Wow, I am having trouble trying to figure out how to beat him, and he is kind of annoying to get to. Can anyone give me some pointers?

I'd love a tip on that one. I'm finding I spend far too much time having to "turn the lights on", shoot the squid, with barely enough time to swim up to him to find a weakness before the lights go out. Suspiciously, the teaser video seems to have the lights on.

Hint: You need to get close to his face for him to be vulnerable.
In-depth solution: Probably not the only way to beat him, but I would attach myself to the wall directly above his head (his orbs couldn't hit me there), and cast the charged light. If there's a mini squid thing I'd rail on him quickly, then jump directly down in front of his face and get out quickly, all the while shooting. His tongue sticks out, and my bullets hit him. Takes quite a while as only a few hits in each time, but eventually it got there.

Exactly the tactics I used.
Although remember to swim away quickly as you fire at his exposed tongue, lest you get caught by his tentacle.
