Title: Benefits of Nature Form
Post by: Hudson on February 20, 2008, 09:55:42 pm
Have most of you gotten much use out of this form?  What have you been able to do with it?

I don't mind specific spoilers...I just want to be sure I'm maximizing this form's attributes.

In my opinion, the best use of this form is that it's immune to any objects with spikes.  Also, there is a certain mini boss too that requires this form.

Well, it requires the form but makes very little use of it.  The best place to maximize the usefulness of Nature form is (at least that I've found) in these 2 situations.  #1: Areas with tight enclosed corridors where you can entice enemies to run into your spikes.  #2: Where there are enemies that like to follow you around, Sharks and those flying monstrosities in the Sunken City for instance.  There is also a trick where you can attach a spike to a rock and then bind it.  Then it's like a flail of death.

agreed with Glamador about the tight corridors. I've been able to use the briars to pretty good effect in wider areas in the kelp forest that have bulbs or open waters that have mushrooms too. it's useful when being bombarded with nautilus, they all will run into it and be quickly dispatched. you have to swim and be charged at the same time which requires a bit of co-ordination. I'm slowly getting the hang of using briars to access hard to get to areas in the veil and the temple as well. almost any area where you are in the air you can use briars to scale.  as it stands right now I don't like the briar/rock flail, you only have a few seconds where it works.  the briars also can affect some creatures that are impervious to energy attack.

You can also use it to jump extra high when out of the water.  Just fire the spike right under you and it launches you.

Personnaly, I used it a lot of time.

Firstly, you don't get any trouble by getting touched by plants or spikes, not that usefull but still.

And then, those Cacti (a cactus, two cacti) are really powerfull. Most ennemies dies after touching it two times. In the smalls area where the energy form projectiles are often losts, it is really usefull.

It can also provide protection when they are well placed.

I used those spikes to kill 2 out of the 3 minibosses in the ground floor of the cathedral, but they appear useless against the boss below the cathedral.

Actually once you get to the damage dealing phase of the Mithala boss fight (when his eyes pop and he goes nuts) I'm pretty sure any kind of attack will hurt him.  In fact it's a good idea to use them because you can "fire and forget" a nature form shot and focus on spamming the shield song hotkey to avoid his balls of death.

Actually, while I was trying out the spikes on that boss, it was >NOT< shooting at me as long as I was not using any other attack... neither did the laser eye mini-bosses in the cathedral. those were targeting the spikes themselves, so as long as they were in another direction, no laser beam was coming my way.

See?  More uses.  I just don't favor nature form myself because I'm out in open water for 80% of the game and Energy/Beast form are way better for open water combat.  In the few times when I find myself in a tunnel Nature form is fine, but it's one of my least used forms.
