while to ship, and the website wouldn't track like I thought it would, but I'm very much enjoying it :)  Thank you, Alec, for such a beautiful soundtrack!

"At first I was scared because of this huge thing in the water.  But then I decided to jump in..."

Never noticed that part of the interview...mad props to Mr. Brazilian Science Guy.

And I don't want to lose my awesome game!  ;;

Is there a way to keep the game/get a new copy for my fresh hard drive?

Clearly the topic creator is getting the help he wants.  8D

I liked the game a lot.  compared to the other two games, it's noticeably weaker, and the last stretch is lame.  But it's not a bad game at ALL.

The Boost Guardian is definitely the most annoying fight of the game.  All I can say is, keep your eye on him and the SECOND he turns into a ball, do the same and start mashing the A button like you're bomb jumping in Super Metroid.  Kill the Inglings as quick as possible, they'll drop health and ammo.  When you knock him out of the ball (ie, he becomes a blob), you can unmorph and target him to do more damage than bombs.

...I think.  Admittedly, it's been a real long time since i've played the game, but that's most of what I remember.

There were nudibranches?  I don't remember, sorry...was it in the snail cave?

The frog.  I never knew about a safe spot, so the only way I could beat him was spamming the Reflect song.  The others were hard, but not quite as annoying.

And...I actually kinda liked the Octopus fight.  >_>

Wace, that's a pretty good idea.  I also have a Thinkpad tablet PC (probably should've mentioned that in the first post  :D).  However, I also use a mouse a lot whenever I'm sitting at a desk, along with the tablet for taking notes, so having to change the SDLs whenever I want to switch back and forth isn't that fun.  Do you have a pointer nub on your laptop?  If you do, can you see if it will still work with the modified SDLs?

The music also picks up considerably like it does for all the other bosses.  >_>

Unless you play with the volume off.  In which, shame on you!
