Hey everyone. I just remembered about a cool story regarding Aquaria that my father told me. I should have posted this sooner, but I had forgotten about it. Here goes:
My father works at a Bank. Needless to say, he's old and boring. None the less, I told him about how great a game Aquaria is going to be, considering its (at the time recent) grand prize win at the IGF. I honestly didn't even think my dad was listening, but he took in the information and mentioned it at work to another colleague. Another employee at the bank had also heard of Aquaria. Turns out her two boys have been talking about Aquaria too. The children, in turn, learned about the game from one of their school teachers.
And that's pretty much the story. I promise it's true and I guess it's not so hard to believe since it's boring and all.
The interesting thing about this though is how you got to really start to wonder... how many people are talking about Aquaria? Once the marketing starts, this has potential to have big sales! All the way from bankers to teachers to school children, everyone will be wanting Aquaria.
PS - I'm really surprised that my father would talk about video games at work. I have never seen him play a video game in my life. I would think his co-worker probably started the conversation some how...

It's my fault, me and my big mouth : O
*EDIT* Oh, I forgot to actually contribute to this thread;
Outside of my friends, who I have been informing about Aquaria (many looking forward to it almost as much as I am) Other then the internet, I haven't really hear much about it from other people :-[ But I don't exactly go around with an Aquaria T-shirt either, so I wouldn't know ( hey, that's a good idea, ;D)

Now in store! ;)

You could get some interesting merchandise with a game as pretty as that.
Living in New Zealand (which is very out-of-the-way IMO) I havn't heard about Aquaria outside of the internet.

Not bad at all. Maybe another back, but I love the front :D

Now that I let this stir for a bit, I should probably mention that I live in Winnipeg. This is the city where Aquaria developer Alec Holowka grew up, so we may talk about Aquaria with more pride than other cities or countries might.
Probably the same for Derek's home town citizens too.

Winnipeg pride, yo.
Part of me kinda wants to hire Moe from Winnipeg (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gqou8bXPZ58) to do an ad for Aquaria.
The other part of me really wants to.
-
Maybe he can convince JLo to help him out, doing the ad.

No doubt, Moe is connected.

Holy sh-, Alec. You must. If you get Moe to do a video ad for Aquaria, you will bring about world peace. :o
Seriously, make it happen!!!
-
Aight... I'll probably have to pay him like 50 grand to do it though. Izzat cool?
-
Better make it a bit more... 8)

Maybe I can just buy him some new milk jugs (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xNBD14Sivdk).
"for you old guys out there - just look at it as if you're playing with a set of jugs"
My god, Moe is so awesome.
-
Not that I'm insinuating I know Moe better than you guys, but didn't he already tell you what he likes? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH0Z5Mtubfg) ??? ^-^

Hi Everyone, let me introduce myself, I'm BMcC's dad...I hope that is a good thing. I just want to say I'm very excited to get this game. I haven't played video games since Diablo first came out, so this will be like getting on the bike after falling off for a decade...or two. I actually gave up playing when BMcC began betting me at my games. It kinda took all the fun out of it by having the snot kicked out of you by a 4 year old. But, I'm really proud of BMcC and the team at Bit-Blot, you all are so incredibly talented.
I just wanted to let you all know that I will be standin' in line to purchase one of the first copies...
Continued success, gentlemen!!!

Well, I'm pretty sure Awesome is hereditary.

Lol.
The more people to support bit-blot the better. We should let Bill Gates know. ;)

It is almost uncanny how fast good news gets spread. Though bad news seems to travel faster, and is met with harsher consequences.
-
I'm actually surprised that I didn't hear about this game a lot sooner than I did. Actually, I'm sort of glad, because I really want to get my hands on it! If i would have payed attention last year, I would have had to hire a janitor to help me with the drool. :)
Great concept, looks like some awesome mechanics, and the story looks like it should be pretty good! And, the audio, great work there, too!
I'll be interested to hear what you all have to say at this years GDC. I'm sure you'll catch me lurking around on the boards more often. Take care, and stay motivated!
