General / Re: Looking for Testers for Aquaria iPad
« on: March 31, 2011, 11:05:15 pm »
Man, this is one of the only things I'd love to have an iPad for.
Aquaria is one game I know would be fantastic with touchscreen controls. I used to think maybe on the DS, but the screen's too small to do the graphics justice. Maybe the Next Generation Portable that Sony's talking about will be good for it, though.

Oooh, nice. I've always liked that theme, but never really listened to it as closely. I'd love to see a version of "Remains" but that might be a little more tricky. I'd be willing to buy some friggin sheet music, maybe a piano arrangement of some of the music, even if I'm not good at playing the piano.

Ooh, pretty! I'd never seen the Mac logo. And that's an Aquarian 'A', right?

I've wondered that too. Long before I played Aquaria I was trying to write a story with a semi-aquatic race, and couldn't decide whether their webbed feet should have scales. Anyways, I don't think Naija has scales, but it's not really specified one way or another.

Man, I feel like I'm necroposting or something, but I have the same issue with ED. I don't want to tweak it too much because it keeps crashing on me. What I wouldn't give for a patch to help it run on newer computers.

This looks really fun. An Aquaria shmup! I will have to wait until school is done before I try it, though. Or at least until classes are over.

Thanks. I've been trying to beat Baphomet over the last while, and have concluded that derek is evil. His games murder me, and yet I keep coming back for more.

Ooh! I just beat him. I feel so good about it. This is the thing about tough parts in games; you get a sense of accomplishment when you finally beat them.

Sounds like Zeke asked the same things I was going to ask, since I'm trying to get past Hume. Also, I wasn't sure at first whether that was where I was supposed to go, because the dialogue sounds like I should know more about Mia's father by now. Guess I'll just keep trying to beat him. I've gotten all the items I can right now.

This should get bumped, because this game rocks. I've played it before, and it is so much fun and so addicting.
The controls aren't perfect, but it more than makes up for it in zaniness. I say you should take a look at a gameplay video, or just go buy it. It's one of those games you can just pick up and play, with tons of puzzles and almost limitless ways to solve them. It's great to pass around when you have friends over, too.

Yeah, same here. God forbid two people get into an argument, when nothing anybody else says gets heard.

yeah, I was mostly asking if anyone tended to have random conversations there still. I think most IRC chats seem to be dead most of the time.

Yeah, I think it depends, but something more rhythm-driven compared with something more melody-driven would work. Could also do a comparison between overworld themes and battle themes.

I'd say "The Traveller" or any of the Open Waters for an example of melodic overworld themes (or something a little simpler like "Remains" to show how to set a mood), and something more energetic, maybe "Mithala", which can also show how altering the theme during different stages of a battle can help alter the mood of the battle itself.

That's my take, anywy. Best of luck on the presentation!

Upper one almost looks like a Metroid. ;~;

It totally does! Just needs to more blueish and three nuclei. I still love the baby one in Super Metroid.
