Help! I'm Stuck! I love this game! The graphics are so lovingly don. I have reached pretty far in the game, I have the spirit, energy, nature, sun and fish forms. I have gotten all the life force and all the memories. I just can't figure out how to open the door in the abys or how to get into the sunken city. Please help! Oh! Did I mention that this game ROCKS!! I even love the music!

If you do, try right clicking on the door in the Abyss when he's with you. If not, look around the Veil for something out of place...

No I don't have Li. Something out of place eh... Ok I'm gonna have another look around. Thanks for the tips without spoilers!!! Will let you know if my observational skills are any good after hardly any rest due to loud Carnival music. :)

Answer could be: Beast/Fish form, sea turtles. And further, just go look for him, you can't go any further without Li, he is essential.
I wish there would've been some sort of thing in the sun temple that would need Li, though, so that you have to already find him there.

That's not what I said, and you can use the light giving jellyfish to go through there.
I'm just saying stuff though, nothing of all that is going to happen. It would just be nice that when there is something that's required, that you need to use it soon after you arrived in that area.
I'm just saying, To the Veil and back to the Abyss is a long way. =p

I didn't go to abyss until I got the sun form because I used the world map xP
crawling in the dark (it was a song, too... ^-^) was a pain...I read some player went to the abyss and the tongue to the body without sun form and that dude needed to find his way back again xD (crazy guy)
I think a warning msg would be enough?
like, You cannot see in the dark without light source! etc.

Well, she does kinda warn you about it the first time you go near the Abyss.
I had a little look around it anyway, figured that I wasn't doing it how I was supposed to, and went to the Kelp Forest instead ;)

But then you'd see the thing at the top of the Sun temple after you see Li, which is apparently the wrong order (though it's the way I saw it).
That's not what I said, and you can use the light giving jellyfish to go through there.
The Octopus Prime fight is *meant* to be too difficult without the sun form, hence spraying ink and creating darkness etc.

I can't understand how one is expected to not find Li before the memory. Li is in the veil BEFORE the temple. The memory is IN the temple. I call shenanigans!

But not everyone finds Li first, they'd be like: wtf, what is this, when they would find the memory before Li.

Glamador, yeah, 'twas something people were saying over at TIGS I think, but given Alec said they didn't really expect people to find all the memories on the first run I'm starting to question its veracity. Or whether I got it the wrong way round >.>
EDIT: Alphasoldier, I don't think it's an issue; it works to foreshadow Li's discovery if they haven't found him yet, and encourages the more curious to look for him.

I play with the KB/mouse, but I have been stuck in the game (here and elsewhere) because it did not occur to me to right-click on something. I spent a couple of days wandering around lost after I found this door. Then I revisited, happened to move the cursor over the door while swimming around, and saw the glowy effect on the cursor. Head-smacking time.

I've split the node into 2 and moved the activation part over to the right, so that it'll light up when you're near the door, which should help make it a bit more clear for gamepad users.

Well, that is your bad, because in the beginning of the game, in the little tutorial, you get shown that you can right-click on things if the cursor glows. ;)

I've entered inside a whale by learning a song, and I realize that I have to sing the same notes the squid does, yet the door will never open up. Even if I go to that one gate with the Wutang like sign shown on those cardboard boxes it won't open. I just don't know what to do, what do I do with those notes and how do I open that barrier to the pearl behind the squid?

Thanks. I've put about 15 hours into this game and I'm still very impressed with it. I mean I can't believe this was only made by 2 people. Anyway I hope that I've almost beat it, I'm going to explore some more and see what else I can find. :D

Alright I'm back people.
Anyway I feel as if I've done everything necessary and I just don't know what to do next.
Caution MASSIVE Spoilers!
Here's a map of everywhere I've explored.

As you can see I've been everywhere in the game, however when I go to the deep dark waters and go to the bottom right end I end up in 2 dead ends.
One is with a giant gold metal door, with the logo on these crates that the octopus is sitting on, on it.

Another place I go to (this is if I just go straight right) is one where I hear a voice saying that "You'll be mine forever my love!" (or something similar) that is really deep and I eventually find a giant rose with a stem full of thorns that I cannot go into.
I've pretty much done everything I could think of in the game except fight a wall climbing crab monster that I can't figure out how to beat but he looks like a "side boss" nothing primary (please tell me if he's needed).
So does anybody know what I should do next?

It looks like you missed an area in the Veil. Go back there and explore on the eastern side of the left bowl.
The other barrier you mentioned cannot be passed until sometime after you get past the door.
And yes, the boss in the Frozen Veil is optional. He gives you a health egg if you beat him, though.

For the golden door: Do you have someone with you besides your pets? If yes, click the door. It should work if you are not using a gamepad. If not, you have to finde someone in the veil.
To the octopus: You don't have to sing the notes that match the colours of his song, you have to make some things alite in this colours.

I just don't know what else to do. There is a little space that I can see in the Western veil above the save point but I can't get there even if I use the beast form.

Have you tried using Hot Soup or one of the advanced soups to inccrease your speed? That will also increase the height and distance you will boost out of the water. As for the area he refers to in the eastern side of that bowl, he's talking about the cave with the tent. You may notice a foreign presence around that area. Try chasing it.

I didn't know that it would increase my jumping ablitiy.
Also cave with tent?

I'm not sure what you mean there. There's a blue map token on the eastern side in the left bowl of the Veil. Near there is someone who can help you get past the door you found in the Abyss. Okay I've finally got to the final boss in the game but I can't figure out how to beat him.
I beat his first 3 forms but now I"m on to what I think is the last one (where you are fighting him in his giant form in some different dimension.
I shot his eye until it turns into some red looking knitting ball and I can't damage it anymore. After this point I just can't figure out what to do, I can't hurt him anywhere else.
Where do I neeed to attack next?

Not to sound hopeless but now that his eye is out I don't know what to do.
I did that super form song and went into naija's pink form and damaged him once but that's it I could only do it once. What do I do after I damaged him already in super form?

Well you have to find a way to charge yourself again. You might not have noticed it...but he is vulnerable in one spot just before he fires his mega-laser...but that timing is a B*TCH.

i must be silly or something. I defeathed the Worm boss in the Sun temple, and am trying to get to the 2nd memory. But there is no way i can get up there, its impossible!!
Do i need to adjust the water level somehow? I am clearly missing something obvious.... >:(

You must jump using the cogs as stepping stones. The timing is tricky. Also you may not have noticed, but you need to start jumping from the lower cogs in the room the left of the higher-up cogs. (Though this is not technically true, it is much harder to start from the right-most room)

I have found the cog, but when i turn it, the water lever drops even further. how can i make the water rise?

