Title: Wall jumping....
Post by: sundak on January 11, 2008, 01:46:03 am
Is there a trick to this in the Sun Temple....because I can't get it.  I have made it all the way to the left most tunnel with the water as far up as I can get it.  If I open the map and look...it doesn't appear to be that far but when I start jumping, I just can't make that last bit.   So I am presuming that I have to jump the rest of the way up which I just can't coordinate.

So I left the Sun Temple and have gone and figured out more of the game and I now have dual form and I tried it with that and I'm still hopeless.  From reading the forums, I need that memory at the top of the Sun Temple to make the ending awesome...

Anyone have any suggestions or maybe a way I could go around from the outside of the Sun Temple?  Help?

Once you get going, stick the mouse at the top of the screen near the middle.  For best results, it only takes a little bit of side-to-side motion on your part.  For the most foolproof, I believe you can actually keep the cursor at the top middle and not even move it and still make it up.  Just don't stop clicking.

The trick to jumping at all is to realize that you will always jump towards your cursor and with that you can tell exactly where you will jump to next.

I know that I may be shunned for this, but instead of destroying your mouse it is easy enough to use the spacebar for boost.. I managed to get to the top of a very tall passageway (in air) by using plant form, moving the mouse from the left side of the screen to the right rapidly and pushing spacebar each time I threw the mouse from side to side. Then whenever I landed somewhere I knew I wouldn't fall from I threw a seed down and grew a plant to fall on as a sort of safety net.  (PLEASE DON'T HATE ME FOR MY KEYBOARD USAGE!  :'()

Why would we hate you for keyboard usage?  It's just like everybody else does just you press a different button.

Only thing I did was aim up and button smash the jump button. As long as your mouse isn't behind Naija, she will always jump. But I only play with mouse, so I don't know how to do it with the keyboard. I guess press up and button smash the jump button.

Poor little mouse. Why slash it :D? Joking ;) For me it was even simpler. Click, click, click, adjust position of pointer, click, click, visualize trajectory in my head, click, click..

While we're on this extended discussion about jumping, I've noticed that (at least in V1.03) after laying down one of the charged up plants grabbing onto it near the bottom and then jumping off of it in the direction it's pointing I get launched in that direction. I mean seriously LAUNCHED! Perhaps a bug? Though it seems quite natural, and I have observed most of the sky by using this method.

Yeah, that's the preferred method of jumping by some people. ;)
