How is it with commenting in this topic? Is it for presentation purpose only and should be free of non-sprite posts or will you put all sprites in your first post and the rest is for discussing, praising and stuff?
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on January 31, 2008, 12:12:31 am
The topic is all about about the sprite mods, posting sprite mods, feedback, praising, discussing, pretty much as long as it has to do with sprites and putting them in as mods, or maybe requesting sprites for a certain mod, it just has to be about a mod or a sprite. xD
The first post WILL contain every Sprite Mod if they will be posted in this topic, I'll try to keep it updated as good as possible.
So feel free to post your own sprite mods or to request any.

Here is my pirate naija.  Some details are maybe hard to see when not zoomed, she does not blink and the eyepatch switch sides.  I will probably make multiple heads and a node to make her blink and make the eyepatch change side someday, but I'm quite busy right now.  So here is the skin for naija as it is right now, use it in any way you want  ;) .

 pirate_skin_mod.zip (http://www.willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=14200)

All comments are welcome, constructive criticism included.

Btw, nice skin Alphasoldier, but a helmet would be really nice (edit: oops, I forgot zero-suit has no helmet  :P).  If you want to remove the cape and change the head, just use the node in my mod (replacing my textures by yours in node_capehead.lua of course)
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on January 31, 2008, 07:14:27 pm
Helmet for what exactly? And yeah, I need to remove the cape, I'll do that when I feel like it and when I get deeper into scripting, or when someone orders me to. =p

And hopefully I'm going to work on a power suit one day, and a head of Samus, don't know if I'll ever get the skills/time/inspiration to do so though.

Also, Mod added to top.

Man am I lovin' the Zero Suit mod.  I'm cursed with having no artistic talent so I'm forced to oggle what others make.  Thanks for making something oggle-able.  Nude Naija is cute too....kinda chubby tho.  As for nude Li.....well, too much sausage for me, and not enough cowbell.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on January 31, 2008, 08:20:56 pm
I'd say you can always try, Glamador, start with small simple things, the only hard word with the zero suit was pulling the lines, the rest was simple colouring and shading some.

About nude Naija, I DID make a VERY slender one, but that went over the line. Letting her be more then a sex object then just a cute person.

Also, cowbell?

Anyway, if you want to see a new suit of Naija, feel free to request anything. ^-^ Or any other sprite in that case, I always love to work

Hey, since you're so good, you should make a 'Doom guy' one!
I was gonna work on a doom mod, but I'm really not so talented at makeing stuff, only editing... so if you want something to do... ;)

Here are some pictures you can use as referance.. The top one is sprites from the game, the bottom one is the box. The box one is more detailed, but he has a rip on his right knee and a rip across his abbs. Good luck.  ^-^

The pirate one is very cool too! Awesome work! :)
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on January 31, 2008, 11:00:46 pm
Heh, I could try making the doom guy using Li's figure as background, but I really really suck at helmets and heads. =p

EDIT:
Also, what am I getting for it? xP

EDIT2:
Or where is it going to be used, you actually going to make a Doom mod, or is it just awesome to have a doom dude?
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on February 01, 2008, 01:00:40 pm
Well, I wanted to make a doom mod. I have pictures of the maps to use as templates for the mod, and already tried out making the first level. I just need to figure out how to simulate ledges best, since what used to be a top-down map of 3D is now going to be side-on 2D. Ideas I've had were along the lines of using very small, but powerful currents in a line of the ledge, so you can only go one way. And I'd need to make enemies and sprite them, which is all hard work and I don't know anything about making entities or scripting...
Really, I'd need someone else to make it all (like you! :D), and I can supply ideas and basic maps. Which is sort of a selfish way to look at moding I know. XD

Um, and I guess the only thing you'd get out of it would be a cool looking space marine Naija. Lol. That is, unless someone else helped out and made more of the mod. I heard some people wanting to make a 'shmup' mod, which this would sorta be. But I'd never be able to make it all by my self.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on February 01, 2008, 01:59:03 pm
So all you're doing is throwing the idea plus some maps in the middle and hope someone will help you? Ha ha, funny.

If you seriously want to make a Doom mod and want help with it, contact people who are willing to help, like me. Then make a group and split the work through people, if you can't find enough people for the work, postpone it or learn to script yourself.

I also want to make a Metroid mod some day, It's why I made Zero Suit Naija in the first place, making small steps is a good thing, next thing I want to do is make a Metroid entity and script it, and it's movement. Then I'll see further until I finally made my mod.

Anyway, all I'm saying is, ask more people for help (take private contact), start a project (explain what to make, how to make, etc... )and hope the mod will turn out right. (change things if you're unsatisfied.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on February 01, 2008, 11:37:27 pm
Haha, yeah, but that's me. I'm lazy. When ever something begins to look like work it goes on my in-built list of things to procrastinate against. XD
Oh, and if I get other people to work with me then I'd be expected to keep up...and when I have to do stuff it becomes work....

Maybe I should just learn to script and draw well. ;)
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on February 02, 2008, 12:50:29 am
Yeah, but like I said, I'd love to help. If you want to seriously make a mod, contact people and ask if they could help you.

This being something everyone can do.

Post by: Aƫrendyll on March 13, 2008, 12:05:53 pm
I might check out the PG nudes of Naija and Lee, I'd love to make some costumes for them and removing their clothes is too much hassle with these sprite mods around. By the way, are the graphic files of the nudes included? Because that's the reason why I'd want to download these mods.

I myself will not make any mods, I'm afraid. I'm no good at scripting and far too busy to be able to finish one. I will, however, try to make some sprite mods. For fun or by request doesn't really matter to me.

