Hey guys. I've been following the game for some time now, and now with a release date nailed down I was hoping to get a firm list of PC requirements. I ran a search and the requirements thread hadn't been replied in for months, so hopefully it was all right to start a new one. My PC isn't great by any means, but so long as I can run this I'm not really concerned.
My specs:
AMD Athlon 2200 - 1.68 GHz
1.0 GB RAM
GeForce 4 MX 4000
Thanks for any info.!

I think you'll be able to run it, it may not run full a 60FPS all the time though. I also think the ripple effects + surface reflections will be disabled. (since I'm guessing your card probably doesn't have OpenGL frame buffer support. even if it did you'd probably want to disable ripples for speed anyways.)
I tested on a machine that sounds a lot similar to that and it was definitely playable.
(processor was more like 1.6 and video card was a geforce 2, which i believe is mostly equivalent to a 4mx. the system only had 512mb i think as well. not sure how much ram was on the card [64 or less])
There are also resolution and a couple other settings (VSync, fps smoothing) that may get you some more mileage.
But once the demo is out, give it a spin and let us know! I'll definitely make some tweaks if they're necessary to help people get the game up and running as well as possible.

Thanks for the timely response and info. I'll be sure to give the demo a whirl first and see how it goes, though from the sound of it I shouldn't have any troubles.

You're welcome. :)
'Nother thing I should mention is that its important to get the latest drivers for your video card. (provided you're currently using an old set)

I've got a 733 mhz PPC processor, 768 megs of RAM, and a graphics card with 64 megs of VRAM.
Are the specs about the same for macs and pcs? I'm mainly worried about the processor... :-\
It's not so much that I need the best graphics, I just want to be able to play it with relatively solid performance.

Geforce 4MX doesn't work, at least for me.
I downloaded the demo, installed it without problems, not getting any weird errors
When I started the game, i went through the configurations, kept everything default. It seemed to load okay, as i get a black screen with the loading bar in brackets with "loading" in the middle, but then I get a white screen of horizontal gray lines that change in size, a pure white screen, then a black screen which i assume is the menu screen, since i can hear the music and such just fine (same with the other two screens).
I can press the space bar and hear a sound about 3 times, so i know the system itself is working, its definitely my graphics card.
Don't know why I'm going into so much detail, since this probably isn't a glitch and is just a simple fact that the graphics card is incompatable.

That card is known to work with the game. Do you have the latest drivers from Nvidia?
Also what operating system are you running?
And if possible, try running windowed. (run AQConfig and uncheck fullscreen)

Hey guys, just gave the demo a go. Worked fine for me, and I'm also the one who started the thread, so I also have a 4MX. I'd say grab the latest drivers and give them a go.
Even running on 800x600 I still get a bit of lag. It seems to be just when I swim down through any large areas(e.g. one of the big open sections of the Song Cave). It's not a big deal, and I don't think it will affect gameplay. Alec, what do you think? Do you think any of the large sprites, or having many on screen would give me a lot of trouble? The section where you...umm...are fighting for your life, basically, ran pretty well, though when I got hit by an enemy it would give me a sort of bubble of slowdown, though that seemed like it could be intentional.
EDIT: I didn't run through the entire demo. Just up until I could explore the area around the Song Cave and Najia's home.

running on Windows XP, tried window mode and still didn't work.
I feel rather silly for asking, but how DO I update my drivers? I go to the nvidia site and it says it no longer supports my drivers or some such.
EDIT: disregard, a friend helped me out with it, and with the update its fine.

For people with older machines who are on the fence, I have a fairly old system:
- Athlon XP 2600+ (1.92 GHz)
- 1 GB RAM
- ATI Radeon 9200 (128 MB) video card
- Windows XP SP2
and the demo didn't even so much as hiccup running at 1024x768 resolution full screen. Everything was smooth as could be. The only slowness I noticed was the load time when moving from one map area to another, but even then the music keeps playing the whole time, so it doesn't ruin the immersion.
And may I just throw in a quick bit of praise: fabulous job guys! Large game shops could learn a thing or a hundred from you :).
Chuck.

I'm pretty damn sure you can, but the only thing that makes me wonder is your processor. you could try downloading the demo before giving the full game a buy (thats what i did, although I'm having to wait till Christmas to get my copy)

Just finished playing the demo, ran well....hope they implement a widescreen patch soon
