Title: How to take screenshot under Linux
Post by: Dee on January 17, 2010, 08:25:19 am
Hello,

how can I take a screenshot in the Linux version of the game. If I hit Ctrl+Alt+P or Printscreen the HUD flickers a little bit so that you could assume something has been taken but where is the image saved? There is no screenshot folder in /home/USER/bin/aquaria or in /home/USER/.Aquaria.

Outside screen grabbers do not work either because - I suppose - Aquaria grabs all keys so that programs like Shutter won't work.

Thanks for your answers in advance
Dee

Depending on your dist, printscreen just saves an image to your clipboard, meaning if you open up an image editor you can Edit->Paste it in. Gimp should work, for one.

Not in Aquaria unfortunately. I suppose (again) that Aquaria really captures all keys. So the system does not really register that "Printscreen" has been pressed. So the result is that the clipboard is empty because the image is not copied to it.

Distribution is btw Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit.

I dunno much about the Linux equivalent, but I do know that Print Screen works perfectly fine on Windows.

I also suppose that it's Linux-related. In Windows Ctrl+Alt+P works fine too I think.

But before opening a bug report I want to be sure that there isn't a (hidden) way to take screenshots. :)

I finally found a bugreport (I've search "screenshot" before, not "shoot") ... http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4390

So the bug will be resolved in the Linux release version. :)
