http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_179.28_beta.html

For instance, this is the latest driver type for my laptops Nvidia 9700M GTS. But it's still in Beta form, which may mean certain problems within itself.

I'm not sure i'd go right ahead and update to anything that might be considered the latest video driver, or if it might possibly still be in beta. Because that happens.
Especially to be careful not to install the wrong driver or version.
Fact is, you might have certain other games installed that prefer another type of driver. So then that one may have its own issues.

Personaly, I run a lot of 3D games, so I don't know how much of a good idea that would be for me.

Thanks, I figured it out. Wasn't sure were to look for the info, but I found the mod guide.

As far as any modding goes, Im fairly new. Tried some 3D mods before this in other games, but nothing special, and they were never released.

Realized I forgot an XML file. Starting to get a handle on it now, but need to practice a little. LOL :D

Thanks, that helped a lot. Needed to start practice somewhere, and that's testing level layout.

Good thing I have Photoshop.

Ok, I tried hitting F11 to load my map, but no load screen came up.
I also tried the load level F1, but thats probably for saved level works, if Im not mistaken.
I start by loading the default template, through the mod menu, which gives me that circle shaped thing. Am I using the wrong option?

Is it an actual crash, or is the window just minimizing?

It's a crash for sure. But the error message appears to come from Vista, and not the game itself, as a bubble pops up from the task bar, showing the message explained above.

"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." - Something to that effect.

From what I read so far on all the post, my guess it's some Vista compatibility issue.

Glad this topic came up. On occasion, but not overly annoying, I get the same crash with the Vista OS.

I think it happens mostly around the time of loading a new location, but not always. Also may be other game things going on that cause it. Other than that, I think my laptop should have no problems with it.

My specs: maybe some nonsense, but added what I thought might help.

Modding / Custom Templates Question
« on: December 21, 2008, 04:43:05 am »
Im not planning on doing modding right away; since, I want to finish the game first. Or maybe at least most of the way through. Also, then maybe I'll get more inspiration of what to create. I bet the mod communities ideas will be endless.

But since I want to practice the editing a little I was trying the basic template and messing around. But, I don't remember any tutorials that showed you how to load up your own level template. Is there a tool that you use to erase black area, or do I have to create a layer of sorts in a graphics program to do this?

General / Fantastically Amazing PC platform adventure
« on: December 20, 2008, 04:57:19 am »
I dont remember the last time I enjoyed a "PC" game like Aquaria, in it's genre of style. That says a lot. I normally would have ventured away from these games for the 3D rpgs & adventures. But, being an artist, art lover, and gamer, this game was just calling to me. I saw the trailer through STEAM in HD and immediatly wanted it.
The combination of great voice acting, music, hugely immersive fantasy world details, and bright colors, make my vision & listening senses want to experience it farther within. I have always had a thing for adventure style games. And I love the large variety in sea life and locations, and bet I have only seen a small part of it.

Cant wait to try some of my own modding too. I always could do the graphics part, but never had patience for the technical programming of games. This looks like an easier way to start.
