Astrylian:  Hey, that's a good point.  I'm thinking checkbox too.  This video should at least show what's going on with both modes.

 YouTube Video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZPba3-4InU
OK.  This took LONGER than expected. >:(
Finally got some reference video of the differences between the "mouse mode" and "pen mode" tablet settings.

Mouse mode:
Works perfect with Aquaria, of course.

Tablet mode:
errr.
If you try and move the cursor to the center of the screen, it will immediately seek the edge of the screen.  The cursor stays along the edge until you touch the tablet to try and move it.  If you try to balance the cursor in the middle of the screen ( I tried that at about 2:18ish) you can get it to almost stay on Naija.  But as soon as you try to click, it'll shoot to the outer edges of the screen.  And it just stays there.  You can see the times when I tried moving the cursor to center of the screen, and it just seeks the opposite side of the screen. (around 2:27 & 2:40).  It's kinda frustrating but it makes for some good laughs!  There's probably some trick to convert pen to mouse coordinates or something like that.

Good Stuff!
That all pretty much sums up how my pen works.

It has just one thumb button.  So you rock one way for button 1, and the other way for button 2.  I tried setting one button to right click, and one to middle click.  That made the boss fights HORRID. ???

little side note:
There are also buttons on the tablet that you can setup.  I finally just set one to middle click, and one to ctrl/right click.  It makes things a little bit interesting, and annoying since the buttons make a *click**click* sound.  (I get the cam today, so the video of the mouse vs. pen mode is still coming)

Some screenshots for reference,  incase someone has this same prob in the future.

*late post alert*
COOL
Kal:
And don't forget about changing to Naija's original form by right clicking and tapping the tablet (left click) at the same time.  argg!

Alec:
Thought I'd have the video to post by today, but it's coming out weird.  I think I'll just have to borrow a usb cam, and do a little demo that way.

For now, I'm just posting a couple of screenshots of the wacom tablet setup menus.  These should help explain things a little bit more.  The first option screen shows what I meant by the tablet to screen mapping.  The ENTIRE tablet drawing area is mapped to your computer screen.  When you touch the upper left part of the tablet, the mouse pointer appears on the upper left of your screen, etc, etc.  The second option screen makes the pen tab act like  a regular mouse.  I'll try to have a vid up on YouTube verrry soonish, guys.....

This option maps the pen tablet drawing area to the computer screen:

This option makes the pen act like a regular mouse (this is the good option  8) ):

Wow, I had the SAME problem when I first ran the game, but I found out how to fix it.  The pen actually works pretty good.

Not sure what type of tablet/tabPC you guys have, but I have a Wacom pen tablet.  So I'm guessing that some variation of this should work for other pen tablets too.  If you go into the Wacom Tablet Properties, or the setup menu for your tablet, you should see a section for setting the "Mapping" of your tablet.  If you make sure that the Mode is set to "Mouse" and not "Pen", then everything should start working.  This fixes the arrow being stuck in the corner thingy.  Heh, I guess the one-to-one point mapping setting on the tablet throws things off a little bit.  Hope this helps!

You should post Jet Set Radio in the games we've loved section for sure.  That game was  :o.

... I can appreciate the difficulty in getting opinions from people on this kind of thing.

So, sooo, very true.  But, crits do make you so much more aware as an artist of any type.

...  Still, I like where you're headed and have no reason to believe the soundtrack will be anything less than addictive.  Keep it up.  =)

And i'll bet that 100% of the people who first heard the music in the aquaria teaser, after that first time of hearing it, had it stuck in their head.  It definitely was stuck in my head.  And i can honestly say that i've never heard that track anywhere else before.  Or any variation of the other 3.  And just 30secs got you hooked!  To me, that's a sign of uniqueness in my books.

Soothing and ambiance, like Krissy said, are definitely a must.  And synthies like Q said.  I think Ian made a good point.  If you've listened to some of the ecco tracks, you'll notice that many of them sound as if they fit ecco perfectly.  The musical instruments are used to mimic the sounds of a dolphin which was neat.  But, I'm already loving the idea of Naija singing and the musical note combinations and all.  Should make for some good gameplay. I think that because Naija is a mere-being/humanish that would fit her and the game perfectly.  I like the idea of the other worldly vocal sounds too.

I love the Voyage track though.  You just gave me eccoitis.  ^-^

So, anyway.

As long as it sounds  absolutely, exactly, perfectly, 100% like Aquaria that'll be fine.   8)  How about Just put those three samples on repeat throughout the whole game and it'll be cool.  I agree with Q, more than that and our heads might eXPloDe.   @.@

Just thought i'd add this.
it's called Flow
http://www.crazygames.com/game/flow
FLOW-test your attention span

This was one I had next for posting.  I got beat though with Derek's post on TIGs. ???  And it brought out the pirana and some good talks too.  This game looks nice.  It's one of those "I could have thought this up" games.  (hope you don't have a short attention span).  And the guy, Jenova Chen http://www.thatgamecompany.com/ , who did this for his "MFA thesis"   :o    got a nice deal on Sony's PS3.  I don't know Block Sum....   ehh?  or not.

It's downloadable.  It just has a nice flowing, soothing feel to it.

I could see this maybe on the DS and Wii too.   or not.

Bio-hazard Battle

I should really stop posting, but this game is a must play.

This is one of those "full-package"  side scrolling shooters on par with the R-Type series.

And once again this is one of those games that I was happy i bought.  This is one of those rare  games that had the superb sprite animation(lots of secondary sprite anim going on), excellent pacing, unbelievable bosses, scenery, and the soundtrack......  What you hear in the youTube video below is not even a taste of the entire games soundtrack.  Each track some how fits your location in the world perfectly.  Unlike the frenzied pace of Gunstar Heros, this one has more of a flow to it.  Everything that happens in the game is seamlessly timed.

I think the story line could have been a little bit deeper, but hey what can you expect from a story about a bio-mechanical group of ships fighting on a planet infested with multi-winged-floating-things and mechanical swarms of giant wasps.  But an overall great game(not a one day-r though)

And guess who's getting this one too.  Wiiiiiiii!  I need a Wii so, so bad.

Here's the YouTube

And since you mentioned Streets of Rage! :D

http://www.bombergames.net/sorr.htm

The Streets of Rage Remake: all the characters from all the games running around in levels inspired by the entire series.  And extras!  It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn fun nonetheless.

HOly Cow doo doo Batman!  They're squirting Kool-aid.   :o
