Title: Aquaria: The Piano Collection
Post by: Tarami on January 10, 2010, 12:31:23 am
Just wanted to post this, I couldn't see that it had been posted:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=AE95DEC9A8D212A3

Apparently he intends to arrange ten songs in total, so keep checking back I suppose. Great stuff. :D

It had been posted by Alec before; but that was back when there were only 2 songs. I like his work. :) I hope he continues.

Hello people,
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I just became aware that this was posted here.  Glad to see you liked them.
Anyway if you didn't know there were 9 songs uploaded to youtube.

Since then I have obtained better equipment and re-recorded every track (and finished a new one).
The new recordings haven't been posted yet in any way, but i did put out the new track "Above" found here (http://www.fileden.com/files/2009/6/24/2487612//Above%20Sample.mp3).
I have been getting people asking if they can download/buy it somewhere.  Me and Alec had talked about it at some point, so if people are interested let us know.
Anyway enjoy the new track.  ;)

p.s. I originally put that little jazz lick in "Above" as a joke, but it was so fun I couldn't take it out after I did it.

Haha. Here's the guy himself! :D Excellent work mate; I'd love to be able to download them as a collection. :D

I'd be interested to know which is people's favorite one.  I certainly know which one I enjoyed the most and which one brought me nothing but pain.... (you can probably guess the latter)

I was also considering doing one final "Sounds of Aquaria" medley with a bunch of tracks I didn't do yet.
If I were to do it, what tracks would people want to hear in it?  Maybe your suggestions will spark a few ideas.

Hmm interesting idea, what songs were you thinking of?

Maybe all the bosses in order of meeting, leaving out the reused songs? I don't know the names of the songs off the top of my head, and I don't have iTunes on the computer I'm on right now. :(

The only thing is that boss themes tend to be awkward on piano...so it would probably take some creative arranging to get it to work.  ;)

I'm sure you can handle it; though I have no idea of who you are (other than the amazing piano person xD), I have faith in you. =^.^=

There's a lot of good ones...

I'll pick 10 that I think that might be well suited to a piano medley conversion.

1. Light
2. Home
3. Technique
4. Archaic
5. Remains
6. Heart of the Forest
7. Dark Places
8. Sunken City
9. Lost Waters
10. Sun Temple

Hope that helps. :)

You probably already know this, but if you wanted to name some of the songs you like- in your Aquaria directory the game songs are in the "mus" sub-directory in OGG format. :)

Alright I started sketching some ideas

p.s. if you were wondering which i was referring to earlier.
Fear the Dark was the most fun and Undiscovered Waters was the least fun

@ShadowOnTheSun: Say, are you any good at picking out tracks from the songs? I'm doing a sheet music transcoding project, and we might be able to hekp each other out.

Sure I could probably help you out.  What were you trying to do, sheet music the way it is in the original song or some sort of reduction?

I'm trying to do it as original as possible. I have made some progress, but the currently uploaded version of The Traveller is here: http://www.bit-blot.com/forum/index.php?topic=2161.0

Yeah I think I can help with that some.

Also eventually I plan on making sheet music for my arrangements available.

I just finished recording the "Memories of Aquaria Medley" this morning.
You can listen to it here (http://bit.ly/b5EGx6)

So now I can make sure everything is good and nicely packaged and I can set up a download for the whole re-recorded album.

You are welcome.  Thanks for the suggestions, I was having trouble thinking of songs to use but when I saw you say Sun Temple, it all struck me.

Thanks everyone

This week I finished the sheet music,  I still need to check it for mistakes but it looks pretty good.

Awesome! I keep listening to your (and Alec's) amazing work for the past month. I could listen to them all day... oh wait... I have.  ;)
I tried play some of them myself, but I haven't much talent in playing by ear.

I'm really glad you still went ahead with undiscovered waters; you really made it shine. I was also delighted that you included lost waters (probably my favourite in aquaria) in the medly. I loooove that whole sequence from The Sun Temple->Lost waters.

I would have sheet music done, but i was making some last minute edits and an update came down for my notation program.   I did it and the update screwed up my notation fonts.  So I need to resolve that problem first.

I know  :-\
Someone should be getting back to me today on how to fix it.

Say, what notation program are you using? I could check your sheet music if you export it to MusicXML.

Its all back in working order.  :)
GMMan I use Sibelius.

I wish I had Sibelius, except I can't afford it :) (Anyways, I probably don't need anything too fancy... I can sort of "get by" with MuseScore.)

Done!  All last minute changes to sheet music are finished.  I have sent an email or two to Alec that I'm waiting to hear back on before I do anything else.
A preview is up on my twitter (http://twitter.com/BKennedy90) though

Did anyone get a chance to look at my sheet music sample?
If so how did it look?  I don't mean specific notes being right because I'm pretty sure about that.
Just overall look, spacing, etc.

Here is the link if someone wants to give feedback http://bit.ly/9MdCuc

Well, I'm no musician but it looks fine to me based on other sheet music I've seen and played from so it's probably all good. :)

So, what ever became of this? Did you ever work anything out with Holowka/Bit Blot to make the music/sheet music available? Or am I doomed to just watch the youtube videos?  :(

Any more sheets available for your covers? I really love the Medley and I'm overjoyed to be able to attempt to play it :)

There is just something about Aquaria music that sounds just as good on the piano as it does from the OST. :D