Not what I meant. There are spinning cogs in the upper rooms. The rooms WITHOUT water. You have to use the spinning cogs as platforms to jump higher.

you can use nature form briar jumping in the right side room to get onto the cogs but it's a bit finicky. otherwise jump from the left side cogs and just don't fall off once you get to the next room :) the don't fall off part is pretty important btw. without cracking the game open I don't think it has anything to do with water level up there

I actually just tried Briar platforming/rocketing to get to the memory from OUTside the temple. I sequence broke and tried to fight the Sun Temple worm before raising the water level...but I died...then it glitched out and I couldn't go anywhere without the water level being higher.

I found it easier to start from the right-most room since it's more forgiving. I just Briar jumped up the right wall, takes some practice but I think it would've taken me longer to get through both rooms without a mistake.

Yeah they should, I don't know untill how far, but I do know that when you are in dual form and when you spin, they go inwards and when they meet you change form.

It's somewhere in the abbys, where at the left end some golden/yellow block is in your way, and at the right end some flower-like thing is stuck in a passage that leads down to the next area
i would have postet a sscreenshot but dont know what button i have to press to make one :-[

I guess the "golden/yellow block" is the Gate/Door to the Sunken City. If you have Li with you and aren't playing with a gamepad, just click the door. If you don't know who Li is, check the Veil-area again and if you are playing with a gamepad, well, it is a known bug tha you can't open the Door with it. Alec is working on it, but until now, you have to switch to mouse/keyboard.

you make screenshots with pressing "Print Screen" on your keyboard and pasting the image into Paint, ctrl+v. No clue how to make screens ingame though, I thik you have a button for it.

Straight strategy:
First part you need to stay low so that the Golem only RUNS at you and not JUMPS at you, Beast form might be helpfull for evading him once he is running.
You need to eat the small buggers that comes out of the Golems head when the lady scratches or pokes or pets it or something, then you have to shoot the lady, with the thing you just ate, when you hit her the Golem gets vulnerable and you can attack him.
Once the lady starts shooting too (about 2 or 3 times of shooting the Golem while vulnerable), the Golem gets totally vulnerable, so you can just keep shooting at him.

Not sure if I'm in the right topic, but hopefully I'll get an answer :)...Namely, I can't solve the puzzle with the egg (health I suppose, like the previous) in Kelp forest... How sould I get past the obstacles? Dual form doesn't help; I tried everything previously, each form, but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

You want to get past the big thorny twines? That's not possible, you have to find a way around. Get a pearl through opening the red flowers with nature form, put it in the statue to the right and explore a bit. :)

I did, but still, there's a part of the map impossible to get to... I'm speaking about tiny passages, too narrow to pass through. But still, there's an egg inside one of those; in Kelp forest, to be preice, and no matter how much I try I cannot access it. :(

Oh, so you don't have the Fish form? Which transforms you to a tiny fish who can pass these passages? Search in the southwest Kelp Forest for the Fish Cave, where you get this form.

Hi everyone I'm Steph and I am ashamed to admit that I have been haunting your forum of and on for a couple of months now looking for help just so I can make her fight or work out how to use a charged shot to open the doors. :( I am just so dim :-[
I have been to the Song Cave and learnt the bind song and found a couple of treasures for her home cave but these few things seem beyond me and I feel like I have searched every stretch of wall and under every stone or boulder and I can't even find the map function :-[ Can someone give me a good hint for opening the smaller doors please and then I should be able to make a start on the other items, I hope?
The reason why I haven't joined before; well I am already a member of 3 other forums and I have one of my own so I tried to just do the legwork here instead but it didn't work even with my many searches :'(

And that will work on the pearls Aquagirl, only the curser doesn't glow when it's over them? Still I will try it later tonight thank you, anything is better than running away all the time :D

How can you get past the big fish that guard little passageways or lairs in the kelp forest? They were referred to as wolffish in a thread 6 months ago, but no direct answer was given.
I have energy, fish, sprit, sun, nature, and beast form, and I also have Li.

Well I gave in and read the walkthrough for the first part and now I see that I had the right idea in the Energy temple, it seems that I just need to get my timing right there and then I can open those doors, thank you for your help. I admit it I am very stuborn and try to work my way through things independantly :-[

If you swim to him from above you can swim in the cave between him and the wall, no need to get him out first. :)

I haven't yet noticed the solution to my problem. I'm in Mithalas and I can't figure the way to open the way on from the throne room. I tried sitting on the thrones and checked the whole area for clues, but found nothing.
I have energy, fish and nature forms so far, but I have a feeling that that's quite few - I've been to the Kelp forest, Home and Open waters. Did I miss anything there?

There is a coin somewhere before the throne room (deep down in some cave). You need it for the throne and then you can sit on it.

yeah you should bind the coin that is on the most down of the mithalas place , the
one with all the zombie frog piple , that is near the one that goes straight down
but is blocked by a current , the one to the right ....
anywayz , there is a coin in the end of it - bind it and bring it to the middle throne ...

now I managed to get cleared the energy temple, and basically everything around the girl's home.
Now there is a passage to the right, but I 'd need a white ball to put it into the thingie at the door. I am speaking about the passage above the giant-turtle passage.
Could you tell me where can I find that egg? I am clueless now ..

I'm stuck! :( I get through all first three endboss versions ok even the simon says version is no problem but the forth version is just killing me both literally and mentally. I just can't find it's weak spot and I am firing like mad at the rear of his protruding eye after finding that his chest area is invulnerable, so where is his vulnerable spot? :(
I even got behind him at one point but that was no help either :(

To make it short: blind his eye, rub it out, shoot with Dual-Li in the Belly, charge Dual-Naija with the three Nautilus and the finish him with her scream.

