Hi
I bought aquaria a few weeks ago and I have been playing non-stop, but with all the fun in this game, one part of it blows. I can't pass the singing challenge set by the octopus in the kelp forest. no matter what I do, memorize, put on pause and write down, the guy gives me absolutely no time to repeat. even when I get it right it roars and I have to start over. I guess my hands are not fast enough either.
Is there anyway to pass this? any hints, tricks, codes, or even octopus killing harpoon is appreciated
thanks

Wrong forum?
Um, well, getting one of the grand-kids to do it might work. (Worked for me.)

even when I get it right it roars and I have to start over.
^That is NOT possible, lol. It only roars when you did the wrong thing.
Anyway, the only hint I can give is keep trying and keep trying, if that will not work. Then oh well, it's not a required thing.
You only get another cooking slot from him.
Or another idea would be letting someone else finish him for you.
AKA, send someone your savegame to do it for you.

LOL. It's a pretty simple task. Do this and it will work 100%. Position yourself above him a bit (above his top-most-middle "eye" thing). Right click his ass so he starts singing. Keep your song "chart" open and move mouse on the note he sings (that corresponds with his "eye"). To perform it successfully, do this: let him sing, THEN when he finishes, you sing - you got like 2-3 seconds before he barks at you. You'll see it's pretty easy to do ;)

I dispute this, you can be totally correct in the sequence but slow on the execution. after awhile this was my only fault. like Sunbeam mentioned below you keep the song sequence open, that helped immensely. also position your mousepad if necessary so you are not singing off it, and anticipate if a song sequence will turn you into the beast, hehe that's so funny :'(
on a different thread I mentioned what worked for the memorization, to repeat the tones as 1, 2, 3, 4 etc at the pitch they are. you memorize the pattern into your short term memory and then all you have to work on is matching exactly 'Simon's' speed. you 'only' get the pan, but I found it pretty helpful cooking anywhere on the fly, not dependent on a kitchen and this skill will come in pretty handy later on. consider this a good spot to get good at it without the pressure of dying and stuff ;)

Well, it's not NEEDED, but it's handy. You could just go to Mithalas or your home.
Anyway, like I said before in another topic, I'm tonedeaf, I look at the 8 things the creature has and further it's just singing.
Aaaand, the thing that follows you with a name of only two letters is annoying as you get together an stuff, also that it zooms in while I'm trying to look.
-
There are about 3 threads with tips how to solve this, try the forum search with "simon says". :)
It was the most annoying thing in the game, imho, I needed ages!
-
Just keep trying, you'll get better eventually, or you will just get luck that you get a easy sequence, it's how I did it.
Once I had only 2 notes and further they kept switching.
Just keep trying untill you get it easy.

I just don't understand why this "boss" is so difficult. I'm usually GREAT at Simon!

This is like, saying that you don't understand why Alphasoldier can't see red and green, because you see these colours perfectly...
-
No no no you misunderstand me. I had tremendous difficulty as well. I can't understand why this Simon boss is so much harder than normal Simon.
-
Ah, okay. Sorry. ;)
-
Normal simon sez games do most of the time not have a timer, they do have huge buttons, this thing has small ones, it also has sound, this one has too, and most Simon sez games have only 4 colours. =p
Gee I wonder how this could be tougher.
-
Ah I guess that 4 colors thing is true. I had forgotten that about Simon.
