Title: Minor glitch: key change
Post by: Fibonacci on October 30, 2011, 04:14:49 am
Hello.

I've noticed a strange minor glitch (or at least I think it's a glitch) in Aquaria.
At the beginning of the game the note ring is tuned, I assume, in C major: starting from the bottommost note and continuing counter-clockwise, it's C D E F G A B C.
After defeating the fallen god, the B in the circle drops to B flat, partly tuning the circle in F major (though it will still start and end in C).
However, after saving and reloading the game in Naija's home, the note circle is back to C major.

Is that by design?

I heard that the notes are supposed to be in-tune with the background music. Haven't checked the code, though.

Yes, the B note changes between B natural and B flat so it matches the key of the current music. (To be precise, it's preset for each map depending on the music track or tracks used on that map.)

Well, I've gone back to check, and there is a definite section right after the battle with the fallen god where B natural drops to B flat.
However, the background music is the same as in the previous section, so surely this is not to match the key of the music.

That particular case is a bug.