Ok these are the forms that I have faught so far, the self proclaimed god on his throne, the one that looks a little like a badly malformed lobster and song form, now I am faced with one large boss standing in a place that looks like it's out of time and space with one red metal eye standing proud and one almost normal one and here I am stuck. I have tried shooting the metal eye, behind the metal eye and binding it but so far to no effect?
I only know to do this because I searched and found this..
Final Boss Form 5:
Shoot his braincase at the top left of his head and reveal his eye. Shoot the muscle off of the eye until it dulls and becomes invulnerable, then remove the eye with the bind spell. Next go down to his stomach and use the dual form Li to shoot his mouth for a second (then get out of the way of the laser.) After a while enemies will spawn. Kill them and absorb their power. When Li is charged up turn into dual form Naija and make an energy blast near the stomach. Repeat this 4-5 times while avoiding giant colorful balls of death and stuff. Enjoy the ending.

I guessed that you meant light and of course it worked but I just got killed again, still back to the fray tomorrow if I have the time? It's art group in the afternoon and we are going out painting, and well I will go along if the weather isn't as heavy as it's been today the extra high heat and humidity has had me hanging on to my inhaler all day :(
If it's bad again I will be able to try that last battle again :D

Hey all, so I'm pretty near the end and the forums have helped a lot when I've been stuck. But now I'm in a deep stump.
I've managed to save li from the bubble after finding all four spirits, I have dual form now. So I decided to go downward and found some sort of growth spawning enemies.
I'm more interested to find out WHAT it is. I'm going to try to use the dual form and supposedly "scream" it away, but other than that I have no idea how to get rid of it or even what it is lol
Any vague hints for me? I'd prefer to figure out *most* of what to do on my own, but a vague hint would help.

That! is the creature that you need to blast with the scream And it's the start of the gauntlet, perhaps it's best if you make sure that you have explored everywhere before you take on the gauntlet.... It's the beginning of the end so you really need to know how to use dual form first and have explored the rest of Aquaria...

The entity name for it in the editor is simply "gateway." And you're right, you simply "scream it away" to get rid of it. As for whether you should yet, that depends on whether you're prepared to face the aforementioned gauntlet. Basically, it's nothing but a world of hurt beyond that gateway: a lot of enemies, with no save point until the end, just before the final boss. I'd say if you've maxed out your health meter, and have the jellyfish costume and a few healing food items (but save the rare ones for the final boss!), you can probably beat the gauntlet. And there's a transport turtle near the final save point, so if you're worried about completion, you can use it and not have to fight your way through the lower abyss and the body again. So if you feel you can beat the gauntlet, I'd say go for it, even if you don't feel ready for the final boss.

I went for it saved at the crystal, then used the turtle so that I could restock before facing the final boss, and I think that was the best way for me as I needed to get my breath back, but others might like to keep the adrenalin running?

Can anyone help me with the Sun temple worm - can't find the place to sit and shoot without being sucked in, can't shoot him down when he is stuck on the spikes, I shot at it for five minutes and nothing happened until I moved then I was hit hard. I have jumped out and into the veil without killing this boss but not sure if I have to kill him to get the sun form? If the sun form is elsewhere then can I leave this boss alone and move on? I am aware that I need the sun form to attempt the abyss. This is the most fantastic game ever and I love it. :(

I can't be 100% sure but I think that you do need to kill him to get it? spoiler := He is a tricky customer but so far I have managed to kill him first time each time I played the game so far..... Well except for accidently jumping out the ceiling of course :-[ ;D I just use a soup, a crab cake and an energy food and swim around like crazy blasting him but others swop from nature form to energy form to do it because the big spikey things can protect you while you are also immune to the coral in that form. Just use the 2 and 4 keys to swop between them.
And if I can do it anyone can :D

The trick that I used on the Sun Worm was using Beast Form to jump up on one of the spiky ledges on the ceiling, switching to Nature Form in midair, and then switching to Energy once you're clinging to the ledge. If you switch to Energy after you're clinging on, you shouldn't take damage. Be ready to switch back to Nature pretty quick, though, cause you will occasionally bounce up and take damage when you fall back. Have some healing items ready. But once you're latched on, you can pretty much just spam energy form shots down into the water. It helps if you have Li, too.

It sounds like you must be from my age group SL, I needed my son to solve the Simon Says boss for me, he is better at memorising notes than I am lol I'm glad that you found Natures talent yourself :D But why don't you try practising swimming her around and firing at the same time outside the temple?

Don't they like to make you look foolish soft lol I was quite pleased when it took my son quite a few tries to beat the SimpleSimon boss, it did go to prove that he is no pushover :D

It's nice to have a forum that will provide you with hints where needed. A walkthrough is so straightforward in telling you where to go and what to do. We people know how to use subtlety to nudge our Aquaria playing brethren in the right direction. Although I will admit I used a map to find all the treasures I missed.

I cant find the spirit form? I have been up to the top right of the Mithalas city, across to the right with beast and apart from another save option there doesnt seem to be anything else I can do there? The big jellyfish with the red spot is there too but I am not sure if it is a boss or just a watching jelly fish. I cant go through the abyss without spirit form because the geysers block all my other forms.

You need Nature form before you can get the Spirit form as you need to pass those hot vents and that can only be done from the other side. Use beast form and explore further in Mythlas city, you will find a way through to the Spirit temple from there.

I have been through the tunnel at the top right against the current but there isnt a way through ? I also dont understand why I need nature as I assumed that I would only be able to get through hot vents if I had the spirit form? Or am I missing something obvious?

Ok instead of looking for the most obvious exit try looking inside all the open buildings, one will have one of those big plants that you aim your seeds at, and a very useful pot just inside.

Yeah, I was bumping against the walls of the Arnassi Ruins when I SPOILERS found a passage leading to the secret turtle, who then led me to the SImon Says Boss (Man that was annoying!)
EDIT: I'll post screenshots (thanks for the ctrl + alt + p tip) of my impossible quest (there will be lots of red-rimmed pictures) ;)

You guys win: I failed miserably :D I took one look at the first angler fish, then ran away, my tail between my legs. ;) I came back with the sun form and found the Abyss strangely relaxing. There aren't as many enemies as one would think

Soft, it is hard until you learn the secret of holding the right button down after the last energy input, a quick spin and then release the right botton to release the killing scream. So you hold down right and left keys and press 'r' quickly then release all keys where you will do the most damage.
I decided to catch the turtle back to home waters where I could practise this move before going along that last corridor, simply because nothing else gets you past those weird creatures.

That's a wierd strategy. Hard to move and aim? No harder than beast or nature form. Swim to safe distance while charging shot, turn towards enemy, release. Almost all enemies die in a single blow, even those super nautilus's.

