Li the same thing, a normal human suddenly seeing a mermaid, he gets scared and runs off, having never seen that before, he uses the wrong roads and gets cornered.Second memory... *wink* *wink*
Yup, he forgot, as it seems. And I like that part of the storyline very much, I said I found the reactions of both characters very realistic. But still, it is a very much creepy scene if you imagine it from a first person view, pretending not knowing the events that predate it.
I think that sometimes Naija can be a frightening character. She's practically a dangerous predator. The beast form is good symbol of that aspect, that's why I liked a previous fanart depicting her as repulsive monster. Sometimes she does things, that are, let's just say, not too environmentally sensitive. One of the oddest scene's of the game is when you venture into the nest of Nautilus Prime, kill the big momma, and raise a little nautilus made orphan by your own actions.
I think, this lack of strict definiton of good and evil in the characters of Aquaria is an important element of the story. Think of the Creator, Naija's mom, Naija herself. Also, we are the most cruel predators of Earth, yet we don't like seeing ourselves like this. In the end, this duality of the characters becomes a sensitive description of the nature of humanity.
That is why I would hate if this aspect of Aquaria never got adressed. It's sure relaxing to view her as the cute little girl that she is, but the other aspects of her character are the things that make her really interesting, and not just another reincarnation of disney's little mermaid.
Right after the scene with the baby, there's the pan back up to the original cave and Naija's line about:I thought it was cool how if you're watching closely as the scene fades, you'll notice that Naija is frowning.
"I longed for the feeling of discovering new waters - striving for a destination that lay just beyond the next wave..."
then in her cave, as she's sitting on the rock just like at the beginning of the game
"...it would never come again"
He was more like a pet really. Obviously he couldn't talk under water, but he could have had body language or something to show his affection in some other way.

It has almost been a year since I bought this game, and I have enjoyed every second (I recently saw the first ending, and there's still the final ending left as I have found all the memories + of course much more to search). That's why making this picture was very important to me, like a gentle farewell to the Naija's magical journey of discoveries and adventures. So basically, my thanks in a form of a picture.

You are very talented so you should learn how to use colour or you are selling yourself very short and I would be honoured to be able to help

That can be quite frustrating, that "image-in-mind" -thing. Sometimes I see pictures crystal-clearly in my mind, and then I'm trying to transfer that image to paper. And even more frustrating; it's almost impossible to do, and the finished work always lacks something :-\ It's quite funny feature, though.

Well, I want to draw something from Aquaria. I like to have variety in my drawings, and don't use one theme for more than a few of them. I just thought Aquaria would be fun to draw. I usually have to draw something more than once for it to turn out good, and I'm one of those people who need
things to look good. If I know I could do a drawing better in some way I usually redo it. I don't have a scanner, but I could find someone who does. Or just take a picture with a digital camera, although those sometimes don't show enough detail.

She is very feral-looking. Definitely eerie. At a glance her expression seems to be very angry and hateful. Looking longer the expression seems stern and determined, yet a bit worn out too. :o Like I guessed, there was great amount of work to finish that painting. Amazing skills, but generally seeing how you used layers made it look "rather" easy. Although, I think I now know the reason why I skipped painting programs... because I never realized the idea of using layers :'(
When it comes to tutorials, videos are a way more better than pictures with text, even if it takes more time to produce one. Fascinating to see how the painting developed.

Re: the first image, with Naija in the crystal -- it was always my impression that the blue crystals stored the spirit/consciousness of a creature, not the creature itself. The actual physical Naija went off with Mia to conquer the civilizations beyond the Veil, while her mind and memories were stored in the crystal, which Lucien discovered.
That's looking nice, I think "mangaish" style fits Naija well.

One thing which looks a bit odd (only minor thing), is Naijas ears. Looks like ears reaches to her chin.It might look a bit odd from that perspective but i think the "ears" are considerably accurate, in the original sprite they start around the hinge of the jaw which i tried to do as well. Maybe I should have broken the line though.

Also her face looks a bit ogre-ish. Head too wide and nose and mouth are a bit meh, probably also wide.

She is one of ten mermaids whose lower torsos resemble a single tentacle. Each was a merfolk slave to a kraken and was mortally wounded, before being “saved” by a sea hag who grafted each of the kraken’s tentacles onto the unwilling mermaids, after the beast was slain. Now the mermaids have begun to exhibit the kraken’s powers and share its memories.
As the DM of an online undersea D&D game, I have found programs like Bryce to be invaluable tools to help get images out of my head and into the imaginations of my players.

She looks just fine to me :) no, better than fine, fantastic! She's meant to be about 16, but to my mind she is a bit precocious and a bit juvenile, so I don't think she will necessarily look her age at all times.
As for eye color, unless it's changed recently, they are blue ;D

As an artist myself I can understand and appreciate how much love and care Alec puts into his work (and how much care you must have put into making this). This captures that feeling perfectly. Awesome work.

O sheesh, that's just amazing. Even though I'm usually not very font of art that has a deeper meaning to it besides what's in the picture itself. AKA, you have to know what and who it is in there. This one looks really great though.

I reckoned with all that swimming, she'd need legs and thighs of steel. Also wanted to make her hands and feet more fin-like and make her body more sinewy to glide more easily in water.
Yay! Distortion on reality! (Depending on what your reality is.) But you have an artistic license, and I do like this piece. Simple, but expressive.+1

Well, previously Alphasoldier suggested a theme "nature boss fight", and that was a great idea. So yes, basically I'm "listening" if someone could suggest me an idea what to draw.
Previously I have drawn Naija in Mithalas ruins, scene of memories, energy form, menu screen version, Naija sitting on a cliff... and it seems I have forgotten some of the most unique moments.
