Top fifteen for me.
1. Naija's Secret Cave/Light (in particular I like the piano notes at the end of the track)
2. Open Waters/Openwaters #?
3. Fall of Mithalas (epic, it really brings out the tragedy in the cutscene it accompanies)
4. Home Waters/Openwaters #?
5. Kelp Forest/Arboreal
6. Mithalas/Remains
7. Belly of the Whale/Gullet
8. Title Screen
9. Miniboss (although I like the tune, I'm not really sure if it fits all that well with the rest of Aquaria's music. The only boss I think it works perfectly for is the Nautilus Prime, because the fight is fast, kinetic, and basically constantly in motion, like the track)
10. The Veil
11. The Body
12. Creator Second Form/Worship2
13. Sun Temple
14. Nature God
15. The Abyss
-
My top 15 would be;
1.Abyss
2.Worship1
3.(Creepy ambience in the Sunken City)
4.Mithala
5.Sunken
6.Veil
7.Suntemple
8.Sunworm
9.Openwaters1
10.Openwaters2
11.Thebody
12.FallofMithala
13.Mithalaanger
14.Worship3
15.Worship4

Don't know the names of the tracks, but the credit music with Jenna singing is clearly the best :)
I believe Alec's brother(?) helped with the Miniboss music, which would explain why it differs in style from other tracks.
-
I should punch myself for not being a person that minds the music alot. I think I would play different without music, and that I would miss music if I'd play without it a while, but I'll just never be like: OMG THIS OST ROCKS. That's just not me, never been. Maybe I should get more into music from games. Seeing Aquaria has one of the most beautifull tracks.
-
I love that music, dunno what the track is called, after you get the dual form and you swim down, Naija says she will follow this to the end, and then that mission impossible like music comes, that is so kick ass. :)
-
The Body?
-
I think he's talking about Fallen breed, which I agree, it's quite an awesome track.

Well, there's a lot of mediocre muzak game music out there, the stance is fair enough.

That one is called "Lost to the waves"
My personal favourites are Sunken, followed by worship 1 and 5.
-
Abyss, without a doubt. I can have that sucker play on loop for hours.
-
is there a way to extract the music from the game? how did yall get the music tracks?
-
I like the Mithalas city music the most, also the song cave. Some of my other favorites are the ones from the kelp forest, the veil, and the open waters songs.

There's a jukebox mod that lets you listen to all the songs in the game (kinda like a soundtest mode):

My favorite is Lost to the waves when I listen to the music in the jukebox mode, but somehow, FallenBreed is the one I prefer while playing through the game. When I play FallenBreed with the jukebox, it just seem ok, but when I hear it in the main game, it just fits perfectly with the dialogs and the part of the body where it plays. Just hearing the music at the start of this last section was enough to make me think "Oh shit, this part will be hard".

I can't really decide on a particular 1 through X order, so take these as occupying the same slot.
Openwaters2? (First area after Home Waters, I love singing the lil' tune near the end of the song where it begins to start its loop again... With Naija of course.)
Light (First section, great way to start off Aquaria. ;) )
Worship5 (C'mon, 'tis epic. )
TheBody (Spiffy song for a spiffy area.)
Mithalas (The city section anyway. Really seems grandeur and somber at the same time.)
Lost to the waves (Is nice, a tad bit short but it gets the job done.)
'Course, all the music is masterfully done. But those are the ones that stick out the most in my mind.

Hooray for the Jukebox mod!
My favourites:
- Arboreal
- Light
- Open Waters (1)
- Remains
- Sunken City
- The End
-
Remains and Openwaters (1 and 2) FTW! :)
-
great post!
1.Mithalas (of course)
2.home waters
3.racetrack
thats what I can remember.. long time since played...

I once had "Remains" playing in the background for an entire evening, while browsing the internet and doing other online business. I like it that much. I even learned to play along with it in the game. Tried following note-for-note and harmonizing.
-
I enjoy pretty much the entire Aquaria soundtrack, but the track that most sticks out in my mind is The Veil. With the flute lead, it greatly resembles some of the soundtrack from the anime Haibane Renmei, which is incredibly emotional and well-written, and the theme for The Veil evokes similar feelings in me.

Seconded. I love Aquarioke. ;) (Although I'm no good at it myself.)

;D
You do realize I meant Naija, right? I can't carry a tune in a bucket, myself. The concept of karaoke frightens me stiff.

Yes, we know. :) But still, a video would be nice.

Actually, I am hoping that I can get an MP3 of "Lost to the Waves" sometime, and share it with a few friends. Those friends (particularly female ones) often can be seduced into playing a game solely on the basis of that game having soulful music, and I think that "Lost to the Waves" would pull the right heartstrings to get them into this.

I want to touch that one up a bit before releasing it.

I FINALLY FINALLY bought the game and beat it yesterday.
As the video game music maniac that I am, I (of course!) have an opinion to contribute to this thread O0
1. Sun Temple
2. Arboreal
3. Sea Horse (or whatever, that racing track stuff)
4. Open Waters #1
5. Inevitable (My heart nearly stopped when that boss appeared, the music played and he approached.... *shivers* You know which one I'm talking about)
Yeah, that's it for now :)
-
From my point of view, it's nearly impossible to say the best music track, or list them. They are all beautiful, of course, and part of certain scene. I like how the tracks are very "many-sided", and how some themes begins slowly, like Remains and Abyss, before the Main part.
I couldn't help but listen that "Lost to the waves" - track you were praising... and yes, it was beautiful as well. Sad, perhaps, but i liked the familiar themes. It might be far better experience to listen it when you have actually completed the Game and you're reading credits and stuff, but... hail, jukebox-mod :)!
- maybe this was quite pointless post, but never mind. I just like to praise the music of this game ;)

I haven't heard all of the tunes yet but so far I love the tune from the Veil, from the Sea Nymphs cave and from the Seahorse caves also. I am trying to find Dual form now so I might change my mind yet :D
