Awesome on the Steam front!  Congrats on the progress

Well Vista is being scrapped I heard.  The next OS they're developing is totally different.   Kind of what they did when Windows ME was such a bust.
Vista is really unreliable: when the phasing out of Windows XP began, I immediately bought another copy so that if I get a new laptop, I'll be able to stick with my favorite os. (It's only my favorite because it's so familiar; if I wasn't so used to Windows, I would have immediately bought a Mac)  :)

LOL Where the hell do you kids get this crap from?  Vista has been a fantastic OS especially since SP1 came out.  Stop believing the lies that stupid bloggers and Apple ads tell you and try it for yourself.

Scrapping Vista?  Windows 7 drastically different?  As someone who's actually seen and used Windows 7 for myself, you couldn't be more wrong, yet there is a whole lot that even intelligent bloggers like Paul Thurrott still don't know about.

October 25th, PDC - stay tuned.

I'm glad to hear that you've decided to start trying to communicate with them again!  I already own Aquaria, but the larger audience sure couldn't hurt.

Valve's practices with Steam lately definitely have been questionable though.  First we have the Braid guy Jonathon Blow echoing your sentiments on how hard it is to get in contact with them.  Then Capcom goes and canceles their Steam release of Bionic Commando: Rearmed.  Then one of the PAX 10 guys I talked to said similar things.

Now we have EA games showing up on digital services other than their own EA Downloader - something I didn't expect to happen - yet their games still aren't showing up on Steam despite a great distribution relationship between Valve and EA.

It really sounds like Valve needs to expand - you look at them, 150 spread between Steam, multiple games, and support, compared to a company like Harmonix that has 280 people working on Rock Band and not much else...it gets quite clear why Valve is having such supposed troubles.  In the case of Aquaria, why *WOULDN'T* they want to put it up?  Even if it only attracts a small audience, it's not like they'd lose money from it.

Anyway, good luck in all of this.

That's awesome Derek!  Congrats on the deserved publicity.  A couple weeks ago, Kathleen asked on the 1Up boards what people wanted to see, and me and a bunch of other people clamored for Aquaria.  Not sure if your appearance on the show was already in the works before that, but either way it was good seeing you on there  :)

Wow, I never thought I'd see the day that someone took more time to critique the freaking menus and installation to the game than I actually saw those windows for.

This "critique" is nothing more than the most ridiculous nit-picking I've ever seen, coming from an extremely unfortunate soul who apparently went into the game trying to pick apart every stupid little detail possible.

I did it the 3rd time the same way I did it the first two times.

there is an empty orb socket towards the upper-right of the area just outside of your home, and the white orb you need is in a little cove just below that socket.

Did anyone else manage to use any new powers you get after killing that last boss?  I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if it's just a demo limitation.

There is a specific spot right after you get into "open waters" where the demo ends.  I was pleasently surprised - the demo took me nearly 2 hours to finish!

The one thing I was confused about was after you killed the boss where you lead him into the laser beam thing, I didn't seem to get any other powers.  It said that the rage was simmering beneath me....but I couldn't do anything new.  Was that a limitation of the demo?  It seemed like there were barriers I should have been able to break through but nothing...