That form was Mother Nature and unless we know what forms you already have we can't make a guess about which one you need to find next?
If you don't know what the forms are called just describe what her present forms look like the colours etc. though I am pretty sure that you do have the black dressed Energy form or you couldn't even get to Mother Nature. :D

If you havn't gotten that yet, head back to open waters (the main area from which you accessed the Kelp Forest) and head directly RIGHT. You will find Mithalas City, it's rather unmistakable there's broken pod buildings everywhere.
And if by some chance you're already IN Mithalas City head to the cathedral on the far right of that.
And if you're already THERE we're gonna need specifics before we can assist further.

How can you have the spirit/fog form without having beast form?
Deep down in the cathedral of Mithalas (the broken city) is the next form you need, called Beast Form. This'll help you to swim against the currents and then you can go straight up... to the surface!

He doesn't mean the spirit form. I suspect english isn't his first language the way he types. He's talking about beast form because you killed Mithalas with a poisoned FROG. Notice he says he's blind, you blow up Mithala's eyes if you remember.
As I said before gunslinger, you need to go UP using your new "fog" form. Which you really should call beast form.

Glamador means you to go to the city ruins just before the cathedral and work your way up there also, and once you have these two forms then you will be able to fully explore another temple higher up. :D

Where's the light usually? Up! And northeast! When you go up, make sure that you follow anything that doesn't look like a fish and to explore every opening. ;) Good luck!

In the sun temple you must use another move (R) that Naija has and use it near a cog, then you will need to get a crystal to the sunlight by careful use of the cogs.
Once you are up at the top you need to fight another boss to get the next form that is needed to help you light your way in the abyss, and it's a good idea to do some wall jumping also :D

The dark spot, it it top left? Only that is just what it seems to be as far as I know and I've done a lot of jumping there to try for a hiden secret? The key you are looking for is again in the dark but bottom left someplace so you need to beat the sun temple boss I'm afraid especially as you need the sun form to open the door down there, unless you have a good ear for notes?
Also another piece of advice, keep going up even after you have beaten the boss, it's well worth it

and it seems that there is no way out for mithala chathedral 1.
I went in, i did a save (i overwrote my last save so i am totally screwed at the moment).
So I think you can't go out from my position.. unless you could go through the red "vein" walls!
could you help me?

Have you tried every exit, because there is bound to be one that you can get through? I also found myself stuck at one point and then I found that there was one exit that I had missed and that I didn't even need beast form to get out :) I believe that it's just inside the argest room that houses one of the multi eyed laser bosses Xaigan?

I saved at the savepoint, at the red stuff. Every exit is blocked, or there is a flow in the opposite direction so I can't swim through it.

From what I can see, there is nothing blocking you freelander. From the save point swim as far up as you can (taking the left path on every fork) then as far left as you can - there should be an exit to one of the laser bosses there.

but the exit from the room of the left laser boss is blocked by the red wall thingie.

Are you sure? I definitely see a one-way current going away from the miniboss room. Wait a second... have you defeated the laser blob yet? My suspicion is that the fleshy barrier disappears once you defeat the ugly bastard. Good luck anyway. :)

I went through the sequence with the ghost boy in the Sunken City, got him to where he's sitting in front of a small door / barrier to the right side of a room, and there are 6 notes on the wall in the center of the room. I've tried singing these notes fast, slow, backwards, everything I can think of... went in to ghost form and looked. Randomly charged and "shined" with sun form, called Li over and over (though he's right there), planted stuff all over everything, tried to eat him...
What am I doing wrong here? What am I missing?

The child's mother sang a song that is repeated many times in the soundtrack of Aquaria - sing the combination of the notes on the wall that the woman sings (and remember, there is a pattern). Good luck! ;)
I actually solved it by trying different music I had heard in-game, and halfway into one riff, the door opened. ::)

I am stuck in the abyss. It seems like there is three ways to continue next. One with a gate and a "symbol I recognise" (character quote), one with some steams coming up from vulcanes and not able to pass (seen those quite a few areas, but this one got an entrace or exit at the end) and one with some giant purple dildo blocking (unsure what it is, but it's huge and firm and blocking the entire way). What do I do. Don't give answers, give hints :) .
I also met this funny diver creature, and trapped it and she said "let's take the helmet off" (or something along those lines) but she didn't do anything with it, so I left after trying to find clues in the cave. This is Li, right?

The diver is indeed Li, and which spell is useful for picking up things? ;) You were so close! As for the steam barriers, you need to travel back to the northeastern most section of Mithalas City (not the Cathedral), travel back into Mithalas through one of the blue bulbs (nature form tunnels), and beat the boss there. Once you pass the familiar door (with Li's help) you'll find a way to remove the tongue (purple "dildo") from the entrance. Good luck! :)

You really must get the spirit for chokie because you must of missed a lot of items that you really need, try going around to the left and up in Mythala city and look for another passage there with a strong current coming from it. Just swim thouh and thoroughly explore every quarter and building in it ;D

Arf. Stupid three spirits eating me litterly alive. The fact that you have to stop to sing (or, you can't move with ASWD is kind of sucky) allows them to chew through me. I am so lost on this, consuming food and whatnot but nothing seems to help. So far I am up to switching between shield and energy form mostly, but they are never solid at the same time, so someone is always shooting fireballs or eating me.
Makes Shinja sad.
Also, I did know of those, or well. I had entered the room long time ago, but just bumped into one of the ghosts and then left, never hit the exact spot to trigger fight.

Stuck in Sunken City... Led the kid to a tree with the sun form, and now he won't move. I got energy, beast, nature, spirit, fish and sun form. Every loose ends leads to this blocked passage with the song which makes the 7 symbol. I know the pattern how to play it since I heard the lady sing it. It's doesn't open the door, it doens't make the girl or the boy or the woman or the 3 weird boys waving their arms with a evil laughter in the back move.
A little help would be appreciated. Thank. :)

But never mind that bit, first you need to make use of nature form to bring the ghost of a little girl to the boy, and it's no good singing those notes (the mother's tune) until you have the boy with you. hint hint ;D

I've gotten through most of the home waters, there's only one place I haven't been yet. In the energy caves, after defeating the energy God, there is a chamber in the upper levels with an empty statue, and I'm fresh out of pearls. How do I open this door?

