Aquaria will never die.  :)
QFT

Alec and Derek put their best into this game. And it is a very good game.
*wants more* :D

I wonder it they are up to their bargains at the end of Aquaria ... with the big " To be continued... "

will there really be a sequel ?
if so when ?
will we be naija ?

IMHO , i doubt there will be a sequel even tho it says " to be continued... "

Support / Re: NVidia Video Card Crash?
« on: April 11, 2009, 10:13:15 pm »
on my ATI card it used to crash at startup or the game running at 0 to 1 fps
the fix was to update my driver to the most recent one , and to enable the OpenGL triple buffering in my ATI catalyst control panel

What kind of godly monitor do you have that lets you run 400 FPS with vsync?

my bad it run with a smooth constant 60 fps with vsync ( thats the cap can't be higher than 60 with Vsync on )

when i turn it off the game runs fine too , with a 150-250 fps range.

i guess i've measure my 400 fps with the opening Screen ( where it usually was 0-1 fps )

I just solved the problem that i was having with aquaria version 1.0.3

i've updated my driver to the lastest there is ( 9-2_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75977 )
at first it wasnt working it still had the framerates at 0.1 fps but the crashing was gone YAY !
so now i went to the catalyst control center ( right click desktop in case you didnt know )
now go in the 3D settings and check the box Triple buffering under Open GL.
Also disabled Catalyst A.I

if you have a sound issue , make sure you didnt use any compatibility in the properties of aquaria.exe ( like windows98/ME ) if you use a multi-core processeur...
At first the game was working but i had sound issue, i double check the aquaria.exe propertie and saw that it was set to windows 98/ME compatible mode , so i unchecked it , and Voila !

Game is working flawlessly with a nice 60 FPS ( Vsync ON ) ~200 FPS ( Vsync OFF ) no sound issue at all !

BTW some useful info...
PC spec:
AMD Phenom 64 Quad Core 9650 (2.4ghz)
4gig ram OCZ
Sapphire HD4850 512mb ( catalyst v 9.2 )
Realtek HD sound onboard Chipset
Windows vista 64 home premium SP1

Aquaria version 1.0.3

Visual options
  • Fullscreen
  • VSync
  • FrameBuffer Effects
  • Mipmap
  • Resolution                    1280x960
  • Bit Depth                      32

I hope it helps...

for the last laser hit ( when he stop moving ON the laser and stop just before it ) , you need to come close to the dog , for for him until he try to hit you with his claw , then dodge back , hit the white bubble to call the lzer for the last time , and hopefully the laser will hit his claw and he's dead.

WINDOW ACTIVE
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
FMODEX error: 36: Unknown error code
WINDOW INACTIVE

i get about hundreds of those ( windows active & inactive are because i've ctrl+alt+del to hard shutdown the game )

so yeah ... must be a problem with the fmodex.dll files with ATI / AMD ...

alright , i am now using ATI's driver suite 9.2 with the file Atioglxx.dll from the driver 8.4 package
now the game doesnt crash at the " LOADING " screen that is some improvement...
but now i have from 0 to 1 FPS from the logos to the game ( i didnt actually tested in game but .. my guess is it will also be 0 to 1 fps ... )

the game works FLAWLESSLY on my
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ( 2.6ghz )
1gig ram
sapphire x1600xtx
windows XP 32-bit SP3

and barely work ( if you can consider this working ... 0-1 fps )
on my
AMD phenom 64 quad-core ( 2.3 ghz ) ** i've try to run the game with just 1 CPU and it didnt change anything )
4gig ram
sapphire HD4850
windows vista home premium 64-bit

hey ... I can run FAR CRY 2 in dx10 all the graphics maxed out with antialiasing to 8x in my ati profile with a constant 40-60 FPS
but i cant run a 2d game with more than 1 fps ??? you kidding me ...
