I seem to be stuck.
I've gotten Sun Form. But now I'm trying to reach the top of the sun temple. But I can't figure out how to raise the water more.
I've gotten that jewel thing up to where those metal bug things (which are invincible) go into a tube.
There's a path up, but the water stops part way. I can only seem to either get the water to that point, or lower. I can't figure out how to get it higher so I can go all the way to the top.
Help please.

You can wall jump when out of water.

Er... but I can't seem to find a way to the top.
And plus, what's the crystal for then, if you can't take it with you?

Wait, where are you in the sun temple? Have you gone through the dark area, yet?

Yeah, I got the Sun Form, and I've done all I can seem to.
To get up, I have to wall jump, then jump along all those cogs and such.
That seems to be something beyond my skill.

Just persevere with it for a bit. It takes a wee while to get the knack of jumping from cog to cog but once you figure out the best route you should manage OK.
I guess you could also try using nature form's spiked plant to boost you up to the higher levels of cogs (since the hardest bit of jumping is actually near the bottom of the cogs in my opinion. However it might be a bit tricky to boost yourself in the right direction.
Oh yeah and while I remember to mention it, I always found it easier to wall jump and so on in normal form if possible. I odn't know if it was a psychological thing but Naija seems to grip to the wall for a fraction of a second more in normal form than in, say, beast form, and give an extra half second or so of reaction time. But like I said that might have just been psychological, all I can say for sure is I fucked up wall jumping a lot less in normal form!

Hmm...well, the cog jumping got me for a while especially near the bottom. But I discovered that if you use beast form to make a long jump from the little alchove near the top (if you approach the room from the left) then you can jump directly to some of the higher cogs and it is much easier from there.

you can also "cheat" by using nature form to plant cactus-things, which you can stick to, on the walls, so you can jump-plant-land your way to the top. This does require a bit of timing, though.

Yeah, I was messing about with the cactus thing (is it just me, or is it disturbingly phallic?)... anyway, I kept having the problem of struggling to make it to that second section (through the little path at the top)... and I'd always mess up with a jump in just the right angle to shoot me down that stupid hole in the ground. :(

Yea I've had that happen to me plenty of times. But like I said, in that alcove just before the "second section" as you call it, if you jump as horizontally as you can then you can make it to the top level of gears right off the bat. If you can't make it then try Beast form, it jumps further.

Everyone is talking about "the dark area" in the sun temple. I don't understand where it's supposed to be.
I've explored the whole temple including the topmost area with the spinning cogs.
Also what is the crystal for?

The dark area is the area where it is too dark to see very well. Go down and you will find it.
The crystal is related to that, but first you have to find a way to power it up.

I have taken it to the room where you see a large fish through a looking glass, I guess there is a ray of light powerful enough to have "powered" it up. It doesn't feel/look very powered up, though.
I also don't see it possible to take the crystal all the way to the top to the "main light"
EDIT: is it the areas where you are unable to use map or mini-map that you refer to as dark areas? I could problably leave the sun temple as I've got my form, two treasures and a memory, but I'm trying not to miss any parts of the game so I don't want to rush past.
It'd be nice if someone sent me a message with a screenshot of where to power up the crystal, although I doubt anyone would bother doing that :/ (I know I wouldn't)

If you already have sunform you must've passed the dark areas. The crYstal is only a makeshift light for this areas before you get sun form. The place with the big fish in the background is the right one to lighten it up, if it worked the crYstal will fall from its plattform and then you can take it underwater.

Haha, so you went through them, you noticed you couldn't see the minimap but wouldn't class them as "dark" areas? Wow.

I guess I didn't find anything special about not seeing the minimap, as I've had to memorise the main map due to minimap going black before. I guess I'll be making my way towards the abyss now ;)
By the way, does the rukh(?) bird always drop rukh eggs, or is that random as well?

You have to shoot the crap out of the birds to get them to drop eggs. Jump relatively near it, then just aim up and hammer right click in energy form.
