Title: 2007.12.07 Full Version Patch - Fixes Start Problem
Post by: chaoticevl on December 08, 2007, 03:55:56 am
I just installed the game which went through just fine started the game up once and found it kinda dark so I exited and checked the config file to see if the buffer was the cause. I started up the game again and i can't get in it keeps giving me a "Error: Access Violation at 0x011bb51 (tried to write to 0x4DBAC10), program terminated" Error. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice and keep getting the same error. any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

ALEC: "Here is the fix: http://bit-blot.com/files/aquaria_full_patch.zip (http://bit-blot.com/files/aquaria_full_patch.zip) Thanks guys!"

To use this patch, extract "aquaria.exe" and overwrite the old "c:\program files\aquaria\aquaria.exe". (note: if you installed the game to another directory, the path will be different)

I get the same error. Except mine's saying 0x0120BB51 and 0x4D93AC10. Or 0x4DBAC10, it changes. I haven't tried reinstalling. But I uh... restarted my laptop. I hope it's something that can be fixed with a little fiddling of the config file or something :s

Add me to this list. Any help appreciated. Same message, don't know the specifics of the numbers, but same general message.

I'm on a widescreen monitor, given it only supports 4:3, is that the issue. I'm, quite frankly, not the most PC literate person in the world, to say the least.

Same here. 16:10 Laptop screen. I don't think that's the issue though. I tried switching to 800*600 resolution, no joy.

The aqconfig works.

i've tried redownloading the installer and that didn't work either.

Same here. I was watching the intro and there was this weird bar across the bottom of the screen. So I exited to see if I could change the resolution, and when I tried to open it back up, I got that same error message.

Hrm.

Have you guys tried windowed mode?

Also what OSes are you running.

Same here.  It worked once.  Second time I launched it (pot pie was done cooking in the microwave), I got the error.

Windows XP SP2
nVidia gForce 6800 with latest drivers.
Running 1024x768

Full Version of Aquaria

If you want to email me your debug.log I can take a look... zaphire@gmail.com

I've also seemingly run into this problem.

First startup: Enter my registration key, activation is successful, game starts. I skipped the intro and quit out. I'm on a 16:10 display so I was going to change my display scaling to stop stretching beautiful, beautiful Aquaria.

Subsequent attempts to run the game result in similar exception errors.

System details:

Windows XP SP2
Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4400+
2 gigs of RAM
Geforce 8800GT (Latest Nvidia drivers - WHQL certified, released Oct 31, version 169.02)

Things I've tried:

-Setting native resolution to 800x600 and running the game.
-Uninstalling/reinstalling (manually deleting the folder after uninstall).
-Turning off all graphics options in AQConfig.

I'm poking around with other options.

Also the debug.log (which I deleted, doh) ends on the line about opening/initializing Graphics Libraries.

DSQ init
Mipmaps Enabled
DeveloperKeys Disabled
VoiceOvers Enabled
Init Graphics Library...

Thats my debug log.  Windowed mode gives same error.

I deleted the original debug log along with the config file after the 1st error (i knwo...stupid).  The new debug log doesnt get any larger no matter how many times i launch.

If you CTRL+ALT+DEL is there another process of aquaria running?

What I'm thinking is when you quit the first one maybe it didn't shut down properly.

My debug.log also ends with "Init Graphics Library..."

In your posts I see a glimmer of cause for of hope - if it can begin working then get broken, perhaps the reverse is possible!

I'm using Windows XP Home edition service pack 2. I've tried a few different resolutions and window combinations.
I'll see if I can get any new drivers for my rubbish built-in ATI laptop graphics cog.

Alec - I just sent my debug.log to that gmail account, but it's identical to the kegel's.

I restarted my machine and it's still not working, so I doubt it's a rogue process.

Darn, this topic moves fast.

Forgot to mention! I cleaned my reg key from windows registry, reinstalled, and it still died (no clean first-run like last time)

I'm DLing the demo package now.

Anyone else clean their registry with ccleaner after install?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BITBLOT_Aquaria

That is the only registry key I can find referring to aquaria.

i just did that myself just in case.

I found only one relevant key with a search for the phrase "Aquaria" - I will assume it was the same as yours, Kegel.

Alec - Demo runs once... runs twice.

Full version (installed in parallel to default folder) is still error-ing out.

Well I've tried the demo as well worked the first time, exited and altered the config exactly like i did with the real version and it still worked, so i'm confused.

Arg I downloaded a load of ATI crap that didn't properly install, and I'm not sure if it's safe to uninstall.

But the patch!

IT WORKS IT WORKS IT WORKS

Thank you Alec!

But now it's 4:34... to play or to sleep.

Just watched the intro. I'll just play... a little bit... maybe. Yes.

Alec, you just put the biggest smile on my face.  Way to support your fans, mate.  That was the fastest bug fix I've ever seen.

Also Citrus, you won't be able to stop.  I'm just playing the *demo* even though I already purchased the game, and I keep meaning to fix this computer stuff I have to fix before installing the real thing... but I can't stop.  I just keep going.  I was expecting to like it, but I wasn't expecting how much it's surprised me already.  If the game continues to be this full of as many little joys as the demo has shown so far... then I'll... I don't know.  There should be a second part to that sentence, but I sort of can't think of anything.

Anyway, back to playing.  I mean... doing what I'm supposed to be doing, and *then* playing.  I swear.  Arg...