Right now I have a few ideas on costumes for Naija: Rikku (Final Fantasy X), Shiva (inspired by FF, but I would need a script to attach the cape from Naija to her waist instead of her neck :P) , Space suit Naija, Ninja Naija, Bathsuit Naija (so no bikini ;)) and maybe spy Naija? For Li I also have some ideas too, like space suit Li, Pirate Li, etc. I'm sure not all of these will be finished, but I'd love to hear if people have requests.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Alphasoldier on March 13, 2008, 05:11:43 pm
Hah, pretty much the main thing why I included a PG version, So that people can use them to make other costumes. Further about the cape, I have no idea how to do it myself. And no, I wouldn't have any requests. Hiro in earlier posts did ask for a Doom Sprite. Something I haven't even started to work on seeing I... well, it may sound arrogant, but I only wanna work on somethign that definitly will be used. >..>
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on March 14, 2008, 05:12:54 am
Lol, thats fair. :D
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Glamador on March 15, 2008, 05:04:14 am
Well the idea of it being used is kind of set back by the mod being confined to one area of play...now if you could extend it to the main game (like add costumes or something) I'd use all of these mods all the time.  I like to change my look alot in games.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on March 15, 2008, 11:29:37 pm
Lol, playing the original game as doom-naija would be so weird!  ^-^

But I agree, it would be cool to be able to do that sort of thing.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Zude on March 16, 2008, 04:18:06 am
Umm...

How do I use these mods?

Sorry to ask such a simple question, but I'm kind of lost when it comes to the modding thing.

I added installation note on main page, even though it's kind of obvious when you go to your Aquaria directory. =p

Can anyone provide me with Li's sprites? The unedited, not-naked version, that is.  :P
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on July 01, 2008, 08:40:08 am
Hmm, I'm sorry that no one else answered this question (I would have, but I don't have an answer).

If you look on the wiki then it might be possible to find the tileset that has Li on it. If not then the naked one would have to do...

So how do I play the game using the mod sprites?  Installing as directed will get you stuck in one room.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Xiagan on July 25, 2008, 11:13:12 am
It's atm not possible, sorry.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on July 26, 2008, 10:54:38 am
Eheh.. yeah...

The modding system as it is right now is not an addon/modification system for the main game. It is an expansion creator. So....Something like a sprite mod at the moment is kinda just a preview of what it is possible to make Naija look like. ;)

Hopefully sometime it will become possible to edit the main game, but not yet.

Sorry, this is a little out of context, but responding to somebody's post about not wanting Naija to become a sex object (THANK YOU!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)
Title: Re: Sprite Mods

Indeed. It'd be nice to have an inspirational character rather than a turn on character for once in the internets...

But why? Naija's just so,... so.. so cute! She's so HOT! I mean look at those webbed feet and green skin! And how could you resist that silver hair at such a young age?? Oh my! *faint!* :P

Title: Re: Sprite Mods
Post by: Hiro on November 29, 2008, 10:33:34 am
Well you should be able to do as it says in the first post:
"Installation: Just extract the folder + .xml file in your _mods folder of Aquaria."

I'm not sure exactly where that folder will be for you, but I imagin that its in the main Aquaria folder like it is for us. You'll just need to find where you installed Aquaria, then find the _mods folder and put the downloads in there.

Hope that helps. :)

Very much apologies for this, a long while ago the sire where I hosted these files got a makeover, I fixed some links I had up but not these.
They should now be working.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that the pirate sprite of EntiteFred do not seem to work as he has been away for a long time.
I don't think I still have those files, if someone still wants it I'll look around if I still have his sprites somewhere.

haha, thanks

and what do you think about making young/adult ruto and common zora sprites from zelda ocarina of time?
it would be cool since they are fish people too, if you like the idea i have some nice pics that can be used as models

That sounds very interesting and actually fun to do.
However... I'm not sure if they'll ever be used and I'm bad at making heads. 8D

None the less if you have some good model pics for it I'd love to try.

anywhere to get the metroid one?
also is there anywhere to find one(just her first/default form) based on this concept? http://www.bit-blot.com/images/concepts/rimu-sprite.png or any other early versions?

edit- found the samus one elsewhere.

edit-
heres one I edited trying to make mermaid(can only attach 4 so just use the head and limbs from the human mod already existing and credit them(and change the cape red its close enough to hair, I have hair but..))
edit- er, nevermind won't let me attach. fuck it.
Title: Re: Sprite Mods

Make your own? For the latter you can try scaling down  and chopping up the limbs (urgh). In any case, I don't remember the character sprites being very high resolution, so if you do it right you won't notice loss of details or anything.

(Reminds me about the time when I made my Minecraft skin. Took a stone golem (similar to the one you see in my avatar, except is in sprite form) scaled it down in GIMP, copy and pasted bits, then edited a lot of pixels. Shouldn't be too different here.)
Title: Re: Sprite Mods

made this awhile ago, drew less than you'd think(so can't really take credit), modifying existing game art mostly(and one piece of concept art for the hands).

if you've ever read "Pact"  this is my naija version of Greeneyes(cannibalistic bogeyman mermaid ...but shes nicer than that sounds.)
http://orig05.deviantart.net/3aea/f/2015/143/0/0/greeneyesnaija_by_fletchindr-d8udd4t.png
http://www.deviantart.com/download/534741437/greeneyesnaija_by_fletchindr-d8udd4t.zip?token=484f51df64ae626a974b94f89258ea3834c8796f&ts=1437070331 (http://www.deviantart.com/download/534741437/greeneyesnaija_by_fletchindr-d8udd4t.zip?token=484f51df64ae626a974b94f89258ea3834c8796f&ts=1437070331)

should work as either a naija costume or beastform. unfortunately beastform apparently can't have the long hair.     (still need to turn one of the pets into Evan or something.  maybe dumbo?  also li needs to be made of wood.  but this might be better off alone anyway so haven't bothered.)
