Gameplay / Re: Jungle, City, Or Abyss. Where do i go? :(
« on: December 19, 2007, 04:06:40 am »
I have now finished the Sun-Temple and explored all of the Abyss I can reach (because of the new ability of course). But the only thing I found was the Jelly-boss which I don't have to beat (I'm not good enough anyway). So how do I progress now? Where is the next "temple" or essential form for Naija? Is it in the Abyss? (I guess not)

Play through the whole game by using your mouse on your belly, not a mousepad. If you've done that (without ever lifting the mouse a bit) you have type in a secret password by eating the corresponding keys of your keyboard in the right order.
Of course this only works if you have an optical mouse, because how should a ball-mouse know when you're playing on your belly?

Yeah for Eurogamer 7/10 is actually quite a good score.

And another question:

Would it be possible to implement a function where you could map the quick-buttons (1, 2, 3 etc.) for forms to joypad-buttons?
I'm thinking of the directional pad, would be nice.

After reading the last page I have two questions:

1. How do I shoot in Beast form (I know what button to hit - right mouse -, and I did shoot already in it, but it doesn't seem to work anymore)?

2. How exactly can I quickly change between forms? (edit: forget that question, I just found out)

the Jelly-Boss is too frickin' hard for me. Can't defeat him with either mouse or gamepad, the little jellies and his beams always kill me quite fast.

Do I even have to defeat him or is he optional (and propably gives me a new pet)?

Is there rumble support for 360-pads now, or not?

Because I interpretet this paragraph:

"But the 360 specific stuff adds some neat lil' extras.

(rumble, use of the right stick, mapped start + back buttons, stick-in, etc)"

of your last post like that. As if there was rumble. Is there?

Also have a Logitech (Cordless) Rumblepad, and if I'd known that there is rumble in the game I would've posted earlier.
It would be really neat if rumble would be supported for rumble-gamepads, not just the 360Pad.
I have no idea how diffecult it would be to implement, though.

General / Re: Aquaria with Wii Remote [video]
« on: December 16, 2007, 07:04:05 pm »
The only problem I can think of is the issue I saw in the support forum where someone couldn't get a gamepad and mouse to work at the same time. If I attach the nunchuck, I would have to "bind" the analog control stick of the nunchuck to a "virtual" gamepad at the same time the remote is "bound" to a virtual mouse.

Couldn't you just map the WASD keys to the Nunchuk analogue-stick? Sure, it wouldn't be analogue anymore, but I think Aquaria anyhow only has two swimming speeds (not sure about that).

But yeah, playing with Wiimote and Nunchuck would be absolutely sweet.

I find it extremely hard to dodge all the little jellys, especially since after a few seconds there are tons (easily more then 20).
Any tricks or secret tactics? Because these little jellys are really annoying.

This could just be one of those things my crazy German teacher said, but didn't the German government offically outlaw ß or something?  :D

Only in some cases ;)

The rule goes (more or less) as follows:
If the vowel preceding the ß (in old writing) is pronounced (!) short, then "ß" will be replaced by double "s". For example "daß" becomes "dass".
If the vowel is pronounced long on the other hand the "ß" remains. For example "Spaß" remains the same. For a native speaker the rule isn't that difficult.

I suppose this does not mean the forest ;)
But rather some region that is below the one's I've uncovered yet.
I'll try that.

If somebody would translate the game into German you wouldn't really need the "Umlaute" (ä, ö, ü), because you can substitute them by using vowel & e (ae, oe, ue). Also you could use double s (ss) instead of the sharp s (ß). It wouldn't be pretty, and propably some German natives would stumble upon these compromises, but it would work nonetheless.

Off-Topic / Re: Canadian, eh?
« on: December 15, 2007, 04:55:25 pm »
I'm not really from Canada, but visiting a seminar called "Performing ethnicity in early-20th-century Canada" this semester.
Then I've also watched this Canadian TV-Series called "Slings & Arrows" which I loved (and still love, still have the 3rd season left).

These were more or less the only contacts I had with Canada and Canadian culture (except maybe for Rodney McKay).
Propably more than the average American (I'm not American).

Gameplay / Bug after Sun-Temple?
« on: December 15, 2007, 04:45:55 pm »
I came to the top of sun-temple yesterday to be informed that I had uncovered "two of Naija's memories".
But after that came only one movie-sequence (one without any speech in it, with this human guy on the boat meeting Naija).

I was wondering if this is maybe a minor bug.

So now I have no idea where to go next or what to do next? Please help ;)
