Kind of crazy, indie games seem to be getting selected for nomination in the GDCAs this year.

We're up there for one too, alongside indies flOw and Everyday Shooter, as well as mainstream titles Crackdown and The Witcher.

"Best Debut Game
The Best Debut Game Award recognizes the game from any development studio which released its first publicly available title in the year 2007.

    * Crackdown (Realtime Worlds)
    * flOw (ThatGameCompany)
    * The Witcher (CD Projekt)
    * Everyday Shooter (Queasy Games)
    * Aquaria (Bit Blot)"

Sadly I think you guys are going to lose,  even if you deserve it. Crackdown and Everyday Shooter have gotten far more positive exposure.

I'm not even sure what "Best Debut" means, but it feels like we have as good a chance as any in that category.

Yeah, wow, what an honor!  Definitely did not see that one coming. :o

Win or lose, it's pretty sweet to be nominated.  And also to see Jon and Jenova in there with us.

(It'd be even sweeter to win, of course, hehe...)

Anything we can do to help you people win? Like post there or something?

Hmm, the Witcher along side with Aquaria. It's my good day, although if I would had to vote, I would vote for Aquaria  :)

I think you should win obviously, if only for the amount you have achieved with just 2 people.

I think it depends what "Best Debut" means.

Does it mean most (positive) publicity? In that case, why are any indies nominated. Surely there must be some other mainstream debuts with tons more marketing, publicity, sales than we have.

So I'm assuming that the quality of the game also factors into the equation to some degree.

But either way, its pretty cool to be nominated.

It could mean relative to those things, or just... most meaningful impact.  I'd say that the releases of a lot of the indie games this year were more meaningful than even some of the biggest named mainstream games, because of what they mean for where the industry is headed.

Or it could mean which game to come out of nowhere to surprise people positively. O0

I feel like Aquaria has some good chances. I feel like Aquaria is still turning heads.   Crackdown, flOw, The Witcher and Everyday Shooter are all strong but most of them have been released in early and mid 2007 and don't feel like they've surprised the industry as much as Aquaria. But it's a personal opinion  that may be biased somehow :)

Voters are fellow devs from every layer of the industry. There are so many fatcors involved, it's hard to predict a winner.

In all cases, I feel like choosing one title from all those games is one tough dilemma.  I'm not officialy voting tho. But the fact that the game was nominated is great :)