Um... thank you, but I'm not finding anything. I used two pearls to open the double doors down to the energy God (the monster with the cracked pearl that sanps at you, and you have to use the pearl to open an energy beam on his nose). There isn't anything useful down here, and not much space to the left to explore.
Another question: What is that huge red bulb thing at the end of this section? Does it do anything?

OK... Suprise!
Stuck again, after having a massive brainstorm at the hp-eggboss or what it was I have now made my way to this aweful statuecreature with panzerarmor and a priest of some kind floating around. I have litterly been trying to aim the purple thingys on her, but I have yet to hit and wonder if that's actually the solution..
I also found a whale which marked a whale on the map, but couldn't do anythign with it so guess I'll leave that on hold, the boss is troublesome!

Whoa... slow down a little - I barely understood a word you said. :) My guess is that you just finished the lobster boss and you've made it to the Sunken City and you're fighting the Golem (statuecreature). You have to dodge the Golem until the woman makes him spawn the pink jellyfish, then eat the jellyfish and shoot at the woman. Once you hit the woman, the Golem becomes vulnerable, and you can fire at him with energy form shots. Repeat several times, then fire like mad once the loud music appears and the Golem turns red.
DIRE SPOILERS
There's a puzzle in the whale - inside the whale are different colored lamps you can light up with the sun-form's charged shot. An octopus in the back of the whale (near its unmentionables) sings the correct sequence of colors. Light the lamps in that order, and a pearl will appear. Go to the center of the left section of the Abyss and use the pearl to open a door there. The door leads to a hidden memory and a save crystal. Before you do so, however, bump against the walls outside of the whale - there's a hole in the walls that leads to an easter egg.

Stuck in Sunken City... Led the kid to a tree with the sun form, and now he won't move. I got energy, beast, nature, spirit, fish and sun form. Every loose ends leads to this blocked passage with the song which makes the 7 symbol. I know the pattern how to play it since I heard the lady sing it. It's doesn't open the door, it doens't make the girl or the boy or the woman or the 3 weird boys waving their arms with a evil laughter in the back move.
A little help would be appreciated. Thank. :)
don't feel too bad, i came in here to ask the EXACT same question. i figured out the song, but the song didnt do anything. i used the nature form to get her to stand up, but didnt figure out that you could make a path of flowers to the boy, until reading here.

As for the whale, there's a small alcove somewhere in the open waters with a mouth (an unimportant enemy is sitting in the mouth, by the way) that you need the sun form to see past.
you can use fish form after taking out the enemy to get into the dark alcove, but using far-look (middle mouse button) works as well

I assume you have the bind spell (a.k.a. bind song, gravity song, "pulling") and therefore have the energy (or fire) form. I spent a long time where you are in the demo - you need to look around the periphery of Home Waters (not Naija's home) to the east for a pearl. Like in the energy temple, you need to bind the pearl and bring it to a receptacle that will open a door to where you need to go (in this case, one or two tunnels up). That will give immediately give you access to approximately half the maps of Aquaria - the rest are unlocked with new skills and forms. Good luck! :)

I found the passage with the flags, and do I go through there, or just stay in the first section, or do I go to the second statue (which I have also found) or does it not matter where I go?

Just explore. There is no wrong path, and if there is you'll be turned back by something.
Good description - adding on to it, it's best to explore the Open Waters clockwise if you don't want to do a lot of backtracking. (Make sure you explore each area thoroughly, or you might still have to go back and forth).

The exploration is the best part of the game, and there is always the mini map or if you click on it the larger map ;D

That's a shame - getting lost is a major part of playing Aquaria, but there are steps you can do to make the event less frequent. First, explore everywhere you haven't been, and check back in grey areas when Naija attains new forms or spells. For example, a small chamber in Mithalas blocked by currents (possible spoiler, so don't search name), and a straight shaft leading to the Energy Temple blocked by a rock. Also, explore methodically (in one direction, entering every nook and cranny you encounter) and stay away from areas that are obviously near-impossible (they'll be facilitated later). :)

Of course. One way to alleviate that would be to go through a difficult area while spamming the shield-song shortcut. It blocks every projectile, and is incredibly useful in the bullet hell of the lower Open Waters sections (but the Abyss is underneath, so I wouldn't recommend continuing downwards until you're ready_. :)

I back track a lot, perhaps because I love the travel as well as arriving there, I will even swim the distance instead of using the Turtles, just as I did tonight :D
I didn't bother going to visit Simon Says the first time so tonight I went there to make sure that I hadn't missed anything and sang 6 notes before he yelled at me :( I do wish that I could get past 6 notes and beat him myself sometime :(

You can transfer saves from the demo to the full version - in fact, there's a tool for doing that that pops up during the installation. :)

*Spoilers?* But I can't go anywhere in Mithalas? And I didn't buy it? I can only go into the chambers of the prince and such, but the upper level is blocked by steam and the lower level by currents. I have no way to go anywhere. I can't go to the frog cave thing (the ones that hop around and can be purple and poison you) in the Kelp Forest and there's no way I'd survive in the Abyss without the proper form for it and anything else is blocked by currents.
Edit: Okay, maybe I can go farther. I just figured it out although now I've got to beat the silly Mithalas boss. >.<

There's a blue crystal in the upper right, you can use Bind Song on it to drag its floaty pedestal around (on the water surface only though).

Do you remember the red flower underneath a thin current close to the entrance / exit of the Energy temple? You'll obtain a form that allows you to open such flowers and retrieve pearls inside. That's quite a bit later in the game, so don't worry about missing anything yet.

The little baby is Dumbo I believe
The only strategy I know:
Stay above him every time you're not attacking him.
Calm down.
Make things bright when it gets dark.
Kill the little squid.
When things are calm jump in front of his mouth.
Then immediately jump a bit back so that you won't get grabbed by the tentacle.
Shoot at the... thing in his mouth.
Keep repeating the jump and shooting until he spews ink.
Go back up again, cling to the wall, change to sun form again and lighten the place again.
Then repeat the stuff again.
When you get hit by the little squid, go back up above the octopus and kill the thing, and lighten the place if the place gets inked by the octopus.
So, tk'dr, stay above the octopus, keep the place lightened, kill the small octopus each time, jump in front of the mouth/beak of the octopus, jump back immediately and shoot, then repeat.

