Not terribly.

I don't think there's a problem with asking a question of Alec, so long as people don't pester or nag.  still, there's plenty of time left before February.  Alec's a hard working dude, just give him some time and he'll probably post an update.

Still, your call, i can't speak for everyone.

Interesting interpretation.  The February I was refering to was 8 months ago and the last WIP update was in July, I posted to show my surprise at this turn of events.  Best wishes to Alec and crew, I bet they haven't even seen the bulk of their sales yet.

Call me impatient but when I read about the patch I thought we'd get it before February.  Would everyone here be terribly offended if I asked Alec to hurry up?

General / Re: The Widescreen Thread
« on: February 12, 2008, 09:50:30 am »
So glad to hear you are addressing this issue Alec!

I'm sure many widescreen users would be happy to play in 1280x800 if they have an older video card.  I was playing in 1024x768 on my 24" 1920x1200 monitor because anything higher has graphical glitches.  The lower quater of the screen flickers black and I think the background is offset also .  This is on a GeForce 8800GTS.

General / Aquaria press release?
« on: December 17, 2007, 12:56:14 am »
I regularly read www.bluesnews.com and www.shacknews.com and it looks like neither one has announced Aquaria's release yet.  Maybe there are more sites that haven't covered the release yet, is there a strategy here to managing traffic volume or is Bit-Blot just busy?  Either way I guess timing isn't crucial with a non-multiplayer game outside the retail environment.

Support / Abyss door cannot be opened with xbox 360 controller

You right click on it with the mouse but with a gamepad Naija will bounce off the door before you have the opportunity to activate it.

Gameplay / Re: Possible bug with phirana pet?
« on: December 16, 2007, 09:41:02 pm »
Funny, I was sure it was a bug too.  Another odd behavior with that pet, it seems to latch on to medium sized enemies from 8 ft away sometimes.  So then it is floating 8 ft from its prey without moving (relative to prey).

Have you moved the crystal yet?  I think you have everything you need.

Oooh neat.  A little horrifying too.  If I sing off-key, could it recognize the relative tonal variation?

Gameplay / Re: *spoilers* stuck in the abyss
« on: December 16, 2007, 09:18:40 pm »
I have Li, Sun, and Spirit form.  Killed the jellyfish boss and the crab above the ice lake.  I'm left with a door with Li's symbol, a giant tongue among spikes, a pearl-activated door, and an apathetic whale.  There was a post on here talking about the voice I heard so I wonder if that is what I need.

Gameplay / *spoilers* stuck in the abyss
« on: December 16, 2007, 11:44:02 am »
I believe I missed something where I heard a voice.  I didn't find anything at the time and now I don't know where that was.  I'm not excited about having to comb the Abyss all over again for the 3rd time, can anyone tell me exactly where I need to go?  This location could really use a landmark icon on the map.  Still digging the game a lot.

Off-Topic / Web site outage day after launch

Just curious what happened there, did Bit-Blot and the hosting service have different ideas on what was appropriate bandwidth usage?

Support / Re: Weird Graphical Bug
« on: December 11, 2007, 03:20:38 am »
Try running the game in 800x600 or 1024x768, the higher resolutions have graphical errors and inexcplicably low frame rates on my geforce 8800gts.

I've got the same problem on a geforce 8800gts

Support / Xbox 360 controller does not work
« on: December 10, 2007, 07:11:11 am »
Normally I would have assumed it just wasn't supported but someone here said it did work.

I've tried playing Aquaria with the gamepad box checked and unchecked.  The microsoft software is installed and up to date.  The controller does work for a commercial "Games for Windows" (bleah) game.

So my question is, is the Xbox 360 wired controller really supported?

Support / Re: Workaround for scaling issues on some monitors!
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:52:10 am »
Changed it to 1900x1200  and it works fine.  I've literally only looked at it for a couple of seconds but there's some screenies to show it working

Well not quite, but I agree it is very nice to play the game in fullscreen on a widescreen monitor.   This causes a 33% horizontal stretch however.  The game engine only renders a 4:3 aspect without regard to resolution.

You can test for stretching by comparing a screenshot when our fish girl is completely horizontal and then vertical.

I do hope the devs support 16:10 aspect as I think it is preferable to have a full image w/ relatively limited vertical visibility than to have large black bars cropping the image.
