Gameplay / ...haven't i seen this before ???
« on: December 20, 2007, 08:00:46 pm »
In another thread someone asked what that shelly black thing in the farest south west of the veil (that one you can't kill) is...
I think... well... I saw it somewhere before... at least somehing that MOVED just liked it and had vermy simillar shape...

and then I thought... jep... it reminds of this

and the statue in the erngy temple that holds the pearl... didn't they remind you
of ...... this   ????

Or the creatures that jump from wall to wall... did nobody think of this
when he/she saw them for the first time ?

Or the enemys in mithalas that ... shid (?) these red dots out of theire... whatever they have down there
didn't they remind you (only a bit) of this ?

I allready started to wonder that nobody opened a thread "thinks that reminded you of metroid"
...so now I'm doing it ^^

so - did anyone find other allusions ?

(btw - I think nobody mentioned it before, but did you know that when you hold down the left mouse button in the main menu, the little fishis start to swim faster and circle wider around the cursor ? no ? now you do)

greetz, Eric

Gameplay / Re: Minigame (spoilers, I guess)

I think the biggest pain in the ass was, as I (like usually when I have to play simon says in a video game) tried to write down what i have to mimic... but it didn't work 'cuz of the time limit.
Anyway it was fun for me^^ If you don't like it, don't play it - it's only optional.

Here are some things that might help you:
1: the Visual thing: draw in youre mind a line from each "note-colour-circle-whateveritscalled" and try to remember the geometrical form. Or at least try to remember the geometrical form of the first 3 or 4 notes, so you dont have to remember every single note. only the last 4.
2:the musical thing: just try to sing along the melody. if you play an instrument it shouldn't be very hard (worked very well for me)
3:the Teamwork thing: let a friend help you - let him remember the first 4 notes and you remember the last 4 notes. Pretty easy.

So stop crying like an emo and get it done.

It's just like back than on planet Zebes, there weren't any clues either
I'd say it was more like being back inside the Castle.

...I would say it's the same - only that on Zebes there were no spoken word... in the castle there was.
but doesn't matter if castle or zebes - same amount of clues - nearly zero
but metroid invented this total freeroaming adventure style and castlevania just copied it *ducking and running away*
c'mon fanboiz - I wanna see some blood  ;D

I don't get it... why the hell is everybody complaining about no given directions...
I mean - this game is an exploring game... it was said 2 years before that it's going to be an exploring
adventure and that exploring is very important and so on and so on...
Now tell me where is the sense in an exploring game if you get directions or clues...
That wouldn't be exploring. And It's bull that mithalas is too hard in the beginning. I did it before I entered kelp forest
and the veil... and I had no probs ( except the boss... but after 1 hour of brute force and many aggressions later, when I realized he's not to beat with only shooting - it was very satisfying to see that son of a UnicornT-RexMutant die )

what I wanted to say: this is an exploring game...
so if you don't like exploring on youre own, ask youre mommy to help ya or don't download this game.
To complain about a not existing finger that tells you where to go next in a FREE exploring game would be like complaining about a missing love story in DOOM.

by the way - I love that you have absolutely no clue where to go to next, if anybody didn't notice ;)

Ya, death note is great, but it really gets weaker after 20...
Full metal alchemist is definetly great.
I'm wondering that nobody mentioned Hayao Miyazaki. Are there really anime fans who don't love his movies ?

Gameplay / first impressions
« on: December 08, 2007, 05:38:26 am »
Hi.
I Just played the game and wanted to open a topic to give a little feedback.
It's beatiful.  I love it.
The atmospheres sucks you in and you forget about the world above the surface...
The control and movement is so smooth and intuitive...
I didn't watch the final teaser and 7 minutes of aquaria not to spoil any of the amzing features - so that I can explore them on my own... and you totally blew me away with the "things" that you collect that pimp up najas cave...  great Idea and very lovely ^^
I allready saw Nautilus prime - and man, she gave me the creeps cause I don't have any spells to fight her XD

Spoiler!!! (???)
the only thing that bothered me was that (in the intro) you could see (too) clearly that the person on the bridge was naja in human form...
or am I wrong ? no, don't tell - wanna find out myself ;)

so - alec and derek: Great work - I'm absolutely impressed

just now my clock says that it's one minute after midnight... I live in germany...
looks like it's going to be a looong night ^^
the worst part is that I'm so exited that I don't know what to do with myself while I'm waiting... maybe I'll play a little good old metroid or Final Fantasy tactix (... man Orlandeu is definitly too strong)

This Topic started with a link to Satan Sams page. I absolutely disagree with the one that said that he made a gme similar to aquaria. But I know his page for a while and he has no team - all his games are made just by him. And they're not bad. His current project is Tormishire - a very promising metroidvanian adventure. Maybe you should check him out if you got nothing else to do than hit the F5 button to look if aquaria is released.

by the way - I'm from germany and right now it's already after 8 in the evening... hope I can play Aquaria toaday... please ? ^^

To be honest Guys, the final word is Aquario.
Aquaria doesn't exist and everything is fake - instead they created a underwater Mario - clone and just wanted attention.

naaa - not really ^^
but... you know - I just read the two lines I wrote above and I get a horror when I amagine that there may be a  parallel universe where it actually is like this...
I'm so sorry for my alternative-parralel self  :'(

« on: December 03, 2007, 09:42:40 pm »
I can only repeat what everybody here said before: the game is definitly worth 30 bucks (even if nobody of us has played it jet ;)  )
But as far as I know/believe/hope/whatever is aquaria a full game experience. And what do you pay for a new Ps3 game? a lot more and whadda ya get ? You get often a game only produced to make money with hyper shizzle needles 3d graphics. And what offers aquaria ? A game made with ambition and love.

The limited edition is a great Idea by the way.

... just wow...
I like the angel and how you put him/her/ it (?) in the Background to make him look this gigantic.
Is there an artwork Gallery to unlock in the final Game ?