You actually never have to go to the whale... It's optional and only needed in order to get the third memory...
To get into the sunken city, you need Li... then right click on the door (the right clicking was what got me)

Just keep chasing him in sun form until you reach a bunch of dark, twisting passages. He lurks around in one of them - find him, sun flash so you can see, then switch to energy form and try to shoot him in the eye. He'll run off, and the chase begins again.
Eventually he'll run to the door.

it is tricky to hit her but keep trying and use the soup to keep you moving, duck when he charges and fly up when he jumps.:)

What really helps is eating the two jellyfish in the tunnels from which you retrieve the clay. Because it only takes three shots to make the Golem completely vulnerable (berserk mode), the trick quickens the monster's demise. :)

But be sure you lose the rest of your hits, because I believe, when you eat something, it goes to the end of your waiting list of shots, and that list has a limit, seeing I've had this before. Only bouncy hits, nothing after that.
And the two small jellyfish are I believe Zygotes, but I don't think anyone knows what a Zygote is.

You attack the mother with the things you eat as beast with indeed right mouse button, after that, the golem gets vulnerable, so, attack with energy form or so from there.
After a certain amount of damaging the golem you can keep attacking him, you'll figure it out when the mother starts shooting at you.

The place where you are now is not needed to complete to game, but it is where you will find a memory.
The green jellyfish indeed sings a melody, which you need to repeat by using the sun form on the small lamps, there are 4 small lamps inside the whale, and 1 small lamp with the jelly, you can ignore the one with the jelly. To make that melody with the sun form you have to charge your sun form's power and lit up the lamps in the correct order.
The two fish staring in the white spheres represent the creators or this game, Derek and Alec, it's what they call an Easter egg.

You need to plant a thorn and wait for the crab to walk onto it. When the octopus attached to the crab's butt (excuse me) touches the thorn, the crab will jump up out of the water. Repeat until the crab dies. Good luck! :)

You notice the bombs the mantis shoots? The round (red?) bomb things, you need to bind one, place it in the middle, shoot the mantis down so the bomb explodes when he's in the bubble.

There were four symbols just before the Golem (hefty stone giant with hammers for hands) - you need to sing those notes to free Li. I actually did it by fooling around with patterns I had already heard / sung before in the game, but that's obviously not the ideal method. :)

Heh, the first time I actually freed Li, I sang the song slightly by mistake, I can't even remember why or how I did it. Later on, in my second play through, I figured out the that Dual form song is the first four notes of the Anima song. The song you keep hearing everywhere in Aquaria, also sung by the mother and sung by you when opening the door to the golem boss.
Edit: I later of course also figured that the 4 spirits I had freed were the colours of that song.
This was I believe after the 4th play through seeing I'm colour-blind. XD

You know that when you roll, you switch to a second form in dual form, right?
Either way, kill 3 things in Li's form, then charge and attack the barrier thingy in Naija's form.

The best way is to go and explore Aquaria a bit more before you attempt that creature, and practice using dual form if you are having problems with it. But one hint, hold in the power :D

Hey Guys,
I've explored just about everything possible, and having wracked my brain jumping through bubbles, grabbing secret pets, armor, etc. I find the only place to head now from here in the giant purple tongue in the abyss, and the golden door.
Having browsed the forums I understand I need to get li to open the door, but I cant, for the life of me, find this jerk. Been through the whole veil, gotten sun temple cleared out, jumped out of the stupid bubble, killed the octopus and so on. If anyone could point me in the direction of where to find this guy I'd appreciate it. I'm not looking for some vague "check out the veil" comments, need some actual directions because I've been all over the place.

Hmmm, I must be missing something blatant or somehow bugged out his spawn. I've extensively checked the area immediately to the left of the temple and the far left area of the veil. Currently parked in the octopus cave poking around in there, these 20 minute sweeps of the zone are getting pretty old -_-

The circle with the arrows is where he spawns when you start the map, the pointer to the right is into his cave, where he will eventually flee when you get close enough there ONCE you find him, he might have already gone there.
Of course, seeing you haven't found him, he could slip away to the question marks and end up somewhere else, have you tried using the middle mouse button while swimming to look around? Maybe he's ahead of your every step.
I hope you find him.

And to get there from the sun temple, start from the right side of the temple and go down, then head left until that map Alpha posted loads (fade to black, load map, fade in), and then swim up.

Jesus Christ - you seem to have some personal grudge against Aquaria. Have you never played a puzzle game before? Most puzzles are surprisingly easy if you pay close attention to anything out of place, draw connections between those observations and problems, and - like Silverflagon said - hunt [the heck out of] every nook and cranny. :) Also, have you noticed how beautiful "the same rocks, tent, sunken submarine, and assorted fish" are?

You get a cutscene once you're close enough; until then I believe he just swims back and forth in that particular spot in the Veil.

OK, I have
shield/bind/energy form and a nautilus pet and that's it.
I have destroyed the Nautilus (in home water), the "fish-lion" boss and also the "energy" boss where you need to imitate his song and dodge his attacks...
I have explored the verse cave/secret cave passage/energy temple and song cave, at least all I could of these.
Also found one turtle in the home waters...
And I am stuck...
'have no idea what to do next...
I have also translated a few enigmatic sentences like "krel will pay...", "Flesh is w..." and I have found a 4 tones- song....
Please give me a hint as to where to go next - please.....

Big spoilers but here they go:
#1 Energy form: shoot at the head until the eye is exposed.
#2 Sun form: create a light (charged up attack in sun form) and aim it at his eye, it will temporary become vulnerable.
#3 Energy form: shoot at the eye until it changes color and permanently invulnerable, if the light wares off before this happens, use sun form to create an other light, repeat until done.
#4 Song form (normal form): use bind song on the eye and remove it. Now Li will be freed.
#5 Dual form Li: shoot at the head inside his belly area when it is exposed, beware of the big laser. When done right, he will release 3 creatures. absorb their life essence.
#6 Dual form Najia: scream to hurt the big guy. #5 and #6 till you screamed 3 times.

Hello, just wondering if there's any suggestions/strategies for getting through "the gauntlet" in the Body, as I've seen it being called (the long twisty tunnel before the final boss)... Is the best way simply to stay in dual form and kill everything? I've tried a number of times but the amount of enemies and the spinning fireball-shooters overwhelm me before I get even halfway through. :-\
I'd appreciate any advice; I'm hating the Body... It's very frightening.
But the rest of the game is wonderful, of course. <3 Glad I bought it.

