Games / Re: Webzen SUN Welcomes Ijji Players!
« on: November 12, 2010, 03:28:24 pm »
Well, SUN stands for Soul of the Ultimate Nation, and it's a Free to Play Hack n' Slash MMORPG. I've asked GMLucy on the Webzen Forums to see about becoming a Community Support Manager so I can help end the hostility between Ijji and Webzen, so hopefully I get the position.

Here's the official website link if you're interested: http://sunonline.webzen.com/

Now, you're able to download it and make an account, but U.S. Service won't start until December 06th, so you'll either have to wait, or Proxy your IP Address to a European one to play it.

Also, if you're interested in SUN, you should try Vindictus, it's a fun little Hack 'n Slash that's just come out of closed beta. Look for "Lionell" in-game if you download it.  :)

Vindictus Link: http://vindictus.nexon.net/

And yeah, it was painful a bit after I got home, but it's not that bad now. Still pretty sore, but better than hurting like hell. I just can't eat any hard foods or I'll rip out the stitches and the blood clots and end up getting Dry Socket. VERY painful. 'Nuff said.

Edit: Just tried out the PC version of Darksiders at a friend's house. Bloody horrible. They don't even have an option to modify the graphics through both in-game OR through a .ini file. Way to Fail, THQ.

Games / Webzen SUN Welcomes Ijji Players!
« on: November 12, 2010, 03:04:24 pm »
Hi. I don't know if any of you play SUN, but on Ijji's side, it's a crappy game with little to no updates. On Webzen's side however, the game is bustling with life. Before, players from the U.S. were IP Banned from playing Webzen's SUN. But now, Ijji has agreed to drop their service starting December 6th.

WARNING: There are still hostilities between a handful of both Ijji and Webzen players. Please, if you play SUN, just avoid it as much as possible.

Here is the link to the official announcement, VIA Webzen Forums:

My forum name on Webzen is Nero13** (Last two numbers blocked for account safety)

Oh well. It's good enough to deserve mention as one of Aquaria's tracks. (And it actually is on my version.)

So pthht.

I'd have to say...

1. Lost to the Waves
2. Fear the Dark (Sad, but still amazing.)
3. Sunken
4. Sun Temple
5. Title

General / Re: Core reason you like Aquaria
« on: November 08, 2010, 08:56:04 pm »
I'd have to say that it was the music that won me over the most. From the first time I started Aquaria up, I was overwhelmed with a wave of totally calming music. It also influenced the emotions I felt when I was in certain areas. With the Kelp Forest, I was amazed at how detailed and "alive" it felt. With the Mithalas Cathedral, I would end up acting extremely cautious (which was a first with me, as I normally just charge head-on into trouble), and when I started to finally reach the lower levels of the cathedral, I actually pulled back for a bit. Not to mention when I finally encountered "you know who" in the lower levels, i almost fell out of my chair in surprise, because I was so immersed in the game. (no pun intended.)

The entire story of Naija's adventures was VERY well written, and at times, touching. In many ways, it relayed the experiences I endured, for example, feeling like I was entirely alone, throughout the school year. The game-play was very well designed, aside from one bug fighting "you know who" in "you know where", where Naija was grabbed by him, and couldn't get free for the rest of the entire battle, so I had to use Nature Form to beat him, herding him to the other side of the map to "eat thorn" as it were. (Using the thorns to herd him over there, of course.)

All in all, this has been a superb experience overall. I know it sounds like I'm reviewing the entire game instead of just picking the core reason I like Aquaria, but then again, who doesn't, when one has enough good to say about it?

Aquaria will definately have a place on my shelf and in my heart for MANY years to come. I thank you, Alec and Derek, for bringing such a beautiful gem of a game to fruition.

Gameplay / Re: The End (Possible Spoilers)

Hm. Well I would have said "as popular as the Harry Potter series", but... the books aren't really as popular any more, and the movie series is coming to a close, what with the Three-Part "Deathly Hallows" coming out soon. (Apparently it's also going to be a "Theaters Only" deal over here, as in once they finish off Deathly Hallows and just about everyone's seen it, it's gone for good.)

Aye, it would. Was just a suggestion. And you never know, a book based on the events that took place in Aquaria could be as popular as the Twilight Series, or it might not. Only one way to find out. (Also, blech. Twilight. Senor "DERP" Sparkle Butt can go shove that stake where it hurts most. In fact, he may have already done that, as evidenced by this: http://7tattoo.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/edward_cullen_by_kittygoth1.jpg)

Gameplay / The End (Possible Spoilers)
« on: November 07, 2010, 07:11:30 am »
The ending to Aquaria (even if it wasn't the "true" ending), was just plain beautiful. I congratulate the devs for making such an awesome game. Although the exploring was a tad boring at times, that's all that I saw that was even the SLIGHTEST bit wrong with the game. (Aside from the annoying "minimize-after-every-panel" bug, but that's probably because I had Firefox open in the background.) Anyways, thank-you for introducing such a wonderful game and story to the world. (Well, most of it anyways.)

I can feel it in my gut, that if you were to make Aquaria into a book, you would most likely get a lot of buyers. (I know I would. Sure, games like this are great, but books detailing the game are what keep the memory of things like this alive, in my honest opinion.)

Even though it wasn't the true ending, it was still touching.

And you know, if you don't plan on making a sequel, you could always try the alternative, making said "sequel" into a book alongside the first. I don't know if that's more expensive than making a game itself or not, but it would be a good way to get some "closure", as it is now, what with "you know who" getting on "you know what" and going off to look for (supposedly) Naija.

 - With every thanks in the world,
 Percival.

Off-Topic / Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hello. I tend to prefer anonymity, so you can call me by my screen name, Percival. (Of course, you already knew what it was, didn't you?) I'm 16, live in a quaint little apartment with my parents (AMAZING view of the sunset off the back porch, by the way), and as far as fun facts go.. Hm. I guess you could say I'm a bit of an earlybird when it comes to gaming. I tend to play until the crack of dawn, and then crash for the rest of the day. I guess that's it, so... Hi.

P.S: I almost forgot. I'd really appreciate it if you didn't call me Percy. I really dislike that. Same goes for "P", Perci, Perc, Perciv, and the like. If you're going to call me anything at all, then call me Percival. Please and Thank you.
