Title: The Turtle and the Whale
Post by: Mull on December 10, 2007, 12:31:01 am
... Yeah, so how about that whale? I assume it has to do with the pearl-locked gate in the middle of Abyss, but I can't get to the pearl. I also can't figure out where to play the song the octopus sings, and I've tried all kinds of places.

... Also, can you do anything with the giant turtle?

Agreed, I found the whale song and cannot for the life of me figure out where to sing it.

quick question though, which octapuss do you get a song from/where do you find it?

... Spoiler. If you haven't explored the abyss yet, do that first.

The whale is at the bottom of the abyss, east section, sort of in the center. Take a left at the turtle and keep going left, past the barrier (you'll need spirit form). Play him the whale's song and you'll be allowed inside to find a power upgrade and, at the end, an empty room with the pearl needed to open the gate in the middle of the area (I assume) and an octopus singing a tune of four notes - you don't actually see the notes, but the octopus releases colored clouds as well as sings the tune.

Took me an hour, but I figured it out! Hint: Using a charged Sun form burst on the lamp in the room with the singing octopus will light it.

Yeah I kind of have the same problem as Laharah, except the other way around; I found a whale but no idea about a song for it: don't suppose I could get a hint on the general area to find the whale song?

/*spoiler/

it's right above the sea horse area and below the second open water area. it's on the right wall, you need to go fish form and go into the mouth of a statue.

Hope that helps.

Will the song show up in your song book when you learn it?  I'm sitting at it right now and nothings happening when I sing it.

5 notes right?

You'll have to note it down on paper or learn it by hard. Doesn't get saved anywhere.

Finally. I guess I was a little too hung up on the singing.

Many thanks.

What about the big turtle thats in The Veil?  He always yells at me, but I haven't found a way to interact with him.

There's also a huge Snail somewhere (can't recall where exactly) that isn't doing anything either. I guess they are just supposed to "Wow" you.

I've killed the giant snail's entire family and brought the shells of the dead to it, trust me, nothing happens.

as for the giant turtle... i think i scared it away...

spoiler: under him there is a bunch of rocks, if you move em there is a egg, if you go back to the giant turtle is runs away and hides 9or at least for me he did) and then i never saw him again :<.

Could not find how to play this damn 4 notes :( (identified as top-right, right, bottom-left, bottom).

When you  turn on the lamp, the color is orange (top-left note), should I play this note too ?

In reference to Laharah:

What in god's green earth are you talking about?  which open area is the second? which of the 10s of sea horse spots?  Sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense to me. x_x

That's the problem with spoilers, they don't make sense if you haven't been there. Therefore it is a good tip to not read them until you are really lost and in need for them.

Of course there are more spots with seahorses, but only one with loads of them: The arnassi ruins in the maps between open water and the abyss.

You're going to have to be more specific than that.  If you refer to the door at the bottom left of the Abyss, you need Li with you.  Then just right-click on the door.

What is Li?

Li is a human diver you find in the veil.

The tent is merely a cooking spot where you have 3 slots to cook in, further below the Tent is the spot where you should corner Li

I tried different orders with that octopuss sing, but all I managed to find is another code leading to the Spirit form...

You have to lit up the lamps to imitate the song the octo plays. Use charged sun form.

XD thanks

I thought the lamps indicated a new song that we had to sing to the octopuss.
I acted just the opposite that I was supposed to ><