The trick with dual form is to scream.
Kill 3 things using dual-form-Li to charge up the shout (you will hear a soft scream sound to indicate you are charged up), press R to change to dual-form-Naija then move in the middle of a large group of tough to kill enemies, and scream. Now all those enemies will all shatter.
The enemies are more or less placed such that a small bunch of relatively easy enemies alternate a more difficult pack, so it will go a lot easier once you get the hang of it. This will get rid of enemies much faster than energy shooting them to death.
Those fireball shooting smiley sun thingies require 2 screams each to kill. Its is easier to just avoid being hit and ignore them.
Also, they are a great source of health! If you use spirit form, you can absorb 5 missiles for 1 HP of health. If you hit spirit form at the right moment, just after they shoot a new set of fire balls, you can absorb almost all of them in one move. In addition to healing you, the absorbed fire balls will also be gone and not hit you anymore.
The jelly armor will heal you if you are below 50% health, but only in song form. (normal form) The horrors (crab like beings that hang from the ceiling) can be dealt with by using song form and shield, then position yourself such that their projectiles get bounced back to them. Its somewhat slow, but requires little effort, just keep shield up, and it allows the jelly armor to do its thing at the same time.

I'll give it another go :) I was using the scream but a lot of the time it was hard for me to shoot the blue nautilus's (nautili?) while dodging them in Li-form, since they come at you pretty quickly.
One thing I didn't ever quite get is absorbing shots while in spirit form... Do you just pass through enemy shots to absorb them? I faintly remember trying that once and losing health in result (I might be mistaken, though), and since then I haven't really attempted it.
I'd like to find this out since it sounds pretty useful. ;D
For the crab-things, I actually found it easy enough just to stay in Li-form and shoot them while swimming in a circle to avoid their shots. But your suggestion sounds good too. I'll see which one is better for me.

About absorbing shots: you have to right-click close to the projectile, but you'll take damage if you touch it. :)

Once you have charged up a scream, you no longer need to hit anything, so you can focus all your attention to swimming and avoiding being hit. It's fairly easy to just swim around and gather a group of enemies around you, herding them together, then scream and shatter them all at once.
It may also be a good idea to ignore some of the easy enemies, such as the mutileye, so you can drop back and charge up on them later, if you need to.

Hello everyone~! I'm having trouble earning the beast form in Mithalas. I've just used the lift song to bring a third round stone to the prince's chamber, but I don't know exactly what that accomplished or where to go from here. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have travelled all waters (from grey to white everywhere), find a lot of things/secret areas (2 are missing...needing this damned white ball), have the 8 forms, only 3 pets...and I don't know how to finish the game...
I'm reading here about a Li guy in the Veil...is it possible to miss him ? (the map is so white everywhere, don't want to travel once again all waters ^^)
Somewhere I remember I have discovered a ship...having the same look/symbols as the abyss yellow door...is there a link ?

You can't miss/skip Li, afaik, or you will not get Dual Form.
And Li is wearing aqualung and floating in the waters of Veil. When he encounters with Naja he escapiing from her, you need to follow him.

It is possible you somehow missed him, but the first time you get close to him, the game does a short slo-mo effect, just like when you first crossed the veil. So if you explored everywhere, then missing him is a kind of hard to do. Also, if you don't have him yet, the map will point his location out with a red circle.
You can not possibly have 8 forms without Li though. In fact, you can not enter the sunken city without him, and thus not get past the tongue into the body, where you will eventually encounter the end boss.
Unless you are playing the bugged old version, then you should update to the last patch. (1.1.1)

Use all of your forms. Sun form to make the eye vulnerable. Energy form to shoot until it becomes dull, bind song to remove it. Then smash the glass in his belly with it to free Li and re-enable dual form. Wait for the belly head to expose itself, shoot at it until he releases some extra creatures, use the to charge up a scream, then scream to hurt the boss.
Repeat and scream 3 times to kill him.

Is there any tips to get finish with Simon Says. I am to stupid, or to slow to get it correct. Even when I write it down, the time runs out (and yes, I pause the game).
Why, oh why, can't use use the numberpad for notes? It's like a perfect setup.
I've done that boss before, but my save got lost somehow, maybe cause of inactivity..
Would also be ver yhappy if a kind person could use my save and do it, and resave.

The only tip I can give you is that if you hold down the control key, the song tones will remain visible, you can then move your mouse cursor without having to hold down the mouse key. This helped me.
As for your saved game question. I'm willing to do it.
Though I'm using the Mac version, and I do not know if the saved games are compatible between versions (I see no reason why not, but for some reason they aren't in some other games I've played)

The thing is. In games, even with puzzles. I dislike challanges that is purely based on luck and no logic sensee at all. And heck, when I can't convert it to strings of numbers, that's more annoying.

There's no luck involved in Simon Says, only speed.
Although now it was a while ago, so I don't remember but: can't you sing the notes even as Simon gives them? Meaning no need to write them down.

Excuse me, but Simon Says also has a lot of luck in there, it's completely random. The first time I did it I had the luck that I had the first 4 the same note and the next 4 notes to be in a counter-clockwise direction right after each other, just like that!
So yes, luck is involved, but it's also skills.

OK, It worked, I did it in 6 minutes, and several tries. (I'm not all that good at Simon either) Though a portion of those 6 minutes was spend swimming to and from the save point, so it wasn't as bad as it sounds.

Luck is involved in that some of the randomly generated strings of tones are easier to remember than others I guess.
Still, it is true that the game Simon basically just tests your short term memory. If you haven't trained it, then you'll have a hard time.
If you haven't trained your leg muscles, you'll have a hard time winning a race too.

This must've been asked already, but I can't find the answer. How do I kill that crab in Frozen Veil? I figured you can draw and hold the projetiles it shoots, and they blow up after some time, but what should I do with them? Spent about twelve minutes there (thanks to Jelly costume, that wasn't a problem), but haven't figured that out.

You're supposed to drag the bombs next to him after you shot him down with an ubervine (charged nature shot).

