HOLY SCHNIKIES!!!!

Note: This is also the first release of the Linux version of Aquaria. :) (1.1.3)
-
New user here was about to post that link in the Linux thread as i didn't see you mention it there but then i found this, great work, downloading now :D
-
I have 4 of the 5 games there, so I bought it as a gift. Now I'm just looking for someone to give it to :)
Also spammed it everywhere ;)
I was just wondering, out of curiousity, about one thing - "You can rest assured that 100% of your purchase goes directly to the developers and non-profits as you specify"... Don't paypal/google/amazon take fees?
anyway, this is an amazing deal. The $5000 already raised is just the beginning :)
-
OMG! That's awesome! :D
-
Bought the pack, not sure I will play those games (I already played World of Goo and Aquaria), but I just wanted to support the indie developers :)
I'm a bit surprised to see the average money people give is ... 7.6$ (the pack is worth 80$)
-
$42,500....
And two people paid $200.
-
Wow, this really seems something. Top-notch games, Aquaria and WoG especially. Could this be The Chance to show my friends couple good examples of Indie games?
Hehehh, that trailer was awesome as well.
-
There will always be those who abuse systems like this by paying a penny or a dollar, and those who go above and beyond by paying 100 or 500 (I saw one of these on the list!) because they care. I think it evens out in the end :)
-
avarge is ~$7.50. I think it's a reasonable pay-what-you-want price.
Edit: almost $60,000....
Edit: past $60,000.

Saw the news about this on Ars Technica (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/05/the-greatest-indie-game-sale-ever-and-how-it-came-to-be.ars), and then immediately saw it posted in a couple other places as well. I figured I'd drop by here and say thanks for being a part of something like this Alec. I bought the bundle to give to my brother, hopefully he'll enjoy Aquaria as much as I did.
-
I would've paid $ 13.37, but it's too less. ;)
Where do you see all the stats, NeatNit?
-
Lol, on this page ( http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/05/the-greatest-indie-game-sale-ever-and-how-it-came-to-be.ars ) it looks like Naija is swimming into that Penumbra beast's mouth. :)
You can find the stats on the actual sales page (see lower right) http://wolfire.com/humble
-
There's a "statistic" section on front page for such a information.
I noticed there were two topics from this subject made in Pelit-forum (Pelit--> Finlands largest gaming magazine, but not big if compared to its global "colleagues"). I saw that some people kept telling that Aquaria is the only game worthy of 20-25 $ in that package, but they have had some difficulties with their game activations and with feedback related to that problem (I guess this is the old problem related to Plimus and its way of doing things). Thats why they paid low prices.
I'm not too sure if I should post such a things here, but I found that interesting.
-
:o ;D
Yes, please.

FYI, I'm not blind - something you must've thought after my question. ;) The stats just don't appear in my Firefox (dunno why). I just tested Opera and there they are. :)
-
I use firefox and see it fine. Also I sww it fine if I go from my iPod Touch :P

Awesome! I've been waiting for this. I've only posted here once before and that was to show support for the port :)
I noticed the combined Mac + Linux contribution seems to be around the 47% mark as compared to Windows (while only making up ~10% potential customers). I'm wondering.... what is each demographic willing to contribute per head? Out of interest. I'm assuming the sales numbers are Windows -> Mac -> Linux, in number?
-
I'm Chekonjak on Reddit. One of the members gave me a key for making him laugh. ;D Link to thread. (http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/c068w/three_omegle_strangers_in_a_row_have_turned_down/)
In related news, I made the front page with this post. (http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/bzq6x/1_million_steam_users_drop_off_the_radar_in_less/)

When the World of Goo guys tried something like this back in the day, I think Linux users had the highest average donation, followed by Mac users ending with Windows users.

When you guys say "no DRM" does that also refer to how you buy a game and then need to register online at their site before you can play it? This is a big problem for me as I don't have internet at home but I have it at work. I can download or buy games but then I have no connection when I play them at home so I'm screwed in that respect. This has kept me from playing some games for PC like Mass Effect. So, does this fall under the "DRM" defintion? I'm not entirely sure what that means.
-
Thanks for the Linux version, loving it :)

Yes. You will not have a problem.
-
I imagine there will be a statistical writeup on the sales after it's over. I'm really interested to see the details :)

I don't think so. I think you get a download link in your email, and once they're downloaded you can play them without internet access.
-
Great, thanks for the info. I'll get to buying then...I'm especially interested in that Gish game.
-
Okay, I'm in. No offense to the foundations but I sent 100% to the developers. They probably need it more.
-
I'm very seriously considering this. Darn I still don't have a credit card...

There's more info about the average contribution on http://www.wolfire.com/humble now.
Quite interesting, taking the average contribution for each sale (per platform) results in roughly:
70.9% of sales - Windows (53% Contribution)
16.6% of sales - Mac (24% Contribution)
12.5% of sales - Linux (23% Contribution)
I'm probably out a few percent but that should be broadly correct.
Edit: Clearly I'm a total noob and missed the blog post about this: http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/05/Linux-users-contribute-twice-as-much-as-Windows-users
FTA:
"Our breakdown for number of donations per platform is: 65% Windows, 21% Mac, and 14% Linux. However, when we look at the amount donated per platform, we see something different. Our breakdown for total donation size per platform is 52% Windows, 25% Mac, and 23% Linux. "

I did the same... and again with a gifted bundle. I think our world is plagued with too many starving artists. ;)
I'd be curious to see the distribution between charity and developers.
-
Nearly one million dollars and still 7 hours left. Totally incredible! I don't think anybody expected so much money. :D
Aquaria for Linux works flawless over here, btw. :)
-
Just made my own 'purchase', amazing how much money this has came up with.
