Anybody know where it goes or is it pointless? I have been searching for a long time and getting frustrated.
-
I'd love to help, but I have no idea what you're talking about.
Do you mean the statue you can knock the head off of? I think that's just for fun.
-
Ya, its in between the ruins and open water. You can bind his head but i dont know what to do with it.
-
Ugh, I spent ages trying to figure out what to do with that and you're telling me it's a red herring!? I hate that >:(
-
I too found it disappointing - I was really excited thinking I had discovered the key to an easter egg. After puzzling over it for half an hour I realized that the cat was just a cat. :)
-
What cat?
We're talking about a head.
-
It's a figure of speech - it means that although something could be special, sometimes, it's no more than what you see.
BTW; just realized that the phrase was first coined by Sigmund Freud - his words were "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."
-
Actually, I think it does serve a purpose: (MASSIVE SPOILERS) as a hint on how to defeat the final boss.
-
Welllllllllllll, I didn't even notice this.
Fail :(
-
Robert might be on to something there actually, never thought of that.
Also, Chibi, it's strange, cause deep in the files of Aquaria there IS in fact a cat. However, I don't think I've seen it ingame.

Probably just a passing idea for the game that never got implemented?
Yes I found that ead and swam around with it for a while but I thought that it was just a little piece of amusement or whimsy lol
You could use it the same way that you use the rocks though ;D
-
Man - that hint went right over my head. Good thinking, Robert! :)
[EDIT]: It would be neat if the eye could be dragged between maps - Alec could create an achievement like the Half-Life 2 garden gnome one (here (http://www.pentadact.com/index.php/2007-10-15-gnome-quest))
-
That was good but like the person said, totally insane lol
-
I'm tempted to do that myself now.
-
What carry that gnome around :o
Or use that head as a projectile? lol
-
It does have a sort of mad attraction either way ... O_)+(_O [Completely frivolous smiley lol ;) ]

Hmm, I don't remember the statue, but then again, I rarely thought to use bind. (Which made Mithala a bit...challenging, by the way! :P ) I'll have to keep my eyes peeled this time. I do remember a ghost cat being somewhere in the ruins toward the end of the game. Is there a non-ghost cat, too?
Also, \o/ for the HL2 gnome. I still haven't done that quest, but kudos to Valve for putting it in there.

I haven't seen a ghost cat any place ? :o
Oh and the statue is not in any of the ruins areas, think more central than that and going down ;D
-
I've seen the ghost cat - it gave me a double-take the first time. :) I think it was part of a cutscene / flashback that would reveal more about Eric's (the Creator's) childhood.
Here's a picture of the cat's head:

BTW, the best part of 1.1.1. is the gfx folder. Having all of Derek's artwork in full size is just ... :)
-
:o The statue isn't where all those eyeball-wizard-squid things are, is it? They totally destroyed me a couple times. Or maybe it was the pink projectile guys in the same area...
Yeah, I love the gfx and script folders. And looking at the cat's script, there does appear to be cutscene stuff, some of which requires beast form. I guess I was in beast form at the time, so I didn't think much of it, but that's kinda cool. ...I just looked for other beast form interactions, and there are several of them! The canceled interaction with the transport turtles has been mentioned before, but the clams and a big blue guy called "bigmouth" also lets you interact with them when you're in beast form. Man, there's so much hidden stuff in this game! ;D
-
Did you see the unreleased 8th form of the Creator? It is creepy as hell - it's a jawed worm with screaming heads as segments and a hooked tail. :o
-
:o Sounds pretty creepy...I thought I remembered seeing another creator form that wasn't in the game when 1.1.1 first came out, but now I can't find it. Or was it somewhere in the forums? (I couldn't find it with a couple quick searches.)
-
I believe it was the same one - I mentioned it in the forum post in which we praised the gfx folder. :)

Wait, wait, I know there's a cat in the GFX folder, but would anyone be so kindly to actually show (screen) the cat ingame?

How about a hint of where to look for it Chibi? I can't believe that I have played this game 3 times and never spotted it :o
-
I think he's bluffing, unless it's seen in the intro... which I will test now... Nope there isn't. I don't recall having it seen anywhere. I think it's just something that has been taken out of the game. I guess only Alec or Derek can answer this, unless someone has a screen shot.
-
I can't check at the moment, but the script made it look like it was involved with the rock/clay collection section [spoiler]right before the mom&pop boss. There was also something in there about the creator/Eric getting "walloped", if I remember correctly.[spoiler]
Also, Chibi, where exactly is the unused creator art? I didn't see anything that looked like it, so I fear Steam "updated" it away to make the download smaller or something. I really should nag Plimus about a 1.1.1 update for my old copy. :)

I'm not bluffing - it's in the gfx folder under the heading "cc_cat" - I said the cutscene "would reveal more about Eric's (the Creator's) childhood." Would, if they had kept it in. Pure speculation.

In the Steam version, it'll be in Program Files, Steam, Steamapps, username, Aquaria, then gfx.

Well, apparently I was bluffing. I checked out the cat's and some other scripts, as well as the map files, and I think the only thing that would have created the cat is commented out. Methinks I've been reading scripts too much...they're starting to merge with the game. :oIn the Steam version, it'll be in Program Files, Steam, Steamapps, username, Aquaria, then gfx.
Hmm...I still can't seem to find it. What are the names of the files?
-
I don't have the Steam version, but that is where all my other steam games are...
[EDIT]: It might be under "common" instead of "[username]." Gumboy Adventures, World of Goo, and Sam & Max are all there.
-
Yeah, pretty much all of the non-Valve games are in "common", but I can't seem to find the 8th form pictures in that huge repository of art. I might be scrolling right past it or it might be garbled in the program I'm using (which doesn't handle transparencies well), so I was wondering what the images' file names were so I could go directly to them. Sorry to keep pestering you about it.
-
The form picture is under the heading "Creator" then "Form 3" Form 3 looks fairly similar to the current third form.
-
So no ghost cat then, shame :(
-
At least not in the game.
p.s. - 1000
-
:o :o :o :o :o ...
*Epic Facepalm*
I was so busy looking for the 8th form that I forgot to look in those folders. Thanks! :D And yes, that would have been creepy, and it kind of reminds me of the final boss in Rise of the Triad.
P.S.: +1000 for an "Uncomment Mod"
-
What do you mean, "uncomment mod"?
-
If someone rewrote the commented-out code for things like the cat and did some additional writing to properly include them in the game, it could be interesting. Or perhaps not. It depends on what's still hidden in there.
-
That would be an interesting idea ... it would be pretty difficult to implement - remember, the scripts are half-finished and probably have a few bugs.