First I'd like to thank all of you who are helping cause I did many mistakes at the start of the game (I had nature form, but not beast one, went to The Abyss without going through Veil before ... xD) ... So thanks ! ^^
But here I need your help once again, because I can't find the answer by researching in : it is about Li, and well ... results with "li" are really a lot of course, but not the guy. ^^

I have 3 pets, all forms until the spirit one, explored all what I can explore in The Abyss, and 2 of the memories (god I hate climbing, I suck at it !) ...
I know I have to go to the door she said she knows, and I also know I need Li's help.
My problem is that I just can't understand how to meet him !
Let me explain : I went through the Veil, saw him & tried to follow him cause I'm a curious girl, went to his cave, explored it. And then ? I know I'm probably missing something obvious but I just can't find where he's supposed to be so I can interact with him !
So if someone could help me to get thus guy it would be great. :p

If you followed Li as he swam into his cave, he should've been in the cave... I suggest trying to find him again out in the Veil.

I'm now at final boss, and I have a problem with him. :( I read the topic about boss strategies but I'm at the final form of the boss, too the eye out, so there is that big mouth attacking with a huge laser. I know I have to kill ennemis which will spawn but ... they spawn only one time, and my pet killed one of them so I didn't kill enough foes to charge Li. :/ And now, I'm waiting again & again, shooting the mouth, and no new ennemis appear.
Any idea of what I can do to avoid this ?

Uhm, first, get another pet that doesn't attack the enemies, second, you know you have to attack the belly JUST before it shoots, right?
If you just use a charged energy shot from the combo or just from Naija when it opens, you should get new enemies.

I'm in the Sun Temple and I've just done the puzzle with the blue crystal, but when I take it down to the dark area at the bottom, there's some sort of door that I can't get past. I thought it was one of those pearls that you shoot in energy form but that didn't seem to do anything? What am I missing? I think I skipped a Kelp area or something, is that important?
Also I just met Li, and Naija said something about being able to explore further with him? As far as I can tell all he's brought to the table so far is a fancy wristwatch that shoots things. What does he actually do? (Gameplay wise I mean, I know he's probably important to the plot in some way)

He lasted quite some time for me because his poison kept hitting me so I had to keep switching back to my singing form to regenerate health. I'm a failure at dodging. And then I remembered the aforementioned spirit form trick. And after switching into spirit, I accidentally went too fast and bumped into one and since I wasn't regenerating I died. xD (eep it's a run on D:)
Amusing how that happened AGAIN for me during his 5th form, when I had forgotten about that trick and I was trying to dodge his giant colorful balls of doom and accidentally hit 7 again. xD

Man, that Metroid (Jelly) costume is handy. I think I spent 75% of the game at <= 50% health. Sure didn't use much in the way of consumables though.

The Jelly costume really makes the game easier, and having beaten the game before I got it using it kinda makes me feel like I'm cheating when I'm playing with (although the present tense is a formality; I haven't played Aquaria in half a year).
That, and it looks weird.

A good way to dodge the poison balls of form 2 is to swim along the wall, away from him. After the last one hits the wall, reverse course and shoot. The same trick works in the final Battle Cosmic, dodge toward him, and the energy balls impact his body.
Also in that battle, you can shoot the blue face with energy form while sitting above where the big beam appears, much safer. And as you can keep a stream of shots in flight, you do not need to get the timing right.

Interesting how the form with the creepiest origin/use provides peace of mind, while the form representing two people joined in Love resonates destruction (which, provided more destruction isn't hurling your way as it so often is, provides peace of mind).

Interesting how the form with the creepiest origin/use provides peace of mind, while the form representing two people joined in Love resonates destruction (which, provided more destruction isn't hurling your way as it so often is, provides peace of mind).
But everything offers destruction followed by peace of mind!
Basic Form: Destruction of braincells; peace of mind with shield.
Energy: Destruction through energy shots; peace of mind with no enemies.
Beast: Destruction of poor, innocent animals; peace of mind of getting their ammo.
Plant: Destruction with death pillar of plant; peace of mind of quick transportation.
Sun: Darkness; being able to see.
Fishy: Your size; being able to squeeze through stuff.
Spirit: Bullets, bullet-free-ness and a break in action.
Dual: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE; no enemies.
Li Song: Loneliness; company.
Shield: Vulnerability; protection.
The Verse: Being frustrated with not being able to play it; finally figuring it out.
Race Song: Boredom; a break from the action present in the rest of the game.
Whale Song: The abyss; nom nom nom.

Hah, nice table. I guess you do have a point in that each form has it's negative and positive connotations.
However, it's pretty ironic that Dual Form (as in, the power of love) is the most powerful destructive tool in the game, while Spirit Form (which could be metaphorized as the power of loneliness, or of the individual) provides a break and temporary safety from danger, and even the possibility to heal. Perhaps this symbolizes that the emotions concerning Love are often chaotic and hard to control, while when one is alone they are more stable and clear thinking, and spirit form really gives one a breather from the constant chaos (if you can get past the eeriness of it... which I certainly have).
What can I say... I'm alone a lot, I'm "together" a lot. Social interaction is good, but I also treasure my "alone time", which is usually just walking home for a couple of miles and listening to my music.

Hi,
I tried the game and have a big problem, I can't open any song plants.
I sing a note the same colour as the bulb and the bulb quivers but it won't burst. I don't know what I do wrong...
I have the demo of the Game and use an EeePC.

I think you have to hold the note for a second or so before the bulb breaks. It's sort of like how people break glass in movies (and real life?). First there's that ringing and shaking and then it shatters a few moments later. :3

I don't think you make something wrong. You have to sing the note with the same color as the plant. If it's not working you may have encountered a bug. Try all the other colors, maybe one of them will work...

In that movie it looks like you are clicking sing over and over. What you need to do is just hold the button down.

He is considered by many to be the hardest boss in the game. What I do:
Some sequences are easier than others, like those with notes right beside each other. If its not an easy sequence, abort it (fail on purpose) and start again.
You can start repeating the notes before he is done. If you sneak in the first 2 notes, then stop to watch what he adds, you only need do the last 6 in the short time remaining.
Try it several times, then stop and go do something else with your time, something not Aquaria. Sleep on it. Then next day it will be easier.
He is not required to complete the game. The reward is a permanent third cooking slot. So you can just ignore him.

you need li for the creator because if you are on a mod and put the creator first form he wont do anything so thats why you need li

it have been useful a walkthrough or a hint system instead of hundreds of pages on a forum
but, anyway, I love this game even it's so frustrating sometimes
