Gameplay / Re: Whale Melody doesn't work
« on: December 03, 2009, 07:11:39 pm »
Had the same problem.  Either I didn't see the first note or forgot it on the way to the whale.  :P

Anyway, I didn't feel like swimming all the way back to recheck the song.   Thanks for the info.

Edit:  Oops.  there I go with thread necromancy once again.  Sorry.   :-[

Alec, have you looked into using a PayPal shopping cart?

On a side note, Infinite Ammo appears to be down.

I ordered one this morning!  ;D
Totally on the bandwagon with the signed copy.

Um, iTunes does allow you to rip CDs and put them on your iPod last time I checked.  iTunes may be cheaper and their delivery time is nearly instant, but how can you pass up real CDs and beautiful artwork?!?  Kids these days.  :P

Gameplay / Lost in Open Waters
« on: November 17, 2009, 06:37:25 pm »
I have suddenly become aware that I've spent over 3 hours wandering aimlessly in Open Waters and some of the areas beyond as much as I apparently can with only Shield, Bind, and Energy form.  I've even explored part of The Abyss with the help of some luminescent jellies.

If you would be so kind, I would appreciate two minor clues.

What is the name of the area I should really focus on exploring now?

How long is the average first play-through of Aquaria?

Thanks!

I just scanned through this thread and I have to say all of the work that has been submitted here is brilliant!  I certainly hope to see and hear more!  ^-^

I check OCRemix fairly regularly and they've definitely exposed me to quite a few games I probably never would have heard of otherwise.  This remix probably would have pulled me here, if I hadn't already stumbled onto Aquaria by accident.

If I were to speculate, I would say the Mac version doesn't like the PNG files from the Windows version.  That really doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but then again there's probably some quirk I'm not aware of.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a Mac or the Mac version of Aquaria so I really can't help with the mod problem.

On the other hand, if you reinstall Aquaria it should restore the proper original files you need to see Naija.

Actually, Varnok, if you're into art anyway, check out the following location in your Aquaria installation.

Aquaria\gfx\naija

You can use any of the sets as a template for your character.

If your not big on making the sprites, go ahead and post the drawings you have and I might be able to work on translating it to functional sprite parts.

Support / Re: New Purchase received 1.1.1 - Key Config crash
« on: November 16, 2009, 06:33:04 am »
I noticed that when I renamed usersettings.xml while experimenting to diagnose the problem.  Thank you for the insight that the default file doesn't have all the info.

Even after modifying my settings file with the demo and manually copying it to the full version folder I still get the Key Config I get the actionInput: Look crash.  I manually added an entry to usersettings.xml as suggested in the linked thread and received an actionInput crash error for ToggleHelp.

I found the problem!
The default usersettings.xml does not have entries for Look and ToggleHelp.  I manually added them and I am now able to access Key Config in the full version.

Support / Re: Autoaim only works while moving
« on: November 16, 2009, 04:01:13 am »
I would like to verify Mika's observations.  Autoaim does indeed appear to be always on regardless of the Config setting.  I also adjusted the Stick 2 values to X=2 Y=3.  I believe this matches my gamepad configuration.  I received the same results, manual aim only appears to fire Up, Down, or Backward.  Never Forward or inbetween.

Edit: Fix for Manual aim!
I'm not entirely sure what's going on here because my Windows 7 control pannel is missing Gaming Options, but I got manual aim to work.
I'm using XBCD v1.07.  By default the right stick X axis is set to RX while most joysticks i've used in the past use Z.  On the Xbox tab I set the Right Stick X values to Left = Z-, Right = Z+.  On the Windows tab I made sure that Z and RY are enabled and register input.  In Aquaria I set Stick 2 values to X=2 Y=3.

Either Aquaria doesn't poll the RX value or I just can't figure out what number to put for it.  Either way, this should work if you're using an old Xbox controller and XBCD.  If the drivers for your gamepad allow remapping the stick axis a similar procedure should work for you.

Support / New Purchase received 1.1.1 - Key Config crash
« on: November 15, 2009, 10:59:59 pm »
I purchased Aquaria the other day and downloaded Aquaria111.2008.12.12.exe from the link provided to me.
I'm running Windows 7 and have installed Aquaria in a location not monitored by the UAC.

The first time I attempted to access Key Config it worked, but I didn't notice a listing for "Look" which is what I was trying to change.

Now when I try to access Key Config, Aquaria crashes.  I saw a topic on fixing this problem and tried a few things, but it appears that several objects are missing from my usersettings.xml file.  I'm assuming from observation that Aquaria trunkated anything it thought wasn't defined from the XML file or some bug is messing it up.

I also read that a version 1.1.2 is suposedly available that fixes this problem.  Is it actually out?  How do I obtain it?

Thanks!

Edit: Big oops here.  Apparently I never actually opened Key Config in the full version, I only accessed it in the demo.  So, here's a temporary solution to my problem: I'm using the demo to customize my key config and then copying the usersettings.xml file to my copy of the full version.

BTW, I purchased the stand-alone version.  I have no love for Steam.

Could someone repost the Pirate mod?  I just got into Aquaria and I'd really like to see it.

Thanks.
