Title: *Spoiler* forms
Post by: Joakim on December 16, 2007, 01:36:00 am
I just found out that I can charge my dual-form by killing the plants you grow with nature-form. It's a good trick.

Anyone else know a "secret way" of using any forms?

For example Spirit form, Alec told us that there is a secret use of this form that noone know of yet or something like that.

go crazy

*EDIT i just found out from loke the alternate spiritform-use. When using spiritmode you can rightclick on projectiles and every 5th projectile you will gain health. Also the shot will disappear as soon as you go back to normal mode, not only every 5th :D

i'll just restate it here, i've rewritten it to make it clearer

Spirit Form : Alternate Use
Spirit Form Healing
Right Clicking in Spirit form allows you to absorb enemy projectiles, projectiles disappear in the process (effectively eliminating a source of damage)

Right Click works in a small radius. Area of Effect is around the "spirit" (blue orb you control)

for every 5 projectiles absorbed
HP is healed incrementally (heals an amount as effective as healing items)
5 projectiles do not have to be onscreen at a time in order to heal - absorbed projectiles are still counted toward the next time you absorb (therefore you can enter and exit spirit form several times in order to 'gather' enough projectiles to heal)

-> shooting enemies you encounter are now effectively med packs

more information:
moving into projectiles will damage you, so don't get too close
if attempts are made to absorb an enemy projectile in which the enemy has been destroyed, projectile will not be absorbed
you can collect blue healing particles in spirit form by moving over them
some enemy projectiles can't be absorbed  : /

Energy Form
Extra Shots on Charged Shot release
ONE (1) extra shot
Method 1
after pressing the swim key press the swim key again to do a roll (i still think of it as a boost key :<)
if a charged shot is released during this roll, an extra shot occurs , 4 shots are fired instead of 3

Method 2
cling to a wall by pressing the swim key whilst swimming into it,
launch away from the wall (pressing the swim key)
if a charged shot is released during this time, an extra shot occurs, 4 shots are fired instead of 3

THREE (3) extra shots
cling to a wall by pressing the swim key whilst swimming into it,
launch away from the wall (pressing the swim key) and press the swim key again to do a roll
if a charged shot is released during this roll, 3 extra shots occur, 6 shots are fired instead of 3

Beast Form
Extra shots upon firing (after eating something)
In the same vein, 1 or 2 additional projectiles may be fired
ONE (1) extra shot
Method 1
press the swim key again after a boost to roll
if a shot is fired during this roll, an extra shot occurs, 2 shots are fired instead of 1

Method 2
cling to a wall and launch yourself, fire during the launch

TWO (2) extra shots
cling to a wall; launch from the wall by pressing the swim key, whilst in the launch press swim key again to perform a roll
if a shot is fired during this roll, 2 extra shots occur, 3 shots are fired instead of 1

Healing
swim into stuff, upon consumption of an enemy you heal a bit

Fish Form
Right Clicking shoots bubbles
Certain enemies may be trapped using bubbles then bound using bind
thanks to  dhakkel jamespie and zeno for clarification

Nature form
briar launch yourself when out of water for super height (i thought it was a cactus) etc etc generally hit or miss
works in more than one way, you can launch yourself in nature form straight from a surface
or you can cling onto the briar then launch
or you can set one down, followed by changing forms and then 'boosting', using the swim key into it

able to touch spikes / anemones without getting hurt etc

Fish bubbles trap those light-fish at the entrance to the Abyss, too. I don't know why, though.

They allso trap the little homing squid things that get launched out of the nests and follow you slowly...

Also, the glowing jellies in the abyss, which you can then bind and move around.

I guess if you're that desperate for light, you could do that... like if you don't have sun form or something.

You can trap enemies in it. I used it for the Sun Worm to stop him moving all around.

Thanks loke, that's very appreciated, I once had my beast form shoot out two projectiles and I had no clue how I did that, same for spirit form.

Hehe.

Im playing the game over and making each boss an extra save file for each boss in the game. Im trying to see what different strategies to use on the bosses. Apparently the 3 chicks you have to fight for spirit form can be bubbled by fish form and they can get hurt while theyre invisible by nature forms charge attack. The bubble is really useful since you can bubble all 3 at the beginning and whenever they pop theyre visible and abble to attack. Its fun to kill them off one at a time like that, keeping 2 in a bubble till one dies. :)

sweet! I was overthinking this, trying to actually spin after launching off a rock.  that's quite the lightshow

Hmm...is there any time you NEED Sun form other than *SPOILERS DON'T READ*the final boss?  Obviously you need it for a couple of puzzles and an optional boss, but if you just catch a little fishy and use that in the Abyss can you actually get to the end of the game without Sun Form?

Actually, you use it in the body too, there's alot of dark there, and then to mention the Creator's third form, but you can use a pet with that too. So yes, indeed you only require it in the end. =p

You need it on the sunken city. I checked that on my second run since I was wondering if it was possible to get to the end of the game without it.

Spoiler: The Creator's final form also requires Sun form.

The Creator's final form also requires Sun form.

Actually, the question was if it was needed prior to that  ;)

Yea I put it in tiny text (with some difficulty) to avoid spoilers to the people who havn't beaten him yet.

With some difficulty? what size you want it to be? =p

Also, if you would just list the things you do with it, maybe it's easier to pick it out then. =p
See in the dark.
Light up the bulbs in the whale.
Last boss.

And further use I don't know really, I think some fish start glowing more or something.

Ah, yes. Good point. I've updated my post with tiny text. No good for blind users, of course. :)

EDIT: In case this is too subtle, I know that blind users can't play the game anyway. I was attempting to be funny. I'll keep my day job.
